montpics Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Whatever...... It would take years to see the game resurfaced.
Gryph Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Yes, this game will take it's own sweet time to come out. Now how many companies do you know can work on a game for as long as they want and not have to succumb to publisher pressures? Any game development firm would love to have the same power as 3DRealms. Hell, just yesterday team leader George Broussard said they have no idea when they'll be done in efforts to dispel rumors of DNF showing up at E3.
montpics Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Effort? I think the laziness would be the right word for them.
Wizard Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Effort? I think the laziness would be the right word for them.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Let's see, they've gone thru 3 engines, redeveloping, retooling, recreating the content for said engines. I don't think thats laziness there sir.

They scrapped the entire came in late 2002 and started all over again so it's been less than 3 years since that and most games take 3-5 years.
Skythe Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Duke is too badass. You'd think he's down then out of nowhere he frontkicks your teeth in and makes an awesome wiseass comment about how good your mother was last night.
Weirdy Posted January 29, 2005 Author Posted January 29, 2005 didn't 3d Realms barely buy the physics a couple months ago?
Daeval Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 didn't 3d Realms barely buy the physics a couple months ago?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I read that wrong.. I was thinking for a second there that you wouldn't be able to bounce a ball, much less move, without owing royalties. EA would have nothing on them then.
Gryph Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 didn't 3d Realms barely buy the physics a couple months ago?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Barely buy? What does that mean? They are using the Meqon which is the 3rd generation physics engine (Karma being the first and Havok being second which is what everyone uses now).

Give my regard to Broussard and and tell him that The Mummy demands that they pick up the pace.

It apparantly does calculations a lot faster than Havok right now so you can have more objects with physics on the screen.

Gryph Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Ah yes, the context is just odd. But yeah at the end of September they announced they switched. They needed to switch anyway because they were using first generation Karma.
