Turn it on. Get 3DMark05 and keep running that demo over and over again. That will stress test your PC to the max.

3DMark05 ? tell me more and I like a link if it's ok.

You can get the free version. Yeah, but first make sure the computer looks physically OK. The reason I'm suggesting 3DMark05 is that it tests the graphics card too. The true PC torture test is Prime95 which puts your CPU and RAM through hell. Atleast with 3DMark you'll be able to see how well your PC does 3D. Oh yeah, don't be dismayed when you get low scores, EVERYONE gets low scores. That program is made to use graphics that games won't be having for a long time. If you want to, you can get 3DMark03 (there is no 04) and run that. Atleast it'll run faster than 05 and it still looks good.

How does the results usually display ? in numbers or in comments or what ? Whats the difference between v5 and v3 ?

They give a numbered score. The higher the better. The difference between 05 is that it uses a lot more advanced graphic techniques and it just looks a helluva lot better. But 03 looks awesome too, the nature scenes are always great.

I'll try to pop in the full version v5 if it supports more option or full features or whatever.

thanks..

btw.. any advice on hardware check ? checking damage maybe a little complicated even for a naked eye, what do you recommend ?

Well if the hardware is bad then the software won't run. I guess you can look to see if everything is seated properly, all the connectors are tight, the cables are nice and neat. But the real test is if it runs software.

I just test out the rig, so far I'm very impressed. I'm recieving it tonight once the owner backup all his files (he has to go and buy a HD).

I also installed 3DMark05 (pro), and stress test the graphics for now, just once. Got a pretty good score, if I can remember it was 4000ish, I think a little higher than 4500+, can't remember.

Anyway I also test out Doom3 and Half Life 2, yes everything is on high settings, and at the right resolution. Half Life 2 runs very smooth and fast, played it on the prison stage for a little bit. Now Doom3 is what I'm impressed the most, I played Doom3 before on another PC with a high end video card (ATI 9600XT), but I can tell a difference in shading and details on the 6800GT OC 256MB.

ATI 9600XT isn't a high end card at all. it was and still is the midrange/low end.
