KyokugenKiss Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...term_abstinence this is a waste of government money, people will have sex nomatter what, and this will problably make people do it at a even younger age
Gryph Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 (edited) Yeah, I doubt this will work. Anyway I don't care since it only affects young people and basically all kids suck now so flock 'em. Edited November 26, 2004 by GryphonKlaw
NeuronMaster Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Yeah, I doubt this will work. Anyway I don't care since it only affects young people and basically all kids suck now so flock 'em. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's an attitude I really hated when I was young, and I hate it now since I'm still young. It's not a bad idea, but with the teachers we have here...

Anyone who thinks that telling teenagers not to have sex is the best form of contraception doesn't know teenagers.

But seriously, well it may work for you but I'd argue that you were never in the high risk group of getting stds or pregnant (or getting someone else pregnant in your case). For people who are in the high risk group, teaching them abstinence is going to do absolutely nothing to stop this.
ken_cinder Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Money for abstinence education in the US? Why not take that money and put it towards the same thing in 3rd world countries, so they stop popping kids out left and right that they can't feed because they have nothing better to do than screw? It'll save the US money in the long run, as well as every other country from sending aid to these countries overpopulated by savages that have nothing better to do that get it on. Not to mention it would make the Christian Childrends Fund look lame (And it is, cause they don't teach these people about birth control, it's against the Christian religion, thus it's not done........they just keep pumping money in and not teaching them ANYTHING)
Inky Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I agree with cinder. the first thing they need to do in those 3rd world countries is get control of the population. I remember a bumper sticker my step dad had on his old work truck.it said: "If you can't feed em, don't breed em"
KyokugenKiss Posted November 26, 2004 Author Posted November 26, 2004 he should use that money to make condoms and birth control free for adolecence
Sturmvogel Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I think we should be worried about the other huge amounts of money he's pumping to "X" programs. Let em have his abstinence program. His conservative base needs something!!
Daeval Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 I remember a bumper sticker my step dad had on his old work truck.it said: "If you can't feed em, don't breed em"<{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is flocking beautiful. It doesn't just apply to 3rd world countries either, there are plenty of families in the US with more kids than they can economically manage. I think the idea of "it'll never work, they're teenagers" is kind of defeatist. I'm not sure this program is it, but definetly something needs to be done. It's pretty well documented that kids are getting more and more stupid about sex in the US, and overpopulation is quickly becoming a worldwide issue (well, it IS a worldwide issue, it's just getting more attention). Our culture as a nation certainly holds at least part of the blame, watch any TV show popular with a high school crowd and you'll see what I mean. If you think of things in larger terms, maybe teaching abstinence to 3rd world countries isn't the best idea. For one, it's kind of pretentious, seeing as we have the same problem only it's masked by our ridiculous wealth as a nation. Maybe we should teach our population not to be idiots, and use the savings that result to help 3rd world countries with things that will actually further their ability to help themselves. The problem is effectively dealing with the problem anywhere. It is kind of a natural human urge to breed, or at least to "practice."
Gryph Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 (edited) To teach abstinence, they should show gratuitous pictures of diseased pen ises and vag inas. GODDAMIT!! I flockING HATE THAT CENSOR! Edited November 27, 2004 by GryphonKlaw
