LITTLE ROCK - It's a happy Mother's Day for an Arkansas woman — she's pregnant with her 18th child. Michelle Duggar, 41, is due on New Year's Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins. "We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said, laughing. The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months old. The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in northwest Arkansas in a 7,000-square-foot home. All the children — whose names start with the letter J — are home-schooled. Duggar has been been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life, and the family is in the process of filming another series for Discovery Health. The new show looks at life inside the Duggar home, where chores — or "jurisdictions" — are assigned to each child. One episode of the new show involves a "jurisdiction swap," where the boys do chores traditionally assigned to the girls, and vice versa, Duggar said. "The girls swapped jurisdictions, changing tires, working in the garages, mowing the grass," she said. "The boys got to cook supper from start to finish, clean the bathrooms," among other chores. Duggar said she's six weeks along and the pregnancy is going well. She and her husband, Jim Bob Duggar, said they'll keep having children as long as God wills it. "The success in a family is first off, a love for God, and secondly, treating each other like you want to be treated," Jim Bob Duggar said. "Our goal is for each one of our children to be best friends, and everybody working together to serve each other makes that happen." Shipments of the Gran Turismo series of car racing games edged past the 50 million unit mark at the end of April, Sony said Friday. The game was first launched in December 1997 for the original PlayStation console and has been through six incarnations since then. The seventh game in the series, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for the PlayStation 3, was launched in December 2007. Gran Turismo differentiates itself from the myriad of other racing games available for the PlayStation with its realistic simulation of driving a racing car. Sony takes care to ensure that even features such as the engine noise is realistic to the car being driven, and winning is much more complex than hitting the accelerator and beating the other cars. This attention to detail seems to have caught on with gamers, who made the first version a hit with sales of 10.8 million copies. The second version went on to sell 9.4 million copies and the third version, Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, became the best selling in the series with sales of 14.8 million copies. The latest version has so far seen sales, which for this title include downloads, of 2.2 million copies. Despite the success there have been some hiccups along the way, usually in the form of delays. The new Gran Turismo titles for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable have both seen their launch dates pushed back. Gran Turismo 5 for the PlayStation 3 won't be out for at least another year, Sony said in March this year, while Gran Turismo 4 for the PSP isn't due out until 2009. Yahoo Behind Them, Microsoft Sends Out Feelers To Facebook. Microsoft gauged Facebook's interest in a possible acquisition after the software giant's failed takeover attempt of Yahoo, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday. The newspaper reported on its Web site that Microsoft's bankers put out subtle signals to Facebook, the social networking Web site, to see if it would be open to a full acquisition. The talks were first reported by Web site All Things Digital, owned by Wall Street Journal publisher Dow Jones. Facebook spokeswoman Brandee Barker declined to comment on the report. Microsoft officials were not immediately available for comment. In October, Microsoft took a $240 million stake in Facebook, which valued the start-up at $15 billion. Citing an unnamed source, the report said there are no active discussions between the two companies. The news came a few days after Microsoft dropped its unsolicited offer to buy Yahoo for $47.5 billion. The aim of that proposal was to build an online advertising powerhouse to rival Google Inc Facebook, founded in 2004 by Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg, has become one of the hottest properties on the Internet because of its rapid growth and the loyalty of its users. Facebook has more than 70 million active users. In the past, Zuckerberg has resisted selling the entire company, opting to work toward an initial public offering. Recently, Opera's developers have been touting it as the most compliant browser with Web standards. Now they're using that as leverage to help introduce Dragonfly, a tool they hope will promote Opera as a kind of standards watchdog. Easily among the most useful and well thought-out extensions to Mozilla Firefox has been Firebug, an add-on by independent developer Joe Hewitt which instantly converts any active Web site into a fully-fledged JavaScript/XHTML/CSS/DOM diagnosis studio. You can see why an element is parsed and laid out the way it is by pointing at it, and letting Firebug take you to the code in question. Up until now, no tool with similar functionality and reliability has existed within the browser context; Microsoft's Web development tools are centered around Visual Studio and Expression. Today, it's Opera which is changing that picture, with the introduction of its own live development environment add-on called Dragonfly, whose alpha version was released yesterday. It's produced by the Opera team itself, is recommended for recent builds of version 9.5, and is being billed not only as a Web development environment but also as a standards conformance tool. With Opera reportedly scoring very high or perfect in recent Web Standards Project conformance tests, its creators may see Dragonfly as a way to build Opera into more than just a browser, but a development tool in itself. According to a blog post from Opera developer relationship manager Chris Mills yesterday, Dragonfly makes use of monitoring tools that are now actually built into Opera itself, called Scope. Like Firebug, Dragonfly includes a JavaScript debugger and CSS and DOM inspectors in a separate Developer Tools window, which also includes a command line that lets you interact with a JavaScript parser in immediate mode. The script window permits line-by-line execution stepping through individual instructions or between procedures, with variable breakpoints. Once execution of JavaScript has reached a breakpoint and pauses, the window can give you a full report of the state of the page's DOM and the contents of any active JavaScript variables. Perhaps most importantly, Dragonfly is capable of providing a very detailed error and warning report within its Console tab. The early reviews are mixed, with some impressed by how quickly Dragonfly responds, others depressed with how slowly it can load. The developer of the Python Web site framework Django, Simon Willson, expressed on his personal blog a viewpoint that's currently somewhere in-between: "Out in alpha and it shows (slow to load and the interactive console leaves a lot to be desired)," Willson wrote, "but still looks incredibly promising, especially the remote debugging tools for working with Opera on phones and games consoles." Dragonfly's Web site is also promising that, in order to keep it adherent to the latest standards at all times, its final release versions will be self-updating, without user intervention. It will be distributed freely under the BSD license. I have used this feature in Firefox for awhile now. I find it very useful to debug a website and inspect it when I have problems with one. Grand Theft Auto IV, Take-Two Interactive's crown jewel of the sandbox game series, reportedly sold over 6 million copies of the game for Xbox 360 and PS3, earning the company over $500 million dollars in the first week alone. Sales of the Grand Theft Auto games have historically been very swift, with composite NPD and VGcharts sales data ranking GTA: San Andreas and GTA: Vice City for PlayStation 2 the #3 and #5 all-time fastest selling games, falling only behind Microsoft's Halo series and Nintendo's recent Super Smash Brothers: Brawl. Sales of GTA IV and the subsequent surplus of revenue to Take-Two may help repulse EA's hostile takeover bid, which is still outstanding. The $2 billion dollar bid offered shareholders $25.74 per share in hopes of EA gaining a majority stake in the company. At midday today, Take-Two stocks were trading at $26.32; and if sales of the game meet projections, share prices will rise even further, either forcing EA to increase its bid or fold. Universal Music Group has confirmed that it has agreed on terms with file-sharing site Qtrax to make its catalog available at no charge to the site's users. Qtrax originally had hoped to launch in January, and claimed it would carry legal downloads from the major labels. However, the content owners pulled back on the reins and said that while in negotiations, no deals had been reached. That changed in April, when the company signed a deal with Sony BMG to allow free access to songs for a predefined number of listens before a click-to-purchase option is offered. Qtrax is also busy negotiating with a group that represents several independent labels, although the status of those talks is unknown. It is also unknown how the negotiations with the two remaining large labels are going. The site previously existed for a few months during 2002 as a standard file-sharing service, but its owners shut down the service amid an increasingly hostile legal environment for P2P companies at that time. Details of what the deal between Qtrax and UMG entails are unknown, as the label only confirmed that a deal had been reached. It is likely, however that the P2P site will share some of the ad revenue it generates to keep the service afloat with content owners. It hopes to launch in September of this year, according to earlier statements to the press. I have been beta testing this from the outset. Now anyone can sign up for a account. It is not bad either. Broadband Reports posted information yesterday provided by an "insider" claiming that Comcast is in the early development stages of a 250 GB-per-month bandwidth cap that will charge users a fee when passed. For every 10 GB over the 250 GB limit they consume, Comcast would charge $15, says the source. Early tests could begin in as little as one or two months, and would have an appreciable effect only the top one percent of downloaders. This one percent amounts to about 14,000 customers of Comcast's 14.1 million. In addition to throttling peer-to-peer traffic, Comcast's current traffic shaping methods also involve the termination of customers' accounts who have suspiciously high bandwidth consumption. While there is no known official limit, those found in violation receive an official letter explaining their disconnection without actually saying how over the limit they were. In a generic response to the source's disclosure, the company stated, "Comcast is currently evaluating this service and pricing model to ensure we deliver a great online experience to our customers. We have not made any changes to our current service offerings and have no new announcement to make at this time." Though noncommittal in language, Comcast's reply does affirm that such a plan does exist within the company's walls, at least in the phase where its viability can be tested. Genesis just alone for the controller and the games as well. Classics like Sonic and Eternal Champions were and still are classic games played today. I had both and my kids grew up with both. SNES had great games as well all the Mario's were fantastic as well as the wrestling games but for me Sega was the leader in games back then. They stunk in console making but ruled in games. Echo The Dolphin was another classic as well as DeCap Attack and who can forget Earthworm Jim or Toe Jam and Earl and true classic both versions. As well as all the sport games that Genesis came out with like NBA Jam. Also Mortal Kombat with the blood codes was truly revolutionary. Another great game just for Genesis was Vectorman a truly fantastic game.
