Yeah agreed my last mobo was Via so when I bought this one (with a tight budget) I thought id try a gigabyte board, Teach me to do my homework in future the gigabyte board is based on Via KT266A chipset so got screwed again. Still these new 4in1 drivers seem a lot better.

OK its sorted couldve been 1 of 3 things Not enough cooling (new case fan fitted) Wrong IDE drivers - bit of a weird one installed Via bus master drivers which crashed windows (whats new!) so used system restore and it leaves the main Via Bus Master one but rolls back to old Primary and secondary IDE (it works for me). or finally Out of Date Via 4in1 driver - although the problem didnt exist before a couple of weeks ago. Anyways thanks for the help, im off for some MoH

search for a file called msblast.exe and delete it, that should give you enough time to download the fix from the link above

Just had an idea, would on-board AC97 sound cause the locking? As its always worse in games.

sounds exactly like a Leadtek board reviewed at £150, good value for VIVO but games performance is not the best. The MSI board comes in much better at gaming, in UT2003 (the only direct comparison) it beat the VIVO card by 48.51 frames to 22.26 However the review also points out that theres still no indication of which boards will run HL2 best So I guess it comes down to do you want VIVO?

The best sub 100 card is MSI FX5200 TD128 it can cope with DX9 up to a resolution of 1280x1024 and absolutely kicks the equivalent Radeons butt (it has equal performance to Ti 4800). I agree the queues can get abysmal but if you can get there in the morning (GMT) then its usually quiet. On a similar note That other one Metripoliglobal or whatever its called (mamefans and elportal) though is great I paid for the fast download with a text message 500mb at top speed (72kbps dl for me) is great especially if you fancy a laserdisc or a larger saturn game

OK they werent IE popups but messenger (not the msn version) popups. apparently the spam sites have found a new way to get you, the only thing i dont understand is why ZoneAlarm was letting them through? Oh and I heard Google toolbar is spyware.

I keep getting these annnoying popups titled Messenger Service and got to byebyeads.com to stop them anyone know how to block/stop them. Ive already run adaware (newest Version) and Ive got ZoneAlarm installed
