  1. Since there was no answer on the sengoku2 problem, I investigated.

    Found it was caused by a hack in video\neogeo.cpp

    Removed this and changed everything back to standard Mame, and finally it works as it should.

    I will *NOT* be adding back any neogeo video hack code unless you can PROVE there's an issue. I cannot see anything wrong with Mame's standard rendering.

     


  2. Added back the slider saving. Strangely, the slider saving was working in MameUI, but the code had completely vanished from Arcade. Mystery. Anyway it's back and working.

     

    I didn't add the frame-delay thing, because I have no idea what it is or why it would be needed. When it comes to these video enhancements, I have no clue or interest.


  3. I added that bit of neogeo code, and fixed the resulting compile errors. I then ran sengoku2 on Mame and Arcade side-by-side and they were identical - except for a graphic glitch on Arcade.

    Are you *sure* you want this glitch? It looks bad.

    It's at the start where the letters are sliding into a black space at the start of attract mode, before the fat guy laughs.

  5. Actually, checked more, it is a bug in Arcade.

     

    You have to enable the plugins by right-clicking the game, Properties, going to Miscellaneous II, and choosing the ones you want from the list. Then it will work for you.

  6. The person who made the change in Mame isn't finished yet, however if things stay as they are now, then I agree we should drop all support (reading and writing) of plugin.ini

  7. New version 0.212.A uploaded, tell me if it fixes the problem (which never occurred on my setup).

    So, to get technical... I have a .\plugin.ini which is an old version from 3 years ago. I also had ini\plugin.ini which was 3 bytes and therefore corrupt. It seems the old version prevented the error message, even though it's a useless file. So, implanted mamesick's code, now ini\plugin.ini was much larger and no longer corrupt.

    Now, Arcade saves the settings in ini\mame.ini, rather than plugins.ini. On exit, plugins.ini was found to be data 1 and everything else 0, regardless of the mame.ini settng, and regardless of what was there before. I don't know if this is ok or not.

    So download and test it, see if there's any plugin bugs.

  10. Added the f3_taito hack. Also the neogeo scanline thing, it was almost all there already, only had to update one file that wasn't in haynor's diff. Don't know if it works though, don't know what to look for in what game.

     

    Also the argb32 thing hasn't happened yet, still don't know if it will.


  11. There's a plan underway to convert all video output to a new format (argb32). So, there's no point right now adding back the neogeo scanline hack etc.

    However the author of the change is having 2nd thoughts due to this change possibly making MAME run even slower than it does now. We'll see.

    If things settle down (as in no change), then I'll probably add the neogeo thing.


  12. Yeah, I'm still seriously thinking of stopping this project - I just don't have the time. We'll see.

     

    There's a number of pull requests from the same person (npwoods) at https://github.com/mamedev/mame/pulls

    which have the potential to cause more trouble. While they are in that list, they are not yet in. Have a look at them if you want.


  13. Decided to have another look at game_opts.h and found a null pointer in use. Moved a line and then it worked.

     

    So far I've only done the bare minimum to get it working again - removed the 5 artwork options (properties.cpp, mameui.rc), fixed game_opts.h, used all your UI files. That's all.

    CPS1 had a compile error (some old code was in there) so I simply put the MAME version in.
