  1. Definatlly the blue pill. It's like the ultimate virtual reality game.
  2. Real games for sure, but it is nice to have 3900 arcade games to play all stored on my hard drive.
  3. Thanks. The size of the ISO's is a BIG problem for me as I have no room on my HD. Maybe all I will have to do is get a bigger HD as my system is still a over all of the specs that you listed. I will also check that controller out...thanks again.
  4. I have always used MAME32. MAME32 is for windows, and has it's own frontend so I have never experimented with any other frontends. As far as games not working, I have never had that problem with MAME32. As long as you have an updated ROM set it should work just fine. The only complaint I have with MAME is that my system is getting dated, and newer games tend to slow down to the point where they are unplayable. Cruisin USA comes to mind Maybe I should try Nebula for those ROMs.
  5. I have not yet gotten into psx emulation as I planed on waiting till I upgrade, but I have a few questions: 1.) What would be the minimum (basic) system specs to play psx ISOs at a decent speed? 2.) Is it fairly easy to find the ISO's for popular games (Especially Castlevania: SoN)? 3.) What is a good controller to purchase that would work with both psx, and N64 emulation? 4.) Is espxe still a decent PSX emu, or is there something better now? Thanks for your input
  6. This is a good thing to have. I saw it on Edge a few years ago, and instantly made a printout of it and taped it to the wall by my workstation. I still refer to it from time to time when I encounter a rare code. Good post!
  7. "Raid on Bungling Bay" for the C64 was probably the hardest game I ever tried to complete. The farthest I ever got was maybe 2/3 of the way through. I also agree that Ghouls and Ghosts was a real tough game. I sucked at it, and evenyually just gave up
  8. If you couold go back in time, and change one thing about your life what would it be?? I'll start......I would buy a s*it load of microsoft stock. In the early eighties....next??
  9. 1.) Spiders 2.) Bad drivers 3.) People who have NO clue. 4.) Daylight savings time 5.) I.B.M.
  10. YES, Edge has the best explanation. Good call
  11. "Omar now realizes that he should have stolen the ox instead of the mule at the begining of his looting spree!"
  12. I never worried about it with MAME, Commodore, Intellivision, etc.... Now, I have been getting ROMs that are still on store shelves and that sorta bothers me. Eventhough I justify it to myself (i.e. I bought a GBA and about 10 games from the store after playing some on VGBA. Something I never would have done if not for playing the emu first.) I have always felt that I am a pretty minor cog in the whole emu realm. There are only so many Government people and there are a ton of people who DL ROMs. For them to put a clamp on the emulation, and ROM scene, they are going to have to figure out a way to controll what we can and can't get off of the internet, P2P, and FTP. I would guess they will try to pass some sort of legislation that would make our ISP's responsible for our surfing habits, and force them (the ISP's) to police us, or be held liable. This link DOES scare me though. They nailed my location down to about a mile on the map....check it out. IP locator
  13. I hardley ever cheat in games. I did buy the book for FF 7 because I didn't want to miss anything, but thats about it. I used to yell at my Nephew all the time about cheating in games. I gave him my copy of Doom on PSX a few years back, and everytime I saw him playing it he was using the invinceability cheat. Now, don't get me wrong, but whats the point of playing Doom if you can't die??? I don't see how the game would be fun without the threat of dying! Not to mention all the time I spent getting through all 70+ levels the hard way when I had it. A lot (not all) of younger gamers today biatch and moan that game prices are too high for what you get, and say sh*t like, "I am not paying $50 for a game that I will get through in 2 days!!!". Well.....if you want to get your money's worth.....don't play for 5 minutes and then start punching the cheat codes in. The game experience will last longer, you'll get the satisfaction of compleating it on your own, and you may even learn how to think through given problems/puzzles a little better! Sorry for the mini-rant.....'nuff said
  14. Hey Nick, hope you enjoy the forums!! I think I have DL'd stuff from you on the hub. Your nick looks familier anyway ( no pun intended ). While your here make some cool posts. We need to keep the interest up in the forums . c ya 'round
  15. FF 7 is one of my favorite PSX games of all time. I think I realized this when I finally got out of Midgar and discovered that I had barely scratched the surface of the game. The mini-games, sidequests, secrets, and materia combinations were all, for the most part, brilliant. FF 8 on the other hand was pretty lame. I quit before getting off disc 1, and spent most of my playing time doing the card game thing as I thought that was funner then the main quest.
  16. My guess for the low prices on pre-plays would be two-fold: 1.) Supply and demand. There probablly are more people bringing games in to sell to the retailer then vice-versa. 2.) Ebay. You can pretty much find any title for any system listed on Ebay over any given 2 week period. Plus, many sell for dirt cheap, and I can get it sent to my door! This has to put a dent in retail sales of used games. I guess, just enjoy the current state of cheap used games!
  17. I suppose this was bound to happen sooner or later to the hubs specializing in emulation. I have seen numerous articles on-line over the last month or so where the music industry has been targeting DC hubs that circulate MP3's. Specifically hubs that are hosted on mainframes which are owned by various universitys, and are being maintained by students. By focusing on these types of arrangements, the lawyers representing the music industry can actually sue the university, instead of trying to re-coup losses from the users. Although, they usually go after the main operators of the hub also. Hopefully, Emulforums hub will not be affected.
  18. OK, now I see what you were trying to ask, and it's a pretty good question/idea. I don't believe that there is a specific thread that was created, and updated with FTP links. I have also seen some FTP addresses posted in various threads here and there. Maybe someone with some spare time could put a sticky thread together on this subject. It would be fairly usefull.
  19. I tried Killera once. There were not to many people playing the few times I logged on so I gave up on it.
  20. FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol. To access these FTP sites you need a FTP client like CuteFTP. This FAQ will do a better job of answering any of your questions then I ever could. FTP FAQ
  21. Yes, this happens to me too from time to time. It is rather annoying as I don't have a pop up blocker either. Hopefully they are going to work the bugs out eventually.
  22. James hates change. As such, I have been listening to the same five albums for the last 10 years: 1 - Danzig - Danzig 2 - Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime 3 - Lou Reed - New York 4 - Iron Maiden - Killers 5 - Megadeth - So far...So good...So what
  23. Hmmm. cool site dude. I will try to dl some of these classics when I get some time (damn job). I love the old skool!
