Yeah, but for the price on the 1GBit ones, you're almost better off buying the large-file games used somewhere and just getting a smaller/cheaper linker.

Satelite connections can be cool, but they often have trouble with uploads and routing. Just make sure you have all that worked out ahead of time, and happy DLing!

Call their tech support, mail them your PS2 to be repaired, and include your brother as compensation.

Excellent GBA games - the ones worth getting
Daeval replied to Agozer's topic in Other Emulators [/pc/other]
Out of curiosity, why not those titles? Ones you already have? Recommendations: - Wade Hixton's Counter Punch - An awesome modern tribute to Punch Out! - Fire Emblem - Excellent strategy game. Great art, good story, fun gameplay. Sort of a tactical RPG, but it doesn't play like Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre. I think this may technically be an SNES port, but since it didn't get an english release on that system that I know of, here it is. - Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town - If you've ever played a Harvest Moon game, you know what this is. If not, it plays like a "sim" game, so you're basically managing your resources and working towards new and better "things." Despite the implied dullness of the "farm" premise, it's a lot of fun. - Advance Wars 2 - Turn-based strategy in a modern/future military setting, but with neat anime-ish artwork and a relatively fast pace. Sort of command and conquer meets Fire Emblem. Different characters (of which there are many) have unique abilities, and there are TONS of unlockables, so the replay value is high. Link play isn't bad either if you can find someone to take on. Don't bother with Advance Wars 1 - It's awesome too, but most of what's in that one is included in part 2. - Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow - My favorite of the castlevania games on GBA. They're all pretty solid, but this one just impressed me the most. Classic side-scrolling action in the Castlevania/Metroid style. -
ActiveX is disabled by default in Firefox (not sure if you even have the option to turn it on though.. Not that anybody respectable uses it. ). You can also disable Java and/or JavaScript, or even disable specific "features" of java, such as the ability to hide the status bar or resize windows. Images can be disabled too, and you can choose whether to disable them altogether, disable only those from certain sites (like advertizers), or disable any image loaded from outside the site you're visiting. You'd practically have to try to get spyware/adware with FireFox.

I didn't see the a-hole one, but moron.jpg definately worked.

I still don't understand the fuss over Halo. It's a nice FPS, but it's basically the tried and true formula. It doesn't really introduce anything spectacular and new, and it's not even as complete as some of its competitors (like UT).

I still like Sould Blade/Edge. The SCs are great too, but they're missing something...

Got it on PS2, it's just one of the massive collection of good fighters on that system.

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE! - have you voted?

"Religion is a cloud that rolls over and settles upon the eyes, percipitating ignorance and blinding one from logic...." Anon. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another good point. Maybe if kerry had said he'd been chosen by god to run for president too, it would have been a closer race. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did Bush seriously say something like this? I must have missed whatever religious BS you people are referring to. In light of the current state of affairs here, this seems relevant: http://harpers.org/ElectingToLeave.html -
It sounds like it hijacked your desktop using active desktop. Did you try this?: Go to Control Panel -> Display -> Desktop. Click on the Customize Desktop button. Then select Web and uncheck (or delete) the webpage Security. Click OK and it's done. Or this for the "program"?: http://www.smart-security.info/removal.html (Both from the second link from google) You might also get a port watcher and see if you notice any signs of a trojan. There's a few good freeware / demoware ones out there that should do the trick, but I can't remember any names. Just to keep an eye on things and make sure nothing is left on your system. Although judging by the type of attack, it was probably an activeX hack or something. Might consider switching to FireFox if you haven't already.

Wow, you got 0wned good. You might try something like.... this: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%...%22&btnG=Search

Just a heads up, if you don't get any leads, it's like 5 bucks and you can just sign up and cancel so it only bills you for the one month. -
You stole my question... Created wrestlers are the only reason I play these games...
-
That game is total crap! Never play it, ever! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Eh whatever. I don't even own a GameCube. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Everyone bashed on it because it required you to use multiple GBA's for multiplayer. Yes, that was rather dastardly, but the end result is actually a unique kind of fun in groups.

An interesting article, I had no idea so many big names were leaving Square. I didn't see any names on there for Final Fantasy 9, which was the best of the recent ones in my opinion (because it was so old school), so hopefully they still have someone with a brain there. In the meantime, with many of them joining or forming other companies, this could mean some competition for big daddy Square, and a host of new titles for us gamers.

Especially not ones with rom links?

I don't know if it's the spam or what, but the forum seems extra-slow today.

I've been using Gravis Gamepad Pros, which you can find at places like bestbuy for 10-15 bucks and even cheaper on ebay. They're basically clone playstation controllers, although the buttons are typically harder and the pad is a solid piece, requiring a little aclimation for 2D fighters. They require no software or configuration (at least in winXP, dunno about the rest) and MAME32 can handle four of them with no trouble. I have had them for years though, since before the psx/ps2 converters were around, so those might be better (but maybe more expensive if you don't already have the pads).

I installed SP2 and all is well except that I can't figure out how to get the security center to stop bothering me. The firewall warning comes up every time I restart my comp, no matter how many times I check the "Don't monitor my firewall" and "I have my own firewall, you bastards" boxes.

I can only imagine that this was some corporate tool's brilliant attempt at a "friendly" anti-piracy campaign. It might even have had some small impact if their "offers" weren't just insults to any "pirates" who would even consider going legit. That asian chick almost makes up for it though.

Well, I have the GBA cart and between us we have enough SPs to go around.. not sure if that's the pace we're looking for, but thanks for the suggestion!

I've been tasked with hauling over the gamecube for tommorow night's low-key hang out at a friend's place. I figure this is a good chance to make use of the system's reputation as a "party" console, and I've got a stack of free game rentals burning a hole in my pocket, so I thought I'd ask you folks for some suggestions. I already have a handful because I bought anything that caught my eye while working at a game store. However, we've burned out most of this stuff already and would prefer something new. Here's what I've got: Mario Kart DD Pac Man Vs. (Best free game ever) Super Monkey Ball 2 Super Smash Bros. (duh) Ultimate Muscle (Underrated!) Wario Ware, inc. I've avoided the Mario Party games because I've always been told they're ridiculously simple and kind of boring to adults. If any of you all think otherwise, let me know. Suggestions please?! Thanks!

Play the classic Punch-Out on your web browser!
Daeval replied to Dynamo's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I dig it. If you like this, try Wade Hixton's Counter Punch for GBA. It's basically a tribute to Punch Out with some more modern features. It's also developed by a relatively unknown company, so if you like it make sure you buy it.
