  1. poweremu.net lists puts up screenshots of games being released in the arcade soon. They don't differentiate between emu news and arcade news very well. That naomi shot is just an arcade announcement, like the KOF and Tekken 5 shots.
  2. mmm looks like I need to finally give in and get DC++ going Would be nice to upgrade some of my non selfboot games. I just can't get the selfboot tools to work.
  3. There's a post on madridc that says Shenmue works with glitches in the CURRENT chankast. Wonder how they did it? Go check out the pic of the glitch. its great MadriDC
  4. Yes thank you! I'm very excited to help out in any way I can. I agree with K'dash, if we could get it working with gameshark, you would have a huge database to start with. That would help a lot.
  5. so are there any other games that were never ripped? I'd like to try all the games I can in chankast. just for the heck of it. Of course, before I go investing in a cable to rip D2, I should probably figure out how to selfboot the 10 or so nonselfboot games I have that aren't on the compatability list.
  6. I know that some games weren't ripped at all, I assume because they couldn't fit them down onto 1 cd. D2 comes to mind. I never saw a release of that. if you look at the nfo's on a lot of echelon releases, you can see that on most games nothing truly important was ripped. a lot can be accomplished with downsampling of audio and video. But I guess I can think of a few cases were that hurt the quality of the game. I'd love to have Shenmue without that horrible downsampled audio.
  7. I should say I think its just add-on programs based on looking at the screenshots. Gamecop maybe you can confirm this and change the topic to something less inflammatory than "hacks"? Utilities maybe? Or am I completely wrong and they are actually hacks of the chankast binary?
  8. I don't want to speak for them, but I don't think the chankast team will mind. He's not actually hacking the program, just adding extra utilities that work with the program. Its more of a really featured frontend than an actual hack. Actually hacking the program is what pisses off the authors.
  9. I need to have a cd-writer that can be access through the cmd shell in order to run the selfboot program. An iso emulated as a drive will show up as a cd-rom not cd-rw and will not support the necessary commands to get the needed info. If alcohol 120% allowed you to make iso's by faking a cd-rw drive, I'd be set.
  10. nice, I can use that to slow down a few games. Many of my games are too fast to play on my p4 prescott 3.0
  11. I figured out part of the issue was going through cmd.exe rather than command.com But I still can't get my cd-rom to show up in cdrecord. Does anyone know if there is a way to emulate a cd-writer? If I could just fake it and write a file to hdd but let it think its going to a cd, that would be a huge help.
  12. This is awesome news! Very smart little extra utilities. I wonder if you will be able to easily add cheats? It would be really nice to get a huge database together. I think I need to meet this guy, maybe he and I could come up with something to fix the vga problem w/o having to re-record. Some sort of dummy file that fakes the emulator into thinking the cd-rom is correctly patched or something.
  13. the vms browser is great news, but that selfboot is harder to use than it looks. I've known for awhile that fixing the bootfile can fix the vga cable issue, however I cannot get my cd-rom to read in dos, which is necessary for selfboot to work. Specifically, it has to show up as a SCSI drive. I can help out anyone who wants to try it. I may not have used it successfully yet, but I have figured out everything about it in the process
  14. the one in the chanka bios post works check here: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php...indpost&p=64441
  15. mem32k v0.64 has mslug5 support. I don't know of anyone modifying newer mame versions to add the new neogeo games, so I just use two mames. Check out this site for versions of mame that play the newer neogeo games, along with all the roms and patches. Rom Guide & Download Center
  16. capcom vs snk2 is what I used. worked fine. I suppose other games might have issues with the way they have the saving done. But hey its still great for an alpha!!
  17. A few more Project Justice Sonic Adventure 2 Street Fighter Alpha 3 Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
  18. Here is my favorite pic. Doing the rest as links. Crazy Taxi Dragonriders of Pern image 2 Daytona USA Daytona USA image 2 Notice how you can't see any words there. makes it hard to get in game. Frogger 2 Jet Grind Radio Looney Tunes Space Race Notice how the characters are all yellow! Marvel vs. Capcom 2
  19. Ya just double checked, saving is in fact supported. Just do like I said and format the vmu in the bios. And if the vmu gets full you can just rename it and make a new one
  20. 1) Yes, go into the bios and format the memory card. After that it *should* save. But its possible Chanka resets it to unformatted every time you start it up, like it annoyingly does with the bios time. I haven't tested this enough. 2) I think yes, it can be fixed. VGA cable support is controlled by a setting in the bootfile on the CD. In order to change this, you have to run binhack on it with an ip.bin that has vga support enabled. However, I am having trouble getting the selfboot tools to work for me. Its the same process as making any other game seflbooting, but I am just not having any luck doing it under winxp. If we can't get it fixed now, I'm sure it'll be fixed in the next version as that's a tiny little fix. 3) dunno, will try this when I get home. there maybe be a hidden commandline option. A secret command line option for loading iso and bin files has already been revealed.
  21. I'm trying to make a few dreamcast games selfboot. However, I am unable to use the selfboot tools because I can't get my cd/dvd-rw drive to show up in dos. My emulated Alcohol 120% drive shows up, but I need that recorder in order to complete the process. Anyone have an idea how to get it to show up and be usable with CDrecord? It seems to be a problem specifically with XP. here's a link to the selfboot tutorial, that might be a good starting point for a solution: http://www.dcemulation.com/help/selfboottutorial.htm Thanks for any help!
  22. The Chankast authors shared a nice bit of info today. Apparently there is a commandline to load iso files directly! Courtesy of DCEmu.co.uk: All that stuff about homebrews and him not being very popular is because all people have done on that particular forum is diss them since this emulator came out. They just can't stand that it plays commercial games better than homebrew and think Chankast will kill the homebrew scene/promote piracy/end the world. Garrofi should come talk to a nice board like this where we'll give him his due props for this huge acoomplishment!
  23. nice, that's even easier! Though I'm still convinced you can get those AV cable issues to go away by modifying the bios or the boot files on the disc. I'm going to keep hacking away to see what I find.
