  1. Well, you can easily derive the original MAME roms from the Kawaks roms. You would have to alter the p2 rom size and CRC (unless you didn't change it) in the driver. The s rom will present a problem, though, if you're using the one needed for Kawaks. I don't know how Kawaks fixes that. You'd might as well just get the original s rom from the MAME set.
  2. You would have to edit the CRCs listed in the source code. So if the code is available and you know how to compile, just alter the listed CRCs. There may be more than that needed, depending on the p roms FBAX or Kawax needs normally, but the roms should work for the most part.
  3. Um, I think he meant Samurai Shodown 5 with the ssv, unless I'm missing something. Anyways, NeoRageX EGCG emulates all the latest games except KoF 2k3, but there's a special NeoRageX hack for that.
  4. The file from GameFAQs is probably a DexDrive save. I don't use Project 64, so I don't know how it handles memory card saves. Check the readme if it supports DexDrive saves. If not, try searching for a save converter. I don't know if one exists or not, but you could try Dextrose or Zophar's Domain.
  5. Well, I guess it calculates the CRC the same way uCON64 does. Anyways, the problem was the rom for the Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt beta as its CRC changed from version 3 to 3.1. Another problem was that the some of the BS roms were double their actual size. NSRT wouldn't do anything because it didn't look like an overdump. Also, the ST roms had the BIOS attached and it wouldn't detect that either. Had to either cut the end half (for the BS roms) or two thirds of the beginning (for the ST roms). The other roms were just overdumped. I'm still having problems with it detecting the Super Pro Fighter Q+ BIOS, although it may be correct (dunno).
  6. The ones at the bottom of the page are what you want. They should provide modified P rom files. You just need to edit the dat file if you're using Nebula or Kawaks w/ loader. Otherwise, you need to place the hacked p files into main zip and make sure they're named correctly.

  8. Try Dream Generation, they have several hack roms including hacks to get newer games to work in NeoRageX EGCG. Just click on the picture on the left that looks like the NeoRageX icon with Chinese letters next to it. From there it should be fairly obvious as the link to the hacked roms is pretty much in English.
  9. What? They've already released a bootleg of KoF 2004 even though it hasn't even been developed yet? Man, bootleggers are getting more advanced everyday! First they make the Plus editions and now they have pirate version of games not out yet!
  10. You'd have to hack the firmware or somehow bypass it so the laser could be focused properly. The last part of a GD-ROM is high density, so it's not like a DVD (I don't think, at least). Supposedly there is a firmware hack for Samsung (not sure if it was that brand or not) CD drives, but AFAIK, it could just as likely have been a hoax.
  11. I've burned corrupted images and sometimes they "boot" like that. Of course, they'll usually boot to the bios if there's a problem. I've had few burned games that acted pretty weird, such as reseting the sytem over and over (that was the bleemcast beta). The only game I can remember pretending to boot like for Gee was a corrupt Xploder image, though.
  12. You wouldn't need a boot disc. A boot disc would only be necessary if you didn't already have a mod chip or game enhancer. Even then, you wouldn't need a boot disc, if you could perform the swap trick. If you, spongecake, don't have a mod chip, game enhancer, or boot disc, using PAL4U won't help (technically). I don't know if you do or not, but if you don't, PAL4U might be converting it correctly after all.
  13. Yes CRC is the way to authenticate roms, but different CRCs would need to be calculated for each rom format. The only way around that would be to calculate a roms CRC minus the header and reverse (or something like that) for SWC, if possible. If it had the CRC for each rom type, that would definately bloat up the program.
  14. Kawaks can use encrypted sets (graphics, at least) as long as you provide the proper GfxCrypt and GfxKey values for the asr.dat (as in Nebula). NeoRageX roms should work just fine with Kawaks, though (except KoF 2k3 obviously). Technically, 97 should work fine in Kawaks without a loader as long as the rom names are correct and the roms aren't hacked. You'll have to add an entry in the asr.dat, like ForceX said, if the roms are hacked.
  15. I have had this happen before with the Bleemcast beta. For me, I couldn't tell what the problem was. My guess is that it was the CD-R media. If you've burned games using that type of CD-R before, then my only guess is the image is corrupt. To check if it's corrupt, grab CDMage (the beta version) from http://cdmage.cjb.net. If the image is in Discjuggler 4 format, it won't be able to read it. One last thing, if the image is Nero (.nrg), make sure you're burning it correctly (i.e. if it's DAO burn it as that and the same with TAO).
  16. You could grab an NTSC to PAL (and vice versa) patcher for ISOs at http://www.megagames.com. Look for it in the Console Fixes section, it should be under Playstation utilities. Agozer, there are some games that are PAL only, such as Megaman Battle & Chase and some adult games. That's the only reason I can think of anyone wanting to convert since most PAL games have an English NTSC equivalent version.
  17. The checksum will be different if the rom it's in SWC since it's interleaved. Are you sure that CRC is how the rom is checked? After all, different headers would also produce different checksums. Technically, the roms should be all right since they were checked by GoodSNES, or I at least assume they were since it was GoodSNES package I downloaded using BitTorrent.
  18. What I meant was ripped games, not GD-ROMs. I own a DC, so I do know better and I did post the message that you could try the BBA (as opposed to the coder's cable). And by "proper format," I meant whether or not they were in autoboot format or not. I was just wondering if they'd support the original ripped games or games that weren't cracked for autoboot.
  19. Has the sf2turyu rom set been released? If so, how is it different than the original Street Fighter 2, if at all? If it has been released, where can I grab it and will it work with Nebula? That was the only added rom set that I've never heard of as the other ones were the M hacks found in Nebula and the rest were Neo Geo games.
  20. Well, King of Fighters 2003 was released as both a PCB and a MVS cartridge for arcades. It also has its own BIOS, just like Irritating Maze. The difference between the MAME and Kawaks set is that the C roms are combined in Kawaks, but not in MAME. The same thing for the V roms. Kawaks uses a different S rom and the P2 rom *may* be a different file size (the dat has the old CRC, though), but other than that and the mentioned mergings, they're the same. The NeoRageX hack almost works on Nebula and I believe only the P1 rom is different than the MAME version's.
  21. It should also offer reading games from CD, though. After all, many games, like Skies of Arcadia, are about a gigabyte or so per disc. I wonder if it could read the CDs even if they weren't in a proper DC format. Anyways, that's just speculation and my personal opinion.
  22. And that's for Kawaks, not KawaX. I don't know how different the Xbox emulator is from the PC emulator, though.
  23. Well, you could always buy a DC development system with a GD-R burner, or possibly use the BBA. I doubt you'd want to use the later as it be slower than a real DC and the former probably isn't feasible. Of course, you could use the BBA to backup your games first, but that's a whole other topic.
  24. I don't know about Metal Slug 4 and Rage of the Dragons, but several other new Neo Geo games have encrypted Vs. King of Fighters 2002, Matrimelee, SvC: Chaos, Samurai Shodown 5, and, as mentioned, Metal Slug 5 all have encrypted Vs. I know there is a convert tool for c roms, but is there anything like that for m or v roms? Thanks in advance.
  25. I tried fixing the Addam's Family beta rom, but it couldn't do anything for it. With Super Wildcard Format, it's more than just a different header. SWC roms, unlike SMC and FIG are interleavend (sp?). My roms are also zipped, so that could've prevented it from fixing and they also may have been read only. Are the roms in NRST's database in the GoodSNES database, BTW? Anyways, thanks for the reply.
