  1. As much as I love the fact that this topic is aimed more at the X360 users, you do realize that this isn't the last topic of this kind, and that last few topics we had where it went on to be a Micro vs. Sony battle ended up scaring some people and then kinda getting the general mood in the bored really bad....

Exactly. Crap like this scares new users away. Sure it's nice to have the freedom to talk smack and all, but other forums have rules against Vs. threads for a reason. It alienates people. Both systems are great.

End it people. Close the thread and talk about something other then which system is better. This generation doesn't mean anything overall. Why? Because for some flocking reason the Wii, the worst out of all the systems, is 'winning'. Maybe you should make a thread about that. Discuss scenarios as to why a Gamecube with a new controller has actually outsold everything worldwide. That, to me, is a discussion worth having. And might provoke some intelligent thought as well.

  2. I like this idea... but not on this game. Use it on a game like GTA where it matters. You could easily take out a lot of the graphic violence and options in a game like that and still make it fun. Gears... it's a game where you're meant to kill things. It's a pseudo first person shooter, shooter being the main thing. What happens when you shoot things? They bleed and die. Put more work toward the game and not this content filter please.

  3. According to Carmack, the royalty fees to include a third disc in the Xbox 360 version would be so high that it simply isn't a feasible solution, with the programmer hoping for Microsoft to make a concession. He stressed that the issue is merely a storage problem and has nothing to do with the power of the Xbox 360 hardware.

    I'll live.

Yup, blu-ray IS good for something. You'll notice this DVD vs. Blu-Ray issue cropping up more and more over the years, bet on it. Happened with CD's, it'll happen with DVD's.

  4. I currently have...

I think I might want to sell the lot. I've been collecting these for years and have spent a lot of money on them. How much do you think the whole thing would go for total?

  5. I'd like to know how it is as well. I'm getting it when it's released. I just wanted to let everyone know that I don't hate the 360. I hate what M$ did to increase their market share with it. One recent thing I'm really liking that M$ is doing is bringing it more up to speed game wise with installs. That's happening with the fall update right?

  6. Can the topic title be changed now? Because I've heard numerous reports that after install, the PS3 loads faster and even before install, they look exactly the same.

Just trying to be fair here, if you're gonna continue with a topic, don't keep a rumor alive.

  7. Well, previously, nothing can beat the PS and PS2 in term of sales. This generation, X360 is giving PS3 a run of the money with huge market share in NA and EU (and possibly the rest of the world with exception of Japan). Not bringing this series to other regions is a bad move.

From my understanding PS3 finally outsold the 360 in EU, but that doesn't matter much from the NA sales. Still doesn't matter, Tekken isn't exactly a premier fighter in my opinion. If it came out on the 360 as well maybe M$ would spend some of it's cash to make the game better overall.

A pretty fighter never hurt anyone. A prettier fighter might hurt my wallet though.

  8. Getting worked up about which console the game will be better on is laughable. Just pick whichever version you like, for the console you like. Let the retarded warmongers say what they want.

It's true that from the diehard FF fans' point of view, porting something like FFXIII is sacrilege, but at least a port would [probably] give the X360 better coverage in Japan; something that the console direly needs. And we all know how much resources Microsoft pools into games and marketing for the japanese consumers. How well these tactics are faring is anyone's guess.

The X360 and the PS3 are more or less on the same line graphically, with the X360 making better use of it's internal image scaler/processor, something which has (and still is, apparently) been the hot potato in the multi platform game comparisons.

You're right about it all except FFXIII isn't being released on the 360 in japan. Don't ask me why...

  9. Or both of you could realize that the bolded sentence is just worded horribly.

    http://ps3.qj.net/FFXIII-producers-talk-Xb...g/49/aid/122265

But the juicy part is when they were asked if there had been any negative reaction from Japanese Xbox 360 owners about the FFXIII announcement since (quoting the interview question) "It's not coming out on 360 there, and Japanese gamers won't be able to play the U.S. import on their systems, since the console's region-locked.

To this they replied: "There doesn't seem to be any overly negative feedback yet, as Japanese users have known since the beginning that it's coming to PS3. "

    Done.

  10. Oh and Japan will like FF and pie forever it seems.

That's another thing about losing the FF exclusivity, it'll give the 360 a much needed boost in the Japanese market.

The reason why I said that is because it's already been confirmed that FFXIII is being released on the 360 ONLY in North America and Europe.

This may change though. I'm upset but what is the point in crying about it? I'm sure 360 fanboy's were upset when a lot of their games went multi-platform, but they survived.

what in the blue are you smoking? obviously your head is not where it's at.

Final Fantasy XIII: 360 development starting after PS3 version

    by Ludwig Kietzmann Jul 14th 2008 11:45PM

When is Final Fantasy XIII coming out? To deliver even a vague answer, you'll need to consider the long and winding path the immensely anticipated RPG still has to take -- and the Xbox 360 version isn't about to take a shortcut. Speaking at a special Square Enix Q&A event at E3, Square Enix exec Shinji Hashimoto detailed the developer's strategy, taking care to consider not only the game's multiplatform development, but its localization period as well.

Final Fantasy XIII is currently being developed using Square Enix's "Crystal Tools" technology with the PC as base platform. "As we have already announced, we will complete the PS3 version in Japan," explained Hashimoto. "After that, we will start the localization for US and Europe." Once localization is underway, Square will begin development of the Xbox 360 version, with the aim of releasing it in America (with no meaningful content changes) alongside the localized PlayStation 3 version. "Because of languages and other conditions, it may not release in US and Europe simultaneously," noted Hashimoto.

Or hey! You could've watched the press conference, watched the trailer, and just about every other news source out there stating that it's not coming to the 360 in Japan.

    Just a thought though...

  11. MGS1 was also released on PC, they could just use PC footage instead of PSX. Blu-Ray doesn't have to be, since it's leading prefered media format, anything Sony would have to be removed, Apple products maybe removed, but don't have to be (iPod would probably get the boot, but the Mac Book probably wouldn't).

I played the game and I just debunked about 4 outta 6 of those. It's a great game, but why does it look ugly is beyond me D:

Not PSX footage, but part of the actual PSOne game is in MGS4 to play. And if you're talking about footage, then MGS3 footage is in it as well. Also, tons of music from past games and PS2 exclusive games are in MGS4. ZOE anyone?

  12. Well with Tekken 6, you also have to rely on the arcade revenue it garners as well. First and for most it's primary source of income is from the Arcades it's in.

Which as of lately is slowly drowning in japan eh no?

I hope 13Versus will jump ship too, if it doesn't that might be pretty messed up.

MgS4 I still see no way of getting ported, even if production cost gets skewed and a loss is made from the game (which will....suck, konami might just say screw the series)

MGS4 cannot be ported. Anyone who has played through the game and seen what is in it knows a lot of copyright infringements will have to be broken to port it over.

    iPod

    PS3

    Sony

    Blu-Ray

    PSOne

    MGS1

All have been mentioned or are used in game. Take out those elements however and you can port. But I'm pretty sure a contract has been drawn up so none of that can be removed. Especially the iPod.

  14. The Wii is too different for ports of a lot of these things. Graphics would have to be toned down, controls would have to be altered. It's got nothing to do with Wii's software sales, it just wouldn't work.

There's no chance of a Wii game getting ported to another system either, for the same reasons. This makes it a unique console in a see of games that play on the 360, PS3, and PC.

Classic controller. Package the game with it or have the Wii actually packed with the damn thing so 3rd parties can do traditional games for the damn system. You all know it doesn't need to cost $250, they can easily keep the price and still give a free classic controller.

  15. Luckily I'm not an MGS fan then :P

Friends that have this have all praised it very highly though. It's a pity a port would be as difficult as you pointed out. I'd still like to play it, fan or not.

I enjoyed every minute of it. Sure some parts you're just going to be watching and not playing, but those are the perfect parts to grab that snack you've been meaning to get and learn more about the story and characters. It's a great blend of movie and game, and Kojima pulled it off perfectly.

If you ever get the chance to play it, i suggest you do. Even if it's years and years from now and the PS3 costs 100 bucks.
