  1. Tossup between Etna and Flonne from Disgaea. Etna is a goth/loli/bondage hottie and has an army of exploding penguins at her disposal. Flonne's a love freak who wants to be a ninja and cheerfully accepted a mission to assassinate the overlord of the Netherworld. She then got all depressed and weepy when she found out he was already dead. She also transforms into Space Monster Flonnezilla!
  2. Citan Uzuki from Xenogears. He's a doctor who's not at all afraid of violating his hypocratic oath in the name of survival and the will of Emperor Cain. He's also a practised martial artist and swordsman who knows what every pressure point on the body does. Also, he actually looks a lot like me.
  3. You can tell if a rom from an archive site will work if it has a (!) after it. It's universal ID code. The one's that have a ( after it are bad dumps, useful only to those who want to try their hands at cleaning up the code. For ideas, more Phoenix Wright sprites are always good. Sonic racing with Metal Sonic from Sonic CD would be cool. Streaming together a fight scene with sonic and mario sprites a la Super Mario Bros. Z from newgrounds.com would be awesome.
  4. I use a normal keyboard and mouse for FPS as they work quite well. For other games, I have a PS/PS2->PC converter that I got from mayflash.com. It even converts rumble signals correctly. Sony do make a pimp controller and the first moron who can't get over the left analog stick being where it is is going to get hadokened by me.
  5. Throw in some Ayreon or Star One (Star One's Master of Darkness is all about Star Wars). Some Irritating Rainbow would be cool too (www.robotbastard.com Watch the movie (you'll love it) and listen to the ending credits) Some techno would be cool for more tactical emotions during a fight(look for the song The Device Has Been Modified, inspired by Portal). Leave out any and all rap. It's just not meant for fighting games.
  6. Robotnik was the result of americanization. They switched him back to being Eggman because SA1 included the japanese dialogue and someone would have figured it out anyways. At first, though, they treated it as though Eggman was a nickname that Sonic had given him. I wish they had kept it that way (would have been funny to have a little pet insult for the guy). They should at least keep in Amy Rose. She counts as an old school character thanks to Sonic CD, and her getting captured is always a good reason for Sonic to kick some metallic ass. Cream and Big can take a walk out the nearest airlock, Shadow's good as far an antihero is concerned. Rouge I can live without, The Chaotix can die (except for Espio), and there NEEDS to be an E-100 series robot (admit it, you like the gunplay). Also, they could reintroduce Ray the Flying Squirrel (from SegaSonic Arcade which you've never played. He and Mighty the Armadillo first appeared there (see, Mighty wasn't just a ripoff Sonic sprite). In any case, my comment before reflected that Sega will likely use all of the characters regardless of how much we hate them, so I'm hoping they at least get kick ass levels.
  7. I remember when re-dizzy combos were introduced in Super SF2. They'd make you fake out the machine with half-moves and whatnot to squeeze off the special without really doing it. Wonder if they work in 4.
  8. Luckily I know enough about computers to build my own. Failing that, I'd still make a point of finding all the crapware and unembedding it myself.
  9. Could it be? Has Sonic Team finally learned how to avoid issues with Cammy (old school term. When Sonic Team started having problems with the camera programming in Sonic Adventure, they nicknamed it Cammy)? Knowing them, they'll likely use all the characters they can. I hope they all have a kickass quest. If they were to give the game a Tomba-esque structure (as far as level sequencing is concerned), the could actually turn it into something of an rpg too
  10. For his awesome policy of let the pirates pirate, I feel obligated to actually purchase a copy of Sins.
  11. What's odd is that communism itself works. It's the idiots in command that can't comprehend what Marx was talking about. China's communist government is the only large scale communism which has thus far found little criticism, due to practices that largely reflect the people's will. Most of the time. Unfortunately, China's government views outsiders, especially those under their political control, as inferior. Protests of being treated as second class citizens are largely true. Someone needs to dub V for Vendetta in Chinese. As for the censorship of YouTube, how do you write "proxy through Korea" in Chinese?
  12. Successfully hacking the right people will get you multiple life sentences. It's amazing so few people realize the extent to which the government will go to keep dirty litle secrets. In any case, 26 years for spam? I smell a barrage of appeals incoming.
  13. Michael. It's the most common name on the planet, with 1 out of every 20 people having it or a lingual/genderal equivalent (Miguel, Michelle, etc.). It also means "He who is like God," which is the basis for the Kami portion of my username.
  14. Too bad the iPhone is fail. My reasoning? http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=iphone
  15. Really? I'd heard it was so, but never got around to testing it because my copy was already decompressed. I figured it, like the cake, was a lie. In any case, I forgot to add one of the greatest SNES RPGs of all time to the list: EarthBound. Yes, EarthBound. Do not underestimate the Starman.
  16. Devia, adding random shyness makes it sound more like Asperger's Syndrome than ADHD. There's a test you can take for it online (google it). If this is the case, all the ritalin in the world will just slow you down (all ritalin ever did for me was shut off half of my brain).
  17. Asian comics (manga literally means comic book. You can stop with the distinction now) have a tendency to enforce strong storytelling and moral values along with artwork that tends to be of higher quality than the western counterpart. The guys at Marvel and DC are often stuck doing 3 or 4 different books per month, and since the writers switch with relatively great frequency (the only switch in manga that I can think of is for Lupin III, and they never screwed anything up), there's a general loss of love for the material, not to mention frequent breaches of continuity. In addition, if you miss even one issue in an arc, you tend to not know what the hell happened or what title to go to next (as they span storylines across multiple titles in addition to multiple issues). Trying to maintain the massive universe is what has forced DC to hold 4 different Crisis scenarios, and has forced Marvel to continuously retcon their universes to account for adjustments in technology (they don't even explain it. One day, Captain America's shield was high grade titanium, the next it was raw adamantium). In addition, the artwork in Marvel and DC tends to be of musclebound men and overly busty women as their heroes. If you want super muscles, I recommend Fist of the North Star and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The writing tends to be much better than American comics. Naturally, there are exceptions. I'm still a huge fan of Batman and Spiderman. Batsy for being a perfectly normal human and still taking on the criminal world, and Spidey for just being awesome in all respects. The Watchmen is the only comic book series to win a Hugo award, and it absolutely deserved it. And of course, there's the Legion of Superheroes, which is my favorite long-running series ever for it's ability to stretch mysteries over great lengths of time while delivering top-notch stories to be resolved within 1 to 3 issues (some 30-40 issues passed from the time of Sensor Girl's introduction to the discovery that it was actually Projectra (who voluntarily left the league in the first place because she IRL banhammered Nemesis Kid for killing Karate Boy, and didn't want to be officially kicked out for violating the rules about killing the enemy(they totally would have let it slide too)).
  18. I'm a little sick of emo in general being used in AMVs. Your general timing and insertion of scenes worked well enough, but the video as a whole is nowhere near as good as the original Kingdom Hearts - Let Go video, which I can't seem to find anywhere on youtube, so here's a decent imitator that's good, but not as good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTjeZgR0-Cc
  19. 1. Do I need firewire? Only if you have an external devie that needs it. 2. A DVD burner with Blueray. Does this prevent playing of other DVDs? Not in the least. To play DVD movies, however, you will need a program that can interpret the data. 3. Is 7200 rpm SATA II OK? I'm still working off of the old IDE format. SATA II is fine. The real issue is space rather than speed of the drive. You'll want a minimum of 20GB for normal operations, and at least 80GB if you're going to use it for gaming. As 100+GB drives are available for relatively cheap, this shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure the drive is compatible with teh motherboard. 4. CPU and motherboard: Intel-E4500 Core 2 Duo. Will this cope with future developments, programs? Future programs, yes. Past programs (Win 3.1 era, for example) might have difficulty with it, but that's also a problem with newer versions of Windows. Addendum about Vista: Vista is ultimately designed to look pretty, not be functional. If you have programs that require you to get DirectX 10 (a Vista exclusive, according to Microsoft), I can provide links to DX10 for windows XP. It turns out that the only reason DX10 can't be installed to XP is because MS specifically inserted code into the end of the installation file that tells it not to install to XP. I'm about done with that level of BS. 5. Sound: On board, or not? Onboard is no problem if you aren't running older games. 6. Windows XP or Vista Premium? Given how utterly broken Vista is, I'd say XP. If you are going to go with Vista, you should know that past programs have maybe a 30% chance of working, it's multimedia support is severly limited, it resizes hi-def video to 320x240 resolution (in theory, to help prevent piracy), it refuses to work if your motherboard doesn't conform to certain specifications, and there's a virus called Blue Pill which you have to download yourself which will tell the Vista kernel to stop all it's bull and work like windows bloody well should (in other words, much needed). 7. Ram: More than 2 GB? Is DDR2-800 PC6400 OK? More than okay, it's just about ideal. 8. Modem, if Broadband: Single port ADSL? ?? Broadband is a term which refers to cable modems... In any case, either your motherboard should have an ethernet port or you'll need an ethernet card (I recommend a Linksys). Most DSL and cable modems are external and require you to supply an ethernet cable between them and the ethernet port in your computer. A single-port external modem is fine, but you may want to purchase a router if more than one person is to be using the connection. 9. DVD drives: Presently have 1 DVD player + 1 DVD burner. 1 drive seems norm now. Should I have both? If one dies, it's good to have the other, and burners tend to die on me after about 2 years.
  20. Alcohol 120% cuts you off after 30 days if you don't buy the full version. I was a little surprised when Avast picked up adware within the zip sitting on my hard drive, but said adware didn't exist anywhere else in my HD or ram, so I'm guesssing they weren't so evil as to integrate it into the program itself. Download it, run it, scan for it, relax.
  21. I can probably take most people in KOF '95 with Athena's team. There's a weird trick you can do with a powered up Kensou that'll take off 3/4 of the life bar in one hit (I have no idea what the combination is. I just end up doing it with alarming frequency).
  22. King of Fighters and Guilty Gear for 2d. Soul Edge series for 3d
  23. Sorry, I forgot I was on a hardcore gamers' forum. In that case, I've merely beaten more RPGs than most of you (let's see YOU beat STED: Starfield of Memorable Relics)
  24. FCE Ultra and nnnesterJ are my nes emulators of choice. FCE is missing supprot for maybe 2 formats but will gladly play most glitchy roms. nnnesterJ will play all formats but won't play glitchy roms.
