The PS2 was originally intended to be a multimedia device rather than a straight gaming console. Initially plans were to extend it's capabilities to something resembling a PC. This, of course, failed, but the PS3 succeeded in creating an environment with near-PC level interactivity. While in theory the Blue-Ray drive should be able to handle the speed, what with being considerably faster than the 360's would-be HDVD drive, those games which require installs sport polygon counts and textures that would greatly bog down the experience if everything were to be loaded from the disc. Before you biatch that the 360 did it alright, the 360's renders are of significantly lower quality, numerically speaking. Besides, have you taken a look at the underside of your PS2 discs lately? Despite the built-in shock protection of the PS2, and your doubtless extreme care to not leave the disc out or feed it to a passing dog (I'm looking at you, rental store customers), I'm thinking the bottoms of some of your discs are looking pretty scratched up due to laser passes (Check out FFX. On 3 seperate discs, theres a nearly identical wave pattern where the laser went for an FMV). Installing to the hard drive lessens the chance of a disc being scratched through normal use. I end with this: If you're so worried about space, buy a new hard drive for your PS3. You can swap it out with standard PC drives. You did know that, right?

I found Beyond Good and Evil awhile back for $10 at Best Buy. In this case, it's not that I waited for it to be so low, but rather that I had been searching for a copy for a couple years, only to have it practically beg me to buy it. I'd call it at a $40 game, $50 if it were longer. I also found Disgaea 2 at EBgames for $20. This one, after evaluation, was perfectly priced there.

Saw I am Legend. It was decent but not as awesome as anticipated. Played Ragnarok Online for hours. Solved a Rubik's Cube. Took 30 minutes and a hell of a lot of mental anguish.

Well, let's see... jRPGs are getting pretty imaginative for content, so I'll list some for more out there titles and scenarios. Just about anything from Arjen Lucassen's bands Ayreon, Ambeon, and Star One. 6 of the 7 Ayreon albums tell a spanning rock opera detailing the end of the world, the struggle to save it, and the destiny of a race of aliens from Planet Y. It's all related. Some Machinae Supremacy (machinaesupremacy.com for lots of freebies) would be awesome, especially Fury, Ninja, Ronin, I Know the Reaper, Rogue World Asylum, Through the Looking Glass, Reanimator, Ghost, Rise, Steve's Quest, Multiball, Anthem Apocalyptica, Origin, Masquerade, Winterstorm, Loot Burn Rape Kill Repeat, and the Sidology series. And that's just a sample of their awesome. YES's Tales From Topographic Oceans album Emerson Lake, and Palmer's Karnevil 9 (45 minutes of awesome) Blue Oyster Cult's complete Imaginos (their manager may have wrote it, but they wouldn't have played it if it didn't kick ass), Me-262, Flaming Telepaths, Veteran of the Psychic Wars, Subhuman, and just for the most sinister of villain themes, Harvester of Eyes. I honestly haven't ben able to get into a mainstream MK since 2. When my brother proved that he could kick anyone's ass with Baraka by spamming his damn near invincible jump kick, the series was basically over for me. Actually, I did like what Shaolin Monks was doing for the franchise, and I'd like to see more like it. The action-adventure format fits the tone of the characters more than a mere fighting game at this point, and your moves in it really did evoke the feel of the franchise in it's original form. As for this MK vs DC thing, can you say ripoff? Marvel vs capcom already did this formula, and actually had likeable characters on both sides. With MKvDC, I feel like I'll only be able to like Batman and whatever Teen Titans and Legion of Super Heroes get thrown in there.

The Olympics are a world event. To protest on the routes is one thing, but the dousing of the torches in protest of China is not an afront to China, but to the world. China believes they freed people from religion, but they failed to understand that one isn't free if they are unallowed to choose a religion to follow. They also believe they freed people from a tyrannical feifdom. The people were absolutely thrilled with the management of the feifdom. The number 1 problem with China right now is this: There is no emperor. Instead, we have dumbass generals who think their farts smell of cinnamon buns and couldn't care less for the people, and a Prime Minister who, while holding the people's support, is unable to effect change in a strong enough fashion to set the masses free.

All the other freebies kill your account after 30 days of inactivity. This can be extremely annoying when you're prone to long periods of complete disconnection, as I have been in the past.

I saw it coming. My brother and I were planning on using the Phoenix Wright editor that's currently in the works to make a mulitple perspective PW game. In some cases you would have to be defending people. In others, you'd have to put them away. Still, great news. Edgeworth vs Phoenix (I guess it would be Apollo now) with Edgeworth coming out on top each case. So much for our former heroes' perfect win streak (last case of Justice For All notwithstanding. PS1/2/3 The design fits the hand without restricting movement. a number of people complain about the position of the left analog stick, but these people need to re-examine exactly how the Xbox's stick feels. Try to make a comparison to the Dreamcast. N64 Nintendo proves that it IS possible to make a controller that requires 3 hands to use correctly. Fail. Gamecube Would've been great if a) I didn't feel like I was gonna break the damn thing, and the Z button wasn't the hardest to hit button ever.

Straight pink psychologically weakens the physical strength of the viewer. Sakura pink, oddly enough, inspires graceful movement. My favorite color, blue, psychologically strengthens the viewer. Red inhibits your ability to calculate math. How to win fights: Wear pink and hope the other guy wears blue. He'll call you a pansy and you'll likely kick his ass.

I'd have been playing FFXI back when it came out if, upon recieving the PS2 box as a present, I had discovered something other than a VISA requirement for account creation. I was perfectly happy to pay via debit, but the little VISA icon on a BofA card means nothing online. I'd still like to play it sometime, maybe once ProjectXI finishes so I can tag onto a free server. I hear that while most MMOs have 1-3 major storylines, FFXI has a total of 9 truly epic storylines. On an unrelated tangent, what's GW?

I wish companies would stop half-assing the PS3 games. The system's got the power for ultimate win, but you can't just click compile source. I'm giving you the evil eye, EA.

I don't bother watching the homo-erotic soap opera that the WW setup has become. If we assume it's faked for safety reasons, then the only guys there who could actually kick someone's ass and are still worth a damn personality-wise would be Hulk Hogan and the Undertaker as they're from back when this crap was real.
