  1. Moved this to Gossip Cafe :)

Welcome back Shiba! Drunk or not, it's great to see you back.

Hmmm... what kinda beer you drinking?

Making sandwiches, eh? I've always loved sandwiches more than plates of food. I like my Italian meats.

A physics degree sounds pretty badass if you got the math (calculus and above) skills.

LMAO.... New Jeep = Increased Ball Hair? That's a new one. Glad you're enjoying yourself!:D

And ash trays in cars? Haven't seen that in a decade.

  2. In the case of Street Fighter Alpha 2, the issue was with a very specific graphics compression/handling used by the game, via a custom chip in the cart. Naturally, Dump units had no support for these special chips. It's the same deal with Star Ocean and a few other titles, like Far Eden of the East.

It appears you are completely correct. It also seems the chip may have had a dual purpose to work as copy protection as well. But where were people buying copied SNES games?!?! I've never seen one in my life.

The chip Street Fighter Alpha 2 apparently used is the S-DD1, which caused obvious load times in the game to load all the sprites at the "FIGHT" screen.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-DD1_chip#S-DD1

  3. Oh there's a number of them, you just don't encounter the issues on emulators like you would on real hardware, and if dumps are fixed then you certainly won't.

http://ucon64.sourceforge.net/ucon64/SWC-compatibility.txt for example...1+2 entries, Earthbound being a case of both, number of others in that list, and that's just for the Super Wildcard.

It's funny seeing Street Fighter Alpha 2 on that list. I can specifically remember for years that game didn't work in any SNES emulator (borked graphics, but had sound). Sounds like this may have been the reason.

  4. I think many of our active or previously active members have become maybe a little cynical with the way 1Emulation has been ran the past few years. First and foremost, I will never take the full blame because that wouldn't make any sense. The emulation scene has changed greatly and a leader has to properly account for all of its staff members, as we all have our own personal lives and daily experiences to face outside of the Internet. Just browsing EFNET the other day (an IRC server) and checking out old IRC channels that I use to frequent only a few years ago, I was startled to find that many of them are now completely dead.

When you look at the emulation scene as a whole, there's always been one very obvious split, emulation sites with roms (let's call them "rom sites"), and emulation sites without roms (let's call them "emulator sites"). When you look at what sites lead the emulation scene, it's predominantly the rom sites, and many would argue it always has been this way. However, it's also fascinating to see what emulator sites remain at the top (there aren't many), and to look at how they manage this. Our present goal with 1Emulation is to essentially use the "tools" these emulator sites are using while pushing our social media presence.

Nobody said it would be easy, but it's fantastic that we are already seeing results. From increasing registrations on the forums, to monitoring an increase in site activity with Google Analytics, and finally a huge ranking boost on Alexa.com's Web Traffic Analyzer.

    1emu-traffic.png

Who's making this happen currently? Everyone.

But specifically I'd like to mention the four: Sypherce, Hardcore Rikki, Robert, and Jitway. All four have been really pushing the site like I haven't seen in a long time. I want to personally thank them here and say we've got a long road ahead of us, but let's KEEP PUSHING!

Hope is in the air. :-)

  5. 1Emulation has been a little late with the social media scene. Believe it or not, we finally created our first Facebook page earlier this year! Of course, Facebook has been around now for about 8 years, so we certainly held back our social presence for much too long. Regardless, we're doing pretty well for starting as late as we have, and we now are on Twitter, and reddit as well. Join us as we're planning to make a huge come back in late 2013 and early 2014. The emulation scene won't be the same...

Now for the big news -- we now have a new Facebook Admin. His name is Jitway and he's a veteran member of 1Emulation!

He'll be posting some amazing stuff on our Facebook page, as it is continuously and automatically updated with our latest gaming, emulation, and homebrew news as well.

You've got to join. Like us on Facebook and please welcome Jitway as our new leader of 1Emulation's social presence.

  6. I found out today that apparently Earthbound for SNES had built in anti-piracy protection against cartridge copiers back in the day. Apparently this game had Region Protection and many SRAM checks to see if the cartridge had only 8KB of ram.

    Enemies-EB1.pngM2copyright.png

If the SRAM checks fail during game play, the game will increase in difficulty substantially to almost impossible to beat. Quite clever might I say from the developers for almost 20 years ago.

Has anyone heard of other SNES games that employed similar measures? I just find all this quite fascinating.

  7. Sex...done, end thread.

Sex would be nice if it was an always available commodity. Sadly, it currently isn't.

I usually listen to a really heavy song I like and just take it to volume 20. I also break out the guitar and just wail away. Having a stiff drink sometimes helps as well. But things rarely get to me. I mean life is short and there is no need to get pissed off at things. When you look at it you see most the time that it is not even worth getting angry about.

Volume 20?!! No need to lose my hearing during the stress relief process!:lol: Guitar sounds like a great idea though. I have dabbled a bit at it, even grew some calluses on my fingers, but still nowhere near where I need to be. Sounds like a fine idea for meditative reasons. I shall do that.

  8. Question, whats the difference between this and say all the other emulators already out there? The user interface?

and my anti virus didn't let me download it, said it was a virus of some sort

Thanks for the heads up on this. The issue is exclusive to the new release of the emulator itself, as I downloaded the file directly from the developer's website, and it was flagged with a virus.

It appears that it may be a false positive (see here), but the results by VirusTotal are a bit out of the ordinary for a false positive.

Anyway, I have removed the file from the download database for now. Sorry about that.

  9. Never even knew this stuff existed. The following links are not meant to advertise, but educate as to how this is possible.

    ED64 Plus?

Now this one really puzzles me... a GBA to SNES adapter? WTF!?

    http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_33&products_id=168

    AD_ADAPTER_02.jpg

You can plug it into your SNES to play GBA game. Use your SNES joypad instead GBA joypad. You need to plug AV cable to this adapter for video output. It can not use SNES AV output. It can use on both PAL and NTSC version SFC/SNES. But its AV output is NTSC. (Take care)

    High quality 3rd party product.

    Compatible with most GBA games.

    Plug and Play.

    Light-weight and Travel-Friendly.

    Come with Link Port.

Come with a special AV cable.

Soooo.... is this stuff old or has it been around for a long time? :o
  10. Ever feel an enormous amount of anger in your bloodstream? So much anger that you want to release it on some poor inanimate object? I use to take my frustrations out on the punching bags, but I found that it would actually make me angrier. This has turned a simple problem into a more complex problem because now I am kinda stuck as to how to "vent" my anger.

What am I pissed about? More or less, the inability to get things I want done. It's funny, when I'm on the computer, I've contemplated throwing my wireless mouse out the window more than a hundred times.

I would say this is ordinary anger mixed with frustrations of daily life.

So how do you go about working with your anger? :P

  11. Simple for me I just don't give those that treat me with disrespect any acknowledgement that I even see them. If you want to be an ass then so be it but I will not give you the satisfaction of my time. Treat others as you want to be treated.

Curious Jitway, how often do the assholes confront your sudden behavior shift? And if so, how do you spill it on them?
  12. You don't drink alot of coffee...I do, I can't SLEEP without having a coffee. I drink around a gallon a day on average(6-8 large 20-22oz coffees), for serious. I don't think I really drink anything but coffee

4-6 hours and I'm fine, but I need 7 or 8 to feel "good". If I sleep like 10+ hours I feel like shit when I wake up.

Don't you have a lot of heart burn after all that coffee? If I have more than two cups, I get the insta-acidic-shits lol. It's got to at least make you super thirsty, as coffee is a diuretic?

If not, your body must be quite strong.

  13. I've been considering a mechanical keyboard for some time now after I tried one once. I'm using a wireless keyboard and there's sometimes an atrocious typing delay. I've tried moving it around, but there's probably too much wireless interference.

What mechanical keyboards would you recommend?

  14. Would never buy that latest and greatest vid card. Way too pricey and would be obsolete in 2 months. Wait at least 4 months after one comes out is the way to go.

Actually, I would say obsolete is a bit of a stretch after just 2-4 months. I bought a GTX 680 in March of last year and it still holds up to the top cards this year.

The price has hardly changed on average as well: http://camelcamelcamel.com/EVGA-GeForce-DisplayPort-Graphics-02G-P4-2680-KR/product/B007KC1R3A?context=browse

  15. It sounds like you're a player but to tell you the truth just cuz you got to second back doesn't mean you're necessarily allowed to third or home run.

Well said. I wouldn't call myself a player though, just someone participating with another woman in the heat of the moment.

Anyway, you didn't answer my original question of the thread? How does a first kiss with a new girl usually go for you?

  16. So this past girl I was dating, I was surprised to find she only french kisses. And once we started, it was hard to stop. Literally, first kiss I was feeling her back, suddenly grabbing her tits over her dress, and then slowly, but surely, moved my hands back down her back and grabbed her ass cheeks really tight. But, comparatively, this normally never happens on my first kiss with other girls. Yes, normally no ass or tits grabbing .... it's much more "casual" (at most just a lot of massaging around the back).... but at times could be french as well.

What have your guys experiences been like? Did you go for the french kiss as the initial smooch? Did you usually grab her ass? How did you go about it?
