  1. 3 dead (2 adults and a child). It seems pointless though, what was the bomber trying to prove? Has anyone claimed responsibility? At first glance it would appear to be some amateurish home-grown effort.

That's what baffles me the most. Nobody has claimed responsibility yet and it's been over 24 hours.

Today, they found how the bombs were made:

Pictures of the 8-year old who died were released today:

The first comment said it best: "The thing that upsets me most about this is that this was meant to be a happy day. The father of Martin would finish the race, they'd probably all hug and smile and there would be pictures. Maybe they'd go out for a nice meal at a restaurant to celebrate him completing the marathon. But no. Some selfish, violent, stain on humanity had to take all of that away from him. And for what? What does bombing people achieve. Someone will die because of this, either a drone strike or a lethal injection. More pain, more suffering, and for nothing. I truly hope this guy's wife pulls through and they can begin to rebuild their lives in peace." - Karate-do

And finally, Craig Ferguson said it best in the opening monologue on his show:

Pretty much represents the general consensus and anger at the people who perpetrated this horrible crime against humanity.

  2. Thanks for the warm welcome!

I have tinkered with my purchases in Virtual Console as well, that's what gave me the idea! :msnwink:

I cant imagine them reworking the entire game, if they wanted to retain its originality.

I have posted this on other sites and havent heard anything, so either there isn't much interest on the Xbox scene, or I just havent seen any substantial articles on this yet.

Out of curiosity, I looked into the PS3 version of the game as well, and found the structure, and the file naming, and size to be identical.

Basically, they are the same files, just packaged to work with the PSN.

From what I see, I can guess is that this Simpsons.sr file contains the US as well as the Japan ROM.

Beamish, you've come to the right place! I hope the staff and community here will be able to fully assist you.

Is it possible you can post the screenshots of the PS3 version having the exact same structure and file naming? This seems worthy of a news post on the front page of 1Emulation.

  3. Hello Beamish!

Welcome to the 1Emulation Community! We are your #1 resource for emulation and games since 2002.

As the owner of 1Emulation, I hope you enjoy your stay and that you stick around! :-D

    -------------------------------------------------

Now that I've got that out of the way, I think you've discovered something pretty amazing, Beamish! Honestly, I wouldn't be all that surprised if there are roms inside these XBLA files. One of our staff members (iq_132) several years ago found that this was also the case for Wii Virtual Console titles. You can see the thread here: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/topic/26916-nintendo-wii-virtual-console-games-just-roms-and-html-files/ ... believe it or not, the thread gained worldwide notoriety and shock at 133,761 views, as it was featured on the front page of Digg.com.

IMO, if we can prove that this is the case also for XBLA files, this could gain a lot of surprise (well, not with the coders  ) among the community. I will be very interested to see if the files you found are indeed roms and if they are an exact checksum/MD5 match with the roms already in distribution. Essentially, I want to know if Microsoft dumped these arcade roms themselves or just rebranded what was already available on the Internet for years.

  4. As many of you know, 1Emulation has users from all across the globe.

We are shocked and saddened by the travesties that occurred in Boston, Massachusetts today. As of this writing, at least two are dead, including an 8-year old boy, and 132+ injured from 2 blasts that occurred on the Boston Marathon strip near the finish line. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this tragedy.

Women who go braless may actually have the right idea, new research suggests.

According to the results of a 15-year study in France published Wednesday, bras provide no benefits to women and may actually be harmful to breasts over time.

"Medically, physiologically, anatomically, the breast does not benefit from being deprived of gravity," Jean-Denis Rouillon, a professor at the University of Franche-Comté in Besançon, told France Info.

Conducting the study at the university's hospital, Rouillon measured and examined the breasts of more than 300 women, aged 18 and 35, taking note of how the additional support provided by bras affects the body over time. (It should be noted the study does not mention breast size.)

Overall, he found that women who did not use bras benefited in the long term, developing more muscle tissue to provide natural support. As France's The Local notes, Rouillon also noticed that nipples gained a higher lift, in relation to the shoulders, on women who went braless. When bras are worn, the restrictive material prevents such tissue from growing, which may actually accelerate sagging, the study concluded.

Capucine Vercellotti, a 28-year-old woman who participated in the research, found that she breathes easier without the constraints of a bra.

"At first, I was a little reluctant to the idea of running without a bra, but I got started and after five minutes, I had no trouble at all," Vercellotti said, according to the Agence France-Presse.

But don't throw away your bras just yet, ladies.

Despite the findings, Rouillon said it would be dangerous to advise all women to take off their bras based on the study's sample, which may not be representative of the population.

Speaking to France Info, Rouillon cautioned women who have worn bras for a long time -- several decades -- from following the recommendation since they would not benefit from taking off their bras now.

So tell your girlfriends, your wives, and every woman you know that's not a grandma... to take them BRAS OFF!

Speaking of which, I'm still waiting for the 15-year panties study, where it also tells women to take it off (to increase booty size maybe?). Okay, this post sounds just perverted now, but overall this study is pretty awesome. :woahman:

I worry though, if women really do stop wearing bras... will their boobs start resting to the opposite sides and not together? Like the educational videos from the tribes in Africa and/or Australia? Hmmm. :lookaround:

  6. For over 11 years, we've been stubborn with the way we do news here on 1Emulation.

Essentially, the original method was simple, but messy. If there was a new emulator released, it would go in the Site News & Updates forum. If there was new information on a console or handheld, it would go in the Site News & Updates forum. If we had a website issue, it would go in the Site News & Updates forum.... you get the picture? Essentially, we didn't sort out our news into any specific categories. I'm happy to say those days are over!

During these past three days, I have personally went through over 270 pages of news posts, spanning 11 years, and re-categorized them into four new sections.

For news related material, it's now separated into 3 sections:

    -- Emulator Releases [/emu]

    -- Hacking and Homebrew [/hax]

    -- Gaming and Tech [/gtech]

If you like the old fashioned way we did news, you can only access the primary category for news:

    -- 1Emulation.com Newsroom [/news]

For site related material, it now has its own section:

    -- 1Emulation.com Information [/info]

Finally, make sure to take advantage of the 1Emulation ShortURL system if you haven't already! For example /emu means you can access the Emulator Releases forum directly by going to http://1emulation.com/emu in your browser... easy! :-)

  7. Well the emulators are not in there by default you have to manually add the relevent repository sources to the cydia app. Then you can install the emus/files from that particular repository. Its not an easy thing for someone who hasn't done it before but their are videos on youtube and various websites that guide you step by step.

I guess what I'm getting at is would it make sense then to upload the emulators for the iPad/iPhone/iTouch to our Downloads Section? Would people be able to use it and load it to their relevant Apple devices?

  8. I've actually been using it since the launch and I've upgraded all of my machines. I actually agree with Microsoft that the Start Menu was under-used, at least in my case, so it's removal didn't really bother me that much. I will say though that the "Modern" interface is god-awful. It seems like the only idea Microsoft had in mind was to make these applications as useless as possible and waste as much screen real estate on the least amount of information as they could. Virtually all of the apps are completely worthless and inferior to their desktop counterparts.

I find it fascinating you didn't use the Start Menu that much. Honestly, I had to install Classic Shell (start menu replacement) as soon as I upgraded to Windows 8. Although, I got to say, Classic Shell's GUI is not as comparable to the original Start Menu -- specifically for quickly searching files.

And you're right about Metro, I don't use it. And I hate having to upgrade the apps that I simply don't use. It's a shame this is the direction that Microsoft is going and that the new Windows Blue (Windows 9) seems to be even more Metro'fied. Ultimately, I need to buy a cheap touch screen to even consider using it.

I should also say I feel that the boot time for Windows 8 is misleading. It loads Metro right away, but it still takes the usual time to load all the desktop software behind the scenes. If you don't know what I mean, press Windows Key + D, as soon as you get into Metro.
