After over 4 years without a forum attack system, it finally has returned to 1Emulation! What is a forum attack system you ask? It's essentially an embedded video game within our forums that allow you to "attack" other members with guns, grenades, and various other weapons to gain notoriety, points, and money (credits). The more members you can "kill", the higher you can level-up! Much like Pokemon or World of Warcraft, you have to build your profile into a stronger and stronger character until it's almost impossible to kill.
For members who played the original forum attack system on 1Emulation, this one is a little different, but more or less the same. Just click the new yellow fist icon at the bottom of a person's profile to attack them. You can't miss it!

A certain 'Ubersheep' is bringing the concept of achievements to retro emulators and asking for testers. So far there's no love for arcade titles, only select Megadrive games are supported.

I really am doubting if this will ever catch on for the one reason that it requires completely modified emulators. If the author could somehow write a plugin for the most popular emulators -- that would probably be the smartest bet.
Even then, I strongly believe he should also focus more on the emulators for gaming systems, rather than PC. For example, people who are emulating Neogeo with FBA on their PS3 and have internet access. Regardless, it's a pretty clever project, and I *do hope* it catches on. Perhaps one of us should send him an e-mail so he can post about his project here?

As of late I haven't been very active here at 1Emu, or any other forum for that matter. I also haven't been maintaining my online projects for a while now. So what have I been up to? Well, it has been a project of self-improvement and one of the biggest parts of that has been getting my weight under control. At my worst when I started this about 2 years ago, I used to weigh 285 Lbs. and I'm only 5'11". I'm glad to say that I've made a lot of progress, as of a few weeks ago I'm down to 165 Lbs. Here's the closest thing I have to a before-and-after, the photo to the left is from late 2009 and I weighed about 260 Lbs there:So what did I do? To be honest there wasn't any silver-bullet to it. I just started eating better with very small changes, like cutting out soda or just ordering a little less fast food. Doing that alone made me drop about 30 Lbs in only a few months. That motivated me to start doing more like walking a mile or two per day and cutting out fast food completely. Today, I walk 5-6 miles per day and I track my calories carefully and try not to go over 1,200 per day.It it took a lot of time and hard work, but I have to say it's been worth it. Today my target weight of 150 Lbs. seems well within reach. If I could tell anyone struggling with this problem one thing, it would be to beleive that you can do it. It's really tough not to see those immediate resluts but it's important to realize that even small changes do make a difference.

May I ask -- once you lost over a 100 pounds, did your skin adapt with the weight loss? I know some people who lose extreme amounts of weight have to get surgery to remove the excess skin. I hope this question is not too personal.
It really is about believing in yourself. It's too easy to doubt oneself or fall into a pool of negativity and/or depression. How has the response been with your family and friends? They must be ecstatic. I'm sure you've already had some old acquaintances who came across you and didn't even recognize you at first!
Finally, how did you and continue to keep yourself motivated? Statistically, people who lose weight tend to gain it back again, and sometimes even more than their original weight. It's very common for humans to start on a project and then suddenly (sometimes without even consciously noticing) to seep back into the old ways of things. Have you caught yourself ever?

I won't be buying one for a while yet as I feel my PS3 still has plenty of life left in it. I will most likely stick with Sony though for the future.
Likewise, PS3 is an amazing console once you hack it
... Why do I get the feeling it will take more than a decade to hack the PS4?I also hope most of the PS4 games for the first few years also come out on the PS3. It would suck if it weren't the case.

Hello everyone! It's been a week since 1Emulation was last online. Let's just say we just came back from the upgrade from hell! Miskie and I spent the entire week working with Invision Board Tech Support while optimizing and cleaning up our 11 year old database (remember, 1Emulation started in 2002!) for upgrade. I'm very excited and pleased to say we are back online and better than ever! Unfortunately, we have good news and bad news. Let's start with the good news...
The good news is we're back online! The database has been optimized considerably and we removed over 70MB of old crap that was lingering around. We also successfully installed a new downloads section and are in the process of re-installing the forum attack system. Over the next few weeks, we'll be fully activating the downloads section for public consumption with hundreds of the latest emulators and plugins ready for our community!
The bad news is we found evidence that our forums were hacked several times over the course of about 3 years. We usually keep up with patches, but I guess we weren't fast enough. Though we found no proof that our database was stolen, we want to strongly suggest to all our members to PLEASE CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS! This is extremely important.
Part of the reason why were offline for so long is we had to meticulously remove the infections from the database that were dropped from SQL injection attacks, as well as deleting various files that were dropped on the server to re-infect the database. I'm happy to say it should all be gone now.
Finally, we also lost some private messages, status messages, forum notifications, and various settings on the forums that were made between November 2012 and March 31st, 2013. Unfortunately, these were unrecoverable. We apologize to our members if they lost anything important.
Over the course of the next few days, we'll be adding a brand new design for 1Emulation v6.0, as well as some more improvements. We also have installed a new backend system to control and limit the spammers who register on the forums.

Has anyone noticed lately that anything you buy now states it is using some form of advance something? Let's say you buy some shoes. Somewhere will more than likely be a message stating that these said shoes are equipped with the latest advance shoe tying technology or whatever. Or maybe a burger with advance ketchup saturation. Pens will now have advance shirt pocket clips.

Just noticed this thread. Honestly, this is nothing new. It's marketing 101 and it's what got Sketchers sued to hell with their bullshit "Shape Ups" that we're supposed to give you six-pack abs.
It's very prominent with electronics. A good example would be digital cameras and seeing the "Full HD" sticker on it. Really? Full HD is a minimum of a 2-mega pixel camera which we've had for over 10 years now.

One of the main reasons in my opinion that porn is used so much, is that its getting harder (lol) for guys to pull women, one night stands or long term. Western women have way too much power. As I've got older i can quickly filter out women who match up or dont match up and if i can be arsed making my moves. I mean what, its been nearly a year for me now and its the longest i have gone.
But i have so much on my plate at the moment and my mind is that busy that getting a partner is way down on my list.

I got an offer from a till girl, but she is deaf, no seriously she is deaf. And I went to make a move and she knew I was gonna do it and she got nervous so i backed off. Many traffic accidents today are happening from texting and driving. I see it all the time when I'm on the road and that people have their phones literally sitting on their laps.

I don't blame for you deleting your Facebook. There needs to be a national world holiday that we turn all electronics off and are forced to go outside and meet people.
Forums > Facebook? I totally agree. The main reason? The power of using a username over your real name. Less consequences and more freedom to say what you truly believe.

I wholeheartedly support the legalisation and taxation of both prostitution and recreational drug manufacture and distribution for mass consumption, following strict medical guidelines and prescriptionless oversight. I wouldn't consider it a sin just as much I don't consider anything we humans do as sinful simple based on the fact that we as a species are incapable of taking responsibility for our actions and require scapegoats like religion and something to tell us that it's not our faults we're dumbfucks. I wouldn't consider the above morally questionable either as long as it doesn't interfere negatively with the lives of other people physically, their convictions notwithstanding.

I just realized... Bambi is the only female currently on 1emulation. It's like we got the Princess or Queen of the emulation scene among us. Now don't put her on a pedestal, but men, be grateful!

Which is the most fucked up thing ever. This should be illegal that people who already have bought the physical copy of the game will have to purchase the digital copy to play it on their new system.
And companies wonder why piracy is such a rampant problem....
