OverlordMondo Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 I heard a rumor that Half-Life 2 is actually going to be a turn based card game. Any truth to this?
Gryph Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 I heard a rumor that Half-Life 2 is actually going to be a turn based card game. Any truth to this?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Haha, I don't think there is any rumor to that. Anyway, PLEASE GET THE GAME FROM STEAM. I urge you to not buy retail even if you see it in stores. Stores are putting it on shelves but Vivendi is blocking Valve from unlocking the game. If you have purchased a copy of Half-Life 2, we are sorry you are still waiting to play. This is not Valve's choice. Vivendi is insisting that the game has not yet been released, and has threatened that Valve would be in violation of its contract if we activate the Half-Life 2 Steam authentication servers at this time. Thanks for your patience and we will update you when we have more news to share.http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&id=344
random guy Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Should have known this would happen given that Sierra went under.
Daeval Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Who's to say you'll be able to activate it if you get the steam version? Just out of curiosity?
Gryph Posted November 14, 2004 Author Posted November 14, 2004 (edited) Who's to say you'll be able to activate it if you get the steam version? Just out of curiosity?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> You won't yet but Valve is ready and willing to unlock it now, but Vivendi won't let them. EDIT: HAHAHAHA! Agozer Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Wow. An unexpected move from Vivendi... at least for me it was.
Agozer Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHA! ROFL. That was pretty good.
Gryph Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 What was that for? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Right now it seems that many retailers are putting HL2 on shelves despite the Nov. 16th release date. On Nov. 16th Valve will turn on the authentication servers so people can actually play the game but people who have already bought the game are pissed because they can't play it. Valve wants to unlock it but Vivendi isn't letting them.

By the way, you should be more selective with your use of the rolleyes smiley face since it doesn't really make sense in that post.

Agozer Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Not to mention that Vivendi and Valve are in the midst of somekind of legal skirmish the last I heard.... (I could be wrong though.)
