Anyone playing Dark Souls?

Picked it up on the Steam sale a few weeks ago. Is slowly becoming one of my favorite games of all time. Anyone else played/playing it?

Nope. Quite a bit of a backlog. Also got a slight bias toward Saints Row: The Third.

Played the original demon souls and i must admit i did enjoy the game thing is though it was too hard having to reply the same area over and over to get that bit futher

only to face an insanely difficult boss fight lose and have to repeat the level again.Not my idea of fun i had to resort to the soon as i die reset the console cheat

so id start where i died with all souls intact.For the above reasons i gave dark souls a miss

I play it but it's sooooooooo hard. I try it once a week til I die then I quit.

As frustrating as the death mechanics are in the game, I feel like it plays a big part in making you feel like a regular human in a dark relentless world. It's a part of the reason that I'm enjoying it so much, when I finally down the big bad at the end of the zone I feel that someone with a similar physical skill-set would be able to down the baddie too.

 

Although I do stop every now and again because the frustration, I think it's worth playing through it.

Oh I agree it's a good game but I'm just saying its difficulty is way hard. It makes me not want to play.

I guess my attention span has shrunk that much, if I was still 10 I'd be up all night playing it like super metroid.

There's always time, you just find other ways to occupy yourself. :\ Part of growing up I guess.

Got my hands on the game some time a go and desperately trying to make progress in it. The first boss was... a wake-up call to say the least. The game has since nailed my balls to the wall several times since.

 

The most frustrating thing has to be that you're never quite sure if you've accidentally traveled to a place where the opposition mercilessly wipes the floor with you from the get-go (as in, 1 or 2-hit KO). I don't even want to get started on enemies that use status effects which you aren't equipped to deal with.

You can clear the late-game area's right from the start after the tutorial. It isn't easy however and I don't recommend it until you've familiarized yourself with the game first. I got started on the expansion part of the game and just stopped playing afterwards, it's one of the best titles I've ever played.
