+ T + Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I should probably clarify something here; my work on FBL was all very much experimental. I was playing around with various things and also testing the limits of what I could and couldn't do in terms of coding. That really was the whole purpose of it, I was just enjoying what I was doing and learning, so I'm not surprised that (in addition to all the the things that were added and fixed) there were things that also got broken, particularly in the UI which I was never really too bothered with. So what I'm saying is, if things need to be rolled back to undo any side-effects of my experimenting then, by all means do so. The entire UI could could in fact be rolled back to any previous version very quickly and easily.
gamez fan Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 i was going to mention this to destronger rolling back the UI for now would be a good for those that use the favs and sort features
RatherAnnoyed Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Am I just being really stupid, or has high score saving been disabled altogether?1944 just wouldn't save the high score last night. Wouldn't even write the file to the highscores folder.I even checked previous versions back to 1.5. 1.5 saves the file... but still doesn't load those high scores in when you load the rom.Even checked CoinOPS 3 sunset. Doesn't do it either (though I've no idea what version of FBL that runs to get 1944 going).Anyone? Am I just missing something (I am enabling high scores in the menu for each game), or what?
+ T + Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 High score saving hasn't been deliberately disabled but it's not something I tested when updating the cores, so it's possible that it got broken in the CPS2 core. Do you know if high scores save successfully on any other games?
RatherAnnoyed Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I didn't get round to testing it on other cores, no. I just thought "huh, coulda swore it USED to save my scores" and tested it with the same game on an earlier version. As I say, sort of weird that it did actually save the file in 1.5, but didn't then load it on a reload of the rom (1.1, 1.9 and 1.7 didn't even save the file). I haven't paid much attention to high scores on the emulators on the xbox recently; due to the number of versions we've been going through recently for FBL/COPS, I didn't get much chance to even play the games, let alone attempt a high score.(Most of my "xbox time" recently has been spent on just updating stuff!) I'll try another game or two out tonight. Is it feasible that it could be borked on a core by core basis? Oh, by the way, I just found someone else who has the same problem (got this from another forum): "Am I just being silly, has anyone got any version of Final Burn Legends to save any Hi score. I am now running V1.10 and have gone in to the options once the game has loaded and turned on Hi score saving but nothing. Tried a few games including Progear, batsugun and 3 wonders with no hi scores being saved. has anyone managed to get fba legends to save any score and if so which version are you running and which game saves" Huh. Progear was probably one I woulda tried, too.
RatherAnnoyed Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Yeah, looks like the problem is across the board. I also tried Aerofighters and Blazing Star, same issue.
+ T + Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Those 2 games actually use exactly the same core as the CPS2 games. But based on the post you quote above it does seem to be an issue with all cores. probably due to the updated FBA code not playing nice with the FBL UI. Solution would be to either rollback the FBA hiscore code or update the UI code.
RatherAnnoyed Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Haha, really? I even tried to pick two games I thought wouldn't be on that core (a videosystem/visco and a neo geo). Didn't have the internets to hand, so didn't check.
+ T + Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 NeoGeo and CPS2 use the same core. Now that you mention it though, I think only the 2nd and 3rd Aerofighters games were released on the NeoGeo so the original probably does run on the default core in FBL after all.
RatherAnnoyed Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Aha, just assumed that cps2 and neogeo were on a different core, you live and learn.I... suspect that something happened after FBL 1.1/1.3. I'm sure I remember it saved high scores back then.
destronger Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 i didn't really touch the neogeo/cps2 cores in this release. just a roll-back to v1.9.
fandangos Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Hey +T+ do you release somewhere a Final Burn Legends build? I mean ready with games and videos? One more thing does FBL loads games based on a static list or I can add my own mame build?I really would like to play Bang Bang Busters and Treasure of the Caribbean with FBL.
+ T + Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I've never distributed a release complete with ROMs, nor would I support such a release. destronger has taken over development of FBL now and is doing a great job in terms of adding newly supported games. So you're better off waiting for his next release.
fandangos Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Ok, I understand. My question is: If I get FBL 1.7 (for example) and add in the rom folder Treasure of the Caribbean and Bang Bang Busters. Would it show in the game list or it would only show the games in a "good games list"?
