Alpha Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 Report all problems, bugs, and your questions here regarding the Mugen XP Patch.
Alpha Posted October 18, 2003 Author Posted October 18, 2003 Well so far I just know of one bug after looking at the Patch Settings which we were lazy to fix since it's not that big of a deal. Apparently the patch adds the following files on in the DATA folder that MAY not be needed. I need to double check and makesure. The files are: data\Menu1.dah data\Menu1.dal data\Menu1.ttf data\Menu2.ttf data\Menu3.ttf This might be some files we had for Life Bars or something since the Mugen Patch is basically a stripped version of my mugen. I don't know who made the files, I tried reading them from notepad, but you couldn't read anything. We will most likely remove these files from the patch if they are not needed in the next release which will most likely be next week or so. (We were really busy working on the website all day as cheesy as it looks!)

Alpha Posted November 1, 2003 Author Posted November 1, 2003 You need to download it again. You downloaded a incomplete copy.
Ares Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 I still cannot get the XP patch to work with mugen. I have an OLD (don't laugh) Voodoo 3 3500 TV AGP card. XP 2000. 512mb ram
Alpha Posted November 9, 2003 Author Posted November 9, 2003 Ehh another graphics card. Have you done a Windows Update? See if there are updated Drivers available to download for it. That always helps.
Ares Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 (edited) Yeah, I got the updated driver for it, which isn't easy considering that 3dfx is no longer around (bought out by Nvidia i think). But whenever I start up mugen, even in 640x480x16 mode, and trying the different vesa modes, I just get a bunch of vertical lines, all scrambled up, i resize the window then i get orange horizontal lines across the top. Go figure.. I guess i just need a new graphics card, but I don't play many pc games as it is...this card has been a workhorse for the past several years, i hate to get rid of it. Alpha Posted November 9, 2003 Author Posted November 9, 2003 I've never even heard of this problem. Also since your not getting an Error which you would get with a Real Incompatible card, then that would be different. But your getting weird lines, so then YES, your graphics card needs to be replaced. I recommend buying one from the ATI or nVidia series, they have both been tested to work with the patch.
Ares Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 here's the funny thing, i'm running mandrake linux 9.2, and had no problems starting it under linux, i was just trying to get the windows version up and going. Oh well, guess i'll stick to linux for now. Thanks for your help
Alpha Posted November 10, 2003 Author Posted November 10, 2003 Hehe.. that's great you got it on Linux! I'm going to install Linux soon myself. And since the platform now is Linux with ElecByte, you get a lot more updates and stuff.
jetray Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 I have win2000, ATI rage 128 (GL) card, creative SB live-I tried your patch, because I think win2000 is an upgrade of winxp-I don't really know if my video card support vesa, I think it does, cuz I had once played mugen on win 95 on this same computer, and I haven't changed my video card. I used to get "initializing sound: no sound hardware found" ... "can't change video mode to 320x240x16bits" "switch to 640x480x16bits? [y/n]" [y] "Library <build in> message: can't change video mode" "Error message: you need a VESA driver to run M.U.G.E.N" after installing the patch, I only get "initializing sound: no sound hardware found" "Library <build in> message: can't change video mode" "Error detected" I think I am closer to getting it to work. I'll be grateful if you can explain what the problem is.
jetray Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 sorry, i think I misunderstood that win2000 is not an upgrade of winxp but a downgrade rather. Therefore I upgraded my os to win xp. This still doesn't fix the problem, however. the game now exits with the same message as above (when run from command line). I have also checked that my video card does have VESA2.any help will be appreciated. btw, why alot of other games end up not being able to run after i upgrade to xp?i am not able to access my yahoo email account either. any help on that is also appreciated.
ruiner9 Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 Okay, well... ever since I got WinXP like a year ago, I've been waiting for a time when I can finally put my 4gb MUGEN folder to good use again! And now I can! I think. Here's my system specs and my problem: 3.0ghz P4 processorIntel MoBo w/ 800mhz fsbPNY Verto GeForceFX 5650 8x AGP 256mb video cardSoundBlaster Live! card w/ front mounted input box1GB PC2700 DDR RAM Now, whenever I try to run Mugen (through mwc.exe or otherwise) at it's native resolution, the screen goes black and I have to exit manually. When I try to run any resolution at 24 bit color, I get the "change resolution to 640x480x16?" screen. I type "y" but the keyboard won't respond to any input EXCEPT for the windows button, which I need to again exit manually. Am I missing something? The only other problem I have is that it won't detect my soundcard, but I plan on using VDMsound for that once I get this all fixed. Any options anyone can offer me would be greatly appreciated. I miss Evil Ken's insane combo madness!
LegionX1 Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 (edited) Exery time i try to install the patch it says "file corrupted download it again" what's up with that . i done it many times and it's the same thing Can you help me? Edited November 25, 2003 by LegionX1
samoht Posted November 26, 2003 Posted November 26, 2003 I'm trying to figure out how to set up my joysticks for mugen. Even when I use the joystick to key exe, I can't seen to get it to work correctly. Right now mugen will only recognize the d-pad & 2 buttons of my 10-button joystick.
