Stryker412 Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 I'd put my money on it being a clone, as for supporting SDHC cards....no idea. Theres been zero announcements from the R4 team regarding any new version or SDHC support, and from other reports the R4 manufacturing plant has been shut down (However restarted elsewhere). That site you linked to is obviously bogus, and is an identical clone of the real R4 site save for the fact it uses ASP where the real site, does not. I'd bet on that obvious clone, not supporting SDHC. But it could. You're still getting an inferior clone that will probably have issues. Then again, you may not. Just cause it's a clone, doesn't mean it WILL suck.I can't say here.......you could wind up worse or better off. Ok well I have decided to refuse shipment when it comes in, and will return it. I don't want a knock off. How about just ditching the R4 and going with a CycloDS from divineo? That's probably a good idea. I've heard the CycloDS is better than the R4, anyway. How is divineo for ordering?
Devia Eleven Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Would anyone recommend ordering from gameyeeeah ?
ken_cinder Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Would anyone recommend ordering from gameyeeeah ? I got my R4 through them. Probably one of the cheapest places too. Shipping was a tad slow, but apparantly at the time they had some site issues and a database crash. I still got my stuff, and it didn't take TOO long. Use the code GBATEMP too when you order, for a discount. They appear to be out of stock right now though. Notice the "Pre-order", as is Divineo.
BlackKnight Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Why not just get the M3DS Real and cut all the bs?
Devia Eleven Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I hate this, which would be the best one for me to buy? Everyone is claiming that either R4DS, Cyclo, or M3DS is the best.
BlackKnight Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Put it this way- the M3DS Real has EVERYTHING the R4DS has, plus; -SDHC support-Inbuilt emulators-Cheats-Realtime saving ..and comes with its own GBA / Memory Slot-2 solution.

According to GBAtemp, the CycloDS is rated better than the M3DS.

But still, the M3DS Real does look very nice. I wouldn't mind having one if I could find a place to sell my R4.
ken_cinder Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 The whole SDHC thing is totally stupid anyway. An 8GB card will set you back far more than 4x2GB cards will. Don't gimme the whole physical space issue or the need to carry around 3-4 cards, they're tiny! Put em in your pocket/backpack whatever. I have yet to see one come without one of those little plastic cases. First site I picked up (For point of reference only) an 8GB MicroSDHC with a USB reader = £29.99 or 4GB with same reader for £12.99. The gap is much larger in retail, and slightly larger for Ebay.Non HC cards can be had for almost nothing now, under $10 for a 2GB card. I paid like $17.99 for 2x2GB.

It's a future-proofing feature, I think. There is no way I would buy an 8gb card today, but somewhere down the line, when they drop to $20 or so card, I'd like to be able to buy one without having to buy a new flashcard too. So yeh, R4 not supporting it is something I think will bite people in the ass at some point. Especially since other similarly priced flashcards support it.
Stryker412 Posted March 21, 2008 Author Posted March 21, 2008 Well it turns out the order I thought I canceled with Gameyeeeah wasn't so I'll be getting the R4 sometime late next week.

Exp44 Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 I didn't know there were R4 dealers in the US, had I known that I wouldn't have bought from DX in Hong Kong... oh well. As for SNES emulators, you might want to try SNESDS as well.
