But really folks.... in xbox modding 2008. shouldn't we all Have at least a 400 gig HD.

 

Maybe C should be played to the masses but D is HD Territory.

 

I Remember releasing a set on sky years ago. I didn't try to please anybody and ended up pleasing many.

 

So this post is only for the goddess..... I remember reading one of your first post. in the sense you were willing to help out. or should i say yearning. you stand so knowledgeable now. it makes me jelouse.

Well C is done now D will actually be alot smaller as the game selection will be tight eg about 50 or so. I lost my logon to sky many years ago if you know how to get me onto there its a good place to release I heard it was on there anyways Cheers PS D would be 720P sorted for sure

 

PS also thinking about patching XBMC to load mame zip files and launch them as well as default.xbe games

What do you mean by mods?

 

You can just walk right into sky and get a membership. Did it myself twice in the last year or so.

Also I have an issue now this patch is so big and so much has changed theres a problem with syncing the game... it comes due the fact that alot of roms will be extra in the folder. It will patch fine but when you scan for roms it will add all the issued ones..... dont know how to overcome this with out a totally new build really

Aside from using a hex editor to change names, I wasn't aware that I could modify the .xbe. You mean that I can make my own modifications now!!!!? Please, don't take that ability out. And somebody, for the love of christ PM me and tell me how to make my own mods to the .xbe.

I think this problem may be able to be overcome with torrentzipping the entire build, but I couldn't be sure until we tried it.

XS Unless you have advanced Assembly & reverse engineering skills, then there are not exactly many things you will be able to alter this way

i am trying to decide whether to use anisotropic or bilinear filtering on arcades. i know that anisotropic should give a clearer image, but is there a performance hit when using it?

I didn't follow along in the other (older) threads when i got sick to find out if 128MB Ram upgrades are now supported, so i'm once again advocating that functionality be included in this.

 

furthermore, i saw a discussion about direct rom launching from UnleashX. I do not use XBMC as a dash...XBMC is a great media center, but a poor/unstable dashboard, and it will remain so until one can create a 100% customized environment, with the ability of nested virtual folders, as well as the many other features that make UX the better choice for a dashboard. So, i'd like to see this functionality for direct launch within UnleashX be included also.

 

i know this next request is a longshot, but i'd kill for some systemlink capabilities. some pals of mine are dying to play Street Fighter Alpha 3 online with me, but since i refuse to play infront of a PC screen, if i don't play it on an xbox or Ps2, it isn't going to happen.

 

 

As for size, I'm inclined to agree with others here....maybe a multiple disc set is in order....i have 5 xboxes here....2 with 500gb drives, 1 with a 400gb, and 2 with 300gbs. I've got the space to install this to the hard drive. If i get all the games AND the slick/flashy interface but i lose the ability to play off a single disc, screw the single disc!

 

 

As for direction, I personally would like to go for A....one never knows what games get left out. I played Gals Panic a lot when i was younger, and based on the "no nude" games stance (Miss world 96 nude), i have a feeling that some games that would be enjoyable for certain people will not see support in this emulator, which would force me to have 2 emulators on my xbox to do the same thing. My personal goal in Emulation is to eliminate all the doubles and non-working stuff....not to weed out what I "MIGHT" not play. As it stands right now, instead of overwriting my old MAME roms folder when this came out, i was forced to keep 2 copies of Mame (Arcades and Mameox128+) on the drive just to make sure that any games that were not supported by Arcades that played fine for me were still kept (128mb supported games, "nude" games, etc).

 

so for me, i see the best option as Option C with a menu option to turn it into Option A

A will never happen now. You can add your own roms....for me UX (ill help out the author if I can get in contact with him as I dont have source anyways to add it, I need the source to help here) cant really do anything XBMC cant and the skin engine is years behind and so is the feature list so ill never go there as well sorry. Mouse support and 128Meg support has been scrapped now as well, the stance is

 

If its good ill add it if its not for a standard Xbox config or just clutter it wont make it.. it was the goal from the start and it should stay this way, for people that want more they really need to switch to HK Plus build and also to BAED its really what you guys want.

 

Im looking for ideas to simplfy the game sorting really and good games to add all the rest to me isnt worth while (mouse support doesnt look to hard but it has some issues and if anyone wants to know the issues ill help them sort them out)

 

Sorry guys I need to set the direction again its getting into the grey area somebody should look into altering BAED to what they want it for, people that want tonnes of options and all games.

I don't know how many times I have to say that BAED and HK builds suck.

 

I don't think you understand that without somebody to remap buttons, these emulators are worthless. I really don't see the problem of adding the games and having the ability to have them turned off by default. Looks like nearly 50% of the people want A, and since it won't be in anybody's way that doesn't want it, I still can't figure out what the hangup is.

I have said for years and years that I want a clean simple interface and this was the vision this is the reason why I split from Mamedox and HK as we worked together on it. That design Philosphy was set years ago and is why arcades is arcades now... and also is why the other builds are the way they are now. To change this philosphy without compeling reasons wont happen to me. There seem to be enough support for more stuff I say get a team together and just do it, it would be welcomed by people id say. I personally would never download it but im sure it would get alot of support and like BAED (PS although I helped out ive never actually seen BAED) id help with small things if needed.

 

I played some of those games and they are so bad and have issues I dont want to help fix, you guys can fix them no issues there but I wont be id rather be moving to an HD EMU thats simple and pretty.

Does that mean that we can have your source when you deviate and go for the HD emu integrated with XBMC? Reinventing the wheel when 95% of the job is already done for me in Arcades is not a very attractive proposal.

 

The way I figure it, there are only between 300 and 400 games left that work that are not in Arcades now. Only about 40 or so of them need remapping.

 

Then there is a few GUI options, like being able to turn those roms off that I'd like to add.

 

Other than that, your emulator is the perfect emu. It's really only about 3 hours work according to what you have said about how little effort it takes to implement it. You've probably spent more time telling me no than it would take to actually do it.

 

I'm still trying to figure out why you bothered asking everyone what they'd like in the first place if you knew from the start you weren't going to add them.

you dont have the skills or my vision and it would ruin my vision Id say if you want help with your own vision I can give it but MAMEdox source is for you, I would do it if I supported the vision but for me the vision isnt right and the way you want to go forward wont have me along for the ride.

 

you have your vision you have said it enough and lobbied hard but honestly I dont want to be part of it and dissagree totally when I think about it.... I support your vision is right for you and that you should find a way to make it happen, never give up on your dreams . So for now I must bow out as this discussion on putting in these games it isnt for me its for everyone who wants them in.

 

The question of what people wanted was in part for you if its false well I could tell you if its true you should be able to get the skills to do it no worries
