L.S.D Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Is VF5 (or VF for that matter) big in Asia? I am hard pressed finding an arcade machine for it. On the other hand, Tekken is very popular especially in my region. Yeah it is from what I have herd, its big in Korea but it is monster in Japan. Number one fighting game in Japan I think, I could be wrong. LSD, you NEED to get VF5 online man, it is awesome. It does not matter to me if you are new to the series, I was helping out a lot of new to VF people earlier today. Now I need to get a PS3 to play Tekken online. By the way I am buying DOA4 online tomorrow prolly. I played the demo earlier and I thought it was OK but VERY overrated. I will reserve my final opinion of DOA4 till I have the complete version.Didn't get an XBOX360 yet. Still undecided whether to get a PS3 or X360. As of right now I would say a 360. PS3 does have Tekken 5DR online but man we have been playing that already on the PSP for over a year now I think. I would suggest getting a PS3 a little later. 360 does have VF5 and DOA4 online to play. I know what kind of games you are into, we have been forum whoring for years now, I would suggest you getting a XB360.You seems to know me But as I mention in the other thread, I am not sure I can play online for XBOX360, as I can only get modded XBOX360 here.Modded 360's can go online, just make sure you're using the newest firmware (if it's firmware modded). Modchips are safe as far as I know. That's good to hear. Does that mean I can be an XBOXLIVE member? and can duke out online?

Wizard Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Wow, it's like you two aren't adapte at playing any fighter you pick up right away. DOA4 is easy to pick up.
Fatal Rose Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 Wow, it's like you two aren't adapte at playing any fighter you pick up right away. DOA4 is easy to pick up. VF5 handles waaaaaaay easier and way better IMO. Going to DOA4 from VF5 is like taking a step down in all aspects.
Wizard Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Actually. VF5 is less newbie friendly compared to DOA4. Don't give me any sort of BS that VF5 is more newbie friendly then DOA4.

Guess I have to get used to it, been playing VF for the past ten years or so. To me at least it is way harder to control then Vf or Tekken is.
L.S.D Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 DOA is the easiest to play with. but i still can't execute some air combos for the woe of me
Fatal Rose Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 I think I remember the creator of DOA saying he was inspired by VF I think.
BlackKnight Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Well put it this way, I was good at DoA2 about 5 or 6 years ago. This game however has swapped around a bunch of commands needlessly and made all the strings longer for some reason. Its only improvement is in the countering really- the rest is just a bunch of odd changes for me to wrap my head around.
Wizard Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Well 4 is based on Online (Which in turn is based on 2LE) since 3's engine wasn't so good. It's trying to be more "Tekken" like with the aircombos and strings, but it's 3 button control scheme (Counter wasn't a button in the original AC version, it was B+K or P I don't remember) is based on VF's.
Fatal Rose Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 Is DOA4 really worth getting into? I was trying to play the demo again but was not feeling it at all. The main character I use was not selectable either, but my second main was (Ryu). It's just so hard to get a hold of, it's like I just can't grasp it. It's hard as hell to me for some reason. Specially after playing VF5 so much, playing DOA is like taking a step down.

There was a Hold button. Counter was B+Hold. Throws didn't have a button- it was Hold+Punch.
