Wizard Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 x300 with 64mb... does not compute... ... ... I'm upgrading my video card to the newly released GeForce 7800 GS because 1) PCI-E still isn't the standard and 2) Because I have an overclocked 9800 Pro thats been living under massive amounts of cooling...and it's old. Problem is, it isn't even out in Canada yet according to my sources.
garyoak99 Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 x300 with 64mb... does not compute... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why doesn't that compute?
Gryph Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 The 7800GS is hot. It's nice to know they haven't forsaken us AGP folk just yet since it's still a very viable interface. But I'm waiting for DX10 cards. No use upgrading from 6800GT for like 2 games.

I was wondering about it since both video cards have only 64 MB! No they don't, I have a 128MB Radeon 8500. http://www.ati.com/products/radeon8500/radeon8500128/ I didn't think they made cards with only 64MB of memory anymore........eeek

I don't think they do any longer; the 64 MB X300 came with my computer which I bought ten months ago!

ken_cinder Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Better than yours in one respect, worse in another. That X300 obviously has less ram which equates to less texture and geometry storage space, so you'll likely have more swapping than I.....but more main memory solves that. The X300 is more powerful processing wise than my 8500 however, so with having less graphics memory and plenty of system RAM.......it'd still outperform my card a good bit.

Half-Life 2 runs fine at 72 FPS on the lowest settings too. Even Onimusha 3:Demon Siege runs fine on the lowest settings on my video card. Could my 512 MB of RAM be helping that much?
Weirdy Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 speaking of ATI new catalyst drivers are out I'm just waiting for the omega drivers though

garyoak99 Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Catalyst drivers are for all Radeon models.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the quick answer!
