Shibathedog Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I saw this in theatres today when i went to see underworld: Evolution (BTW, good movie) im REALLY excited for this one, It should pwn Uwe Boll's crappy alone in the dark, i have NEVER been put to sleep by a movie before, but that movie made me fall asleep SIX TIMES I also saw a trailer for Ultraviolet (looks stupid as hell), Final Destination 3 (I didnt think anyone actually watched the first two but me, my brother, and my friend david, because they are really crappy, but i like them anyway for some reason) and some other trailer that looked like an awesome movie but i cant remember it for some reason. mmm but yeah Silent Hill, Definitley going to be a kick ass movie, especially if they use the same style of horror of the games, ZOMG SOMEONE LEAK THIS ONTO THE INTERNET ALREADY!!!
Darken Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) I just saw the pic and I think the story is from SH1 but with one different........ they change the father to a mother Hey this is my 400 post....... very long way till 1000000000 Edited January 23, 2006 by Darken
Wizard Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 I just saw the pic and I think the story is from SH1 but with one different........ they change the father to a mother <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The movie is an adaption of the first game with elements from the other games. It is in no way in canon to the video games.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Darken Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 But if it was the second game story...i think it will be greater
Wizard Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 The second game and the first game are still the same concept though. Silent Hill is someone's personal purgatory.

Lucandrake Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 How do you think pyramid head will come into this movie? I jumped back when I saw the small glimpse of him in the trailer.

I jumped back when I saw the small glimpse of him in the trailer.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Well, in SH2, it represented James' inner sexual desires (see it raping one of those manniquins ) and violent tendencies (trying to kill everyone, specifically you). In the movie it will either represent the lead character's;A) Violent Desires or B ) Some other primal force. Edited January 23, 2006 by K`dash

Interesting
Wizard Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Yeah, there was this big, non-IQ dropping discussion about SH2's themes a while back on Gamefaqs. Pyramid Head is supposedly James' inner desires manifesting it self into some sort of horror.
Weirdy Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Cool has there been anything analytical like that concerning SH1 and SH3?
Wizard Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Of course, theres meen numerious disucssions into what themes are in each game. All however, have the basis of personal, personaified purgatory, in which your horrors and regets take shape because of your lack of innocense (Example: That little girl in one of the SH games that isn't Harry's daughter, she hasn't been tainted yet, which in this case, her innocense - because she is still only a child and thus appears normal and un-aware of Silent Hill's montrousities and dense fog).
Agozer Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Silent Hills have always been about players finding the underlying analysis of why the main character experiences the sight and sounds of Silent Hill the way he/she does. A person's motives, inner self etc. (James' sexual frustrations, Heather's past, Valtiel, Pyramid Head, The Otherworld, Eddie's mania etc. etc.) + the inner purgatory motif that the town brings forth are referred to in each game numerous times as the story progresses. Not a lot of players realize the deeper psychological aspects of the games, and just treat them as survival horror games with flocked up plots that all have one thing in common - namely the town of Silent Hill. To make it fairly simple, Silent Hill personifies each individual's dark secrets, fears and whatnot, and disfigures them.
Lucandrake Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 Omg, listening to the sh main theme, reminds me of the first game, maybe I should re-play it ?
