NeuronMaster Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Hopefully I'll be able to see it within a week. I had trouble reading the book (Old style books make me get distracted easily), but I'm looking forward to seeing it, despite Tom Cruise being crazy.
BlackKnight Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 Just to clarify, the book by HG Wells was first, 1899... Orson Welles' thing was later, and it was not spontaneous- it was scripted. Also it was not revealed the next day as a hoax- he announced that it was a radio play at the very beginning, and then again later.
L.S.D Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I think the movie is good. Faithful to the H.G Wells story, which is a fine read. No complaint from me.
NeuronMaster Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Just got back from seeing it and...it didn't live up to my expectations. It's a good movie, very well made, it's just not my favorite.

Z-Neo Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 I haven't read the book itsself, but an AM radio station near me plays the original radio broadcast every Halloween, and I try not to miss it. I may catch the movie next weekend, along with Fantastic Four. I've been going to watch more movies recently, trying to get out of my house a little more. I saw Sin City Saturday night, and Batman Begins the weekend before.
IxI SoNiK IxI Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 for me this movie was a dissapointment... itll still make money jus because its spieldberg/cruise movie, thought it wouldve been better with all the hype and all

nagmine Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Arrr. I saw this movie when I was in asia *hides his dvd of it* Ending could of been better. And the striders, I LOVED THE STRIDERS. Owning everything but _____<{POST_SNAPBACK}> lol i saw it in asia as well with my gf. Funny thing shes really easly scared by movies. This movie didnt faze her what so ever though lol. Anyways on thing that kinda drives me insane is how they make the aliens. Come on... why is it in every movie the aliens that are cg seem to act like monkeys? I mean that scene where they run around in the basement like dumb baboons just made me laugh. You cant tell me something that retarded got to earth from light years away. And you think with such technology they would have done there biology and prepared for unknown diseases on earth. Even when man first set foot on the moon they made them sit in a quarantine room for weeks to make sure they didnt contract anything. Personly i think the movie would have been better if it was based in the time it was written. Atleast when u saw the kingkong trailer u can tell its based in kingkongs time.

It was being filmed behind Tom's back and you saw his reflection in the window and the sandwich is clearly on there and not on both sides.

Atleast when u saw the kingkong trailer u can tell its based in kingkongs time.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>For one, the original story is somewhat the same it is. Which is good, they gave the aliens extrodinairy powers as our weapons are powerless against their supiror armor. It's still better over the older version. But the best version would be the radio broadcast, which is truely amazing and can be downloaded for free if you goggle it. Patant free fyi!
