Will Wright is flocking brilliant.

During GDC Will Wright, creator of the Sim franchise (if you didn't know that then go choke on something), unveiled his new game called Spore. After reading some articles about what was shown I am in awe at the scope of this game. Basically you start off as a single cell creature and evolve and conquer the galaxy. Not only is the concept brilliant but the execution seems to be awesome too. Supposedly this game is actually pretty far in development so they got a nice eyeful of what it has to offer. Uh huh...so every good idea becomes mediocre? Will Wright is one of the only developers who can take the idea of building a city or a family and making it FUN. Because of his game developing record I can actually look forward to this game being really good.

WOW ! What for a great idea to create this game. I like the SimCity and the Sims series , now I'm waiting also fo this one.

Except that Maxis is part of EA (has been since 1997). But I think EA will give him as much freedom as he needs since he's a huge money machine.

Some of the pictures are a little reminicent of the DC game 7th Cross Evolution, or something, but this game looks like it kicks the crap out of that one.

 

I am really looking forward to it, even though I am not a big fan of the Sims
