Gryph Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I don't know if you've seen this but here: http://www.thepernproject.com/ds/ How much do you think your work compares to what they've done?
Two9A Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 How much do you think your work compares to what they've done?To be perfectly honest, I don't think it's possible to compare the two. I've been working on producing an accurate core and neglecting the graphics a little, whereas Firefly's been getting 3D output and neglecting the core a little. Having said that, Firefly has previous in this area, so I'd expect him to be further ahead in total than I am right now. I might have to start putting a DS memory map together, see if I can catch up.
Federelli Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Catch em up backeroo . I'm also more interested in a trusty core than in gfx right now, dunno why, but i ussed to preffer gfx...
IxI SoNiK IxI Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 would a collaboration be possible? or would you want to? jus wondering
Two9A Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 would a collaboration be possible? or would you want to? jus wonderingYou know, I was just talking about this with someone. We came to the conclusion that collaboration on projects of this kind would be bad; there'd be a lot of discussion and not much happening. Friendly competition is a much better way to get results; I just have to make sure it doesn't turn into a full-blown fight
orsty3001 Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 I don't think these guys here have anything to worry about hyperDS now. http://www.hyperds.com/
Gryph Posted March 4, 2005 Author Posted March 4, 2005 I don't think these guys here have anything to worry about hyperDS now. http://www.hyperds.com/<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yeah, I read about that last week. But it's not like he's going to halt work on it, he's just not going to release it for a long time.
orsty3001 Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 yeah true. it just seems a little silly to me that's all.
Inky Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 darkfader claims hyperds runs commercial roms now. I haven't been able to find the leaked emu so I dunno.
Federelli Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I'm siding with DF on this one, since he's done much more for the Ds emulation scene than HyperDS has.
Gryph Posted March 5, 2005 Author Posted March 5, 2005 I'll have to see some screenshots to believe it.
sigloiv Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I'm siding with DF on this one, since he's done much more for the Ds emulation scene than HyperDS has.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> You have to admit though, Firefly was the original author of the first working GBA emulator. I do want to side with DarkFader though, I don't know why Firefly is punishing the community just because DarkFader leaked an old beta.
Two9A Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I don't know why Firefly is punishing the community just because DarkFader leaked an old beta.If the guy doesn't wanna release, then he doesn't wanna release. I can assure you work hasn't stopped, and he'll be kicking my ass into the far future. And DF is wrong to say that Hyper can run commercial ROMs, since it's quite obvious that none of us can right now. As for the leak issue, it's a matter of principle. If I were to develop behind closed doors, I wouldn't like it if someone gave my work out to the world before it was ready. So I can understand Firefly's concerns on this.
sigloiv Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I don't know if anyone saw it, but Darkfader posted a message on his website (now gone might I add, he's having some SQL server issues) explaining how HyperDS did not play commercial games, Firefly was right, and also how much better he liked DSEmu. It was in a little pink box and I don't know why it's gone (there was the same error message when I first saw it). I think Firefly and DarkFader might have a personal issue but right now I'm backing DSEmu and staying out of the rest.
darkcube Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Yeah something definitly happened with FireFly and DarkFader, considering DarkFader deleted all of his posts on gbadev.org, and deleted his DS Blog http://forum.gbadev.org/search.php?search_author=darkfader darkfader wrote:Yeah... you guys don't need me. A passtrough is all you need and you got it. Just forget about me. darkfader wrote:Hey... my DS page is gone now too.I give up on DS. farewell. There's a post on all of this here: http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=50...der=asc&start=0 Hope all this gets resolved...
