  1. I think you'd get responses that are more suited to your situation if you used the correct terminology. A wire is not a router. A router moves packets of data between different networks. For your post to get to this forum, it likely had to go through about a dozen routers. Switches and hubs move data within the same network. They do work in very different ways, but that's not important to this conversation. A wire is just a wire. The only difference between a crossover and a straight-through cable is that, on the straight-through, pin 1 on one end of the cable goes to pin 1 on the other end, pin 2 goes to pin 2, etc, up to pin 8. On a crossover, the wires are crossed so that pin 1 goes to pin 3 and pin 2 goes to pin 6, while the other wires remain the same. You could snip the RJ-45 connector off the end of your cable and cross the wires, but then you'd need another connector, plus a crimping tool to put it on. That would cost more than just buying a new crossover cable, which is why everyone is telling you to just do that.
  2. Something like that would be possible, as long as the games could all launch from CDX. I haven't looked into Quake II, but I know that the Neo Geo CD emulator requires an "original CD," but it worked fine with my copies. The only big problem with the original CD limitation is that you have to switch discs - you can't just put a CD image on the DVD. The content of BAED4 is still completely up in the air. I haven't decided on anything yet, so, of course, suggestions are always welcome.
  3. The only stuff I was still missing for FBA-XXX were matrim and a couple clones (but I did have one working clone that I merged the parent ROMs into, so that works) and svcbl (but svcplus works with some of svbl's ROMs in it). Also, roboarma, but it has a working parent. Plus there were a couple games that had "NOT WORKING" in the title that I didn't bother with. Other than that, I got it all.
  4. Hi. This is just a post to let everyone know that I'm finally finished with BAED3 and I just started posting Disc A. For anyone interested, here is the text of the info file I'm providing with it: Big Ass Emulator Disc 3 It took a while, but BAED3 is here. I went through the entire MAME set to pick out the non-working games and lame porno games. I may have made a mistake or two, and there are also cases of non-working parent ROMs having to stay on the disc to enable their working clones to function, but I think it's safe to say that 99% of the games on the MAME disc work. After pulling all those out, I was left with about 6GB. From that, I took out all the CPS1/2/Neo Geo stuff and was left with 3.4GB. That's Disc A. Disc B is FBA-XXX, which is the CPS1/2/Neo Geo stuff, including the newer "banned" ROMs that aren't in the regular MAME set, like Metal Slug 5 and King of Fighters 2003. Unlike the MAME disc, I didn't go through the games on here with a fine-toothed comb, so there may be some games that don't work on the FBA-XXX disc. All the files on here have been verified with a ROM auditing tool, though, so hopefully there should be very few games that don't work. I did successfully test (test = goof around and play) the majority of the most popular games. Arcade ROMs use the old 8+3 naming convention, so that means that both discs of BAED3 can be easily put on your Xbox hard drive as-is, unlike BAED1 and 2, which required extensive renaming. I'm also posting BAED3extra, which is u64x, the Killer Instinct 1 & 2 emulator. Unfortunately, that emulator is only playable from the Xbox hard drive. That's why I made it a seperate archive, rather than including it on a disc. Quick Instructions: Disc A (MAME): The first time you use it, it will automatically scan the disc for ROM files and place that list into a gamesave file so it doesn't have to be done again. After this, you'll have your list of games. Press A to launch a game. It'll ask you to type OK to indicate you legally own the game. Just push the left analog stick Left, then Right, to do this. To "insert a coin" press Back. To pause your game, press Back+Black at the same time. To exit from a game back to the menu, press Back+Start at the same time. For other configuration options and details, see Help section in the game and explore the options and mess around. Disc B (FBA-XXX) The games here are split into different menus by system. You've got CPS1, CPS2, Neo-Geo, and Other. To cycle between the different menus, press the triggers. Like in MAME, you press A to launch the game and Back to insert a coin. Unlike MAME, you don't have to "type OK." When playing, press the right control stick in like a button to pause the game and bring up a menu that will allow you to change a lot of options, and also exit back to the game menu. POSTING INFO I'll be posting PAR2 files along with the RARs. Please try to recover missing or incomplete files with them before you request a repost. If you still need a repost, post your request to the newsgroup. Don't submit it on IRC. -THANKS- There are several people and groups without whom BAED3 wouldn't have been possible: The MAMEoX team Xport, who updated MAMEoX The FBA-XXX team PRican25, for the FBA-XXX build with banned ROM support, and for helping me out with several files and some good tips Thraxen, for maintaining the MAMEoX vm.txt, and also helping me out with some files ZL1 and Glitch for a couple other hard-to-find files Everyone on the forums at 1emulation.com and xbox-scene.com (never ask about banned ROMs on xbox-scene) Countless posters to the alt.binaries.emulators.neogeo, a.b.e.mame., and a.b.e.misc groups
  5. Tried that, but I get a wrong CRC on it. EDIT : NM - Knowing the other name for the file, I was able to find another version of it with the correct CRC. Thanks for the helP! ClrMAME PRO is being really weird on me. 30 minutes ago, it said I wasn't missing those two files from lastblda I found on the ng, now it says they're missing, even though I didn't touch the file. Also, those files from kof2002 - it reports them missing, then when I add them, it tells me they are unnecessary files from the parent and moves them. Next scan comes up fine. Scan after that, there's kof2002 missing those two files again. So basically I'm trying to pick through this stuff, wondering what's program errors and what's really wrong version/bad ROM files.
  6. I think you posted the wrong file. I was looking for ms4_v4.rom and you posted 263-v4d.bin.
  7. Cool, thanks for posting the mslug4 file. I got all of svcplus now and I'm down to one needed file for svcbl.
  8. Ah, crap. Can you post ms4_v4.rom from mslug4b? I missed that one when I was making my list. Thanks. Also, you missed a few of my requests from matrim and matrimah: matrim 266-c1.bin - CRC 2240352 266-c7.bin - CRC xbfaa985c 266-c8.bin - CRC xefaf3f3c matrimah 266ah-p1.bin - CRC 1e59c746 Or did you not have complete sets of these and just posted what you had? To anyone else who wants to help out, the lists have been edited to account for everything from PRican, and I also found a few miscellaneous files on the newsgroup posted by other people that I was able to clear out of the list, so shoot me a PM if you can help out. I've received PMs about 3countb and svcbl, so hopefully I should get those. The other stuff I still need. (It's no big deal, though. The list has gotten small enough that I'll probably just put the disc out without the very few missing games I still need.)
  9. Whoops, sorry about that. Not pulling 2k2 off the list was just a mistake - I have it complete. Thanks again.
  10. That'll work fine. Are you going to be posting that soon?
  11. Okay, I merged in PRican's files, but I still appear to be missing quite a few files, in particular those two files from kof2003f. I edited my posts on the first page to reflect the changes & show what I still need.
  12. I said it in the PM, but I'll say it again here. Thanks a lot, PRican! I suppose I can compile the disc without those other two files. No big loss. I mean, if someone has them & can get them to me soon, I'd appreciate it, but I'll probably just end up putting it together without them.
  13. Sorry about that, PRican25. I know we're kind of skirting the rules a bit, but this is pretty much a last ditch effort for me. I've been looking everywhere for this stuff. I remembered there was a ROM request forum here, but then one day it just disappeared, so I didn't know what else to do.
  14. Okay, I edited out everything I got from Thraxen. Thanks again for that. And I sent you a PM, Glitch. Everything from Thraxen verified okay except for those two pesky ROMs from kof2003. I still get a wrong size error on those.
  15. Huge thanks to Thraxen for the files. I'm getting them now & will update as soon as I've got them all sorted. (Also thanks to Thraxen for maintaining the MAMEoX vm.txt - I knew I recognized that name from somewhere, but just couldn't place it! )

  17. Hey, no more tedious than what I've been doing to try to find these ROMs. Here's the problem files: EDIT: All files copied into next post, since the list is getting so small.
  18. Thanks for replying. The errors I'm talking about are all being reported in ClrMAME Pro, which I'm using to audit the ROMs. I'm not talking about errors during gameplay. The version of FBA-XXX I'm using is PRican25's build. The DAT file I'm using is named: FB Alpha v0.2.94.98 (ClrMame Pro).dat
  19. I'm getting CRC errors and wrong size errors on several ROMs, even after downloading them multiple times. And I still haven't got a neogeo.zip that verifies good in CLRMAMEPRO. My problem ROM sets are: 2020bb 3countb bangbedp bngbeada bustamov cthd2003 fatfurspa jockeygp kof2001 kof2001b kof2001h kof2002 kf2k2pls kof2k2nd kof2003f lastblda matrim matrimah mslug4b mslug5a mslug5nd poknight nitdnd nitnd roboarma s1945pn samsho5b samsho5bf sngoku3n sf2turyu1 svcbl svcplus Most of these ROMs I have downloaded multiple times, yet I keep getting errors. I really need versions of these files that verify OK with PR's build of FBA-XXX, and I'm having a lot of trouble finding them. I downloaded files from 3 newsgroups, going back to late June (a.b.e.misc,a.b.e.mame,&a.b.e.neogeo), and I'm still coming up empty on error-free versions of these sets. Anyone who could help out in any way with this, it would be much appreciated. Whenever I do get these files, I'll be able to compile & start posting BAED3 that day.
  20. Whenever I get my troubles with FBA-XXX worked out.
  21. Okay, I'm just trying to get a reasonably complete romset for FBA-XXX PR build, but it seems like the more I try, the more I fail. CLRMAME shows I'm missing various files from about 30 sets. I just spent three hours downloading other copies of the romsets, then pulling the appropriate ROMs out of the new zips and putting them into my old zips. About 75% of the time, it just doesn't work. CRC errors out the wazoo, wrong size errors, you name it. Not only that, but I have downloaded neogeo.zip files from over a dozen different sources, and every time it still shows a wrong CRC on uni-bios.rom. (Most of the neogeo.zip files don't even have that file in them. A lot have uni-bios.10, uni-bios.11, 12, & 13.) Whatever the filename, I get a wrong CRC on every one of those dozen neogeo.zips! Then there are the games that are looking for some specific file that I can't find anywhere. I'll download the ROM set from five different sources, yet none of the files have that ROM I want in them. For example, 271-s1.rom in kof2003f. I found plenty of 271-s1.bin files, but not a single one with the.rom extension. I tried renaming it to.rom, but I got a wrong size error. I had also needed a 271-m1d.bin file for kof2003f. I found it, but, of course, CLRMAME gave me yet another wrong size error. I downloaded 800MB of stuff tonight trying to fix about 30 games. In all the time I spent and with all I downloaded, I managed to fix a grand total of four games. Every thing else gave me nothing but CRC errors and wrong size errors. This is beyond frustrating. Am I doing something wrong here?
  22. Atari 2600, 5200, and Lynx, Colecovision, Intellivision, NES, SNES, MSX1&2, Sega Master Sys & Genesis, Turbografx 16, Neo Geo Pocket, and Wonderswan.
  23. Ah, bummer. I hadn't known that about u64x. Thanks for the info, though.
  24. That's correct. I wanted to whittle the MAME set down to fit on a DVD by removing all the non-working games. To do this, I actually launched every single title in the full MAME 0.84 set in MAMEoX, and also figured out VM settings for a hundred-and-something games that hadn't yet made it into the vm.txt. Unfortunately, that only got me down to about 6GB. I decided to make it two discs. I got the MAME set down to 3.4GB by pulling out all the CPS1/2/NeoGeo stuff. So MAME is disc 1 and disc 2 will be FBA-XXX and u64x. Disc 1 is finished. All I'm looking for right now is a few ROMsets from FBA - bngbeada, bustamov, mslug5a, nitn, nitnd, pnyaan, s1945pn, and svcbl. Oh, and also a uni-bios.rom that doesn't come up with a CRC error using the FBA 0.2.94.98 PR DAT. Then I can make disc 2. I've been spending most of my time on MAME, and I'm not up on the FBA stuff, so if anyone thinks I should be using a different/better/newer version of FBA-XXX, I'm all ears.
