  1. "I think i build my roms with all of its roms in each set therefore deleting a game will not break another.

Open Romcenter and look in the options, see how your building your roms,

try auditing your roms again with romcenter if youve made any option changes."

Many thanks for this, I have built my bios files etc when I load the games it says for example

    sbe_cc1.rom missing

    sbe_cc2.rom missing etc

but when I open the zip folder for the game in question I can clearly see these *.rom files are in there. Romcentre shows they are there (and green) within the zip files (games) also.

Is coinops not recognising these roms are there?

Could you please tell me which settings you are using for romcentre, are your sets split or merged? does this affect it?

If the roms are there but coinops cant see them for some reason why would this be? Its frustrating that rom centre says the roms are there in the zips, coinops says they aren't. I don't know how to fix this.

    Help me clever people!

Some roms are merged, the parent zip is merged with a clone in a zip with the clone's name.

It was sometimes necessary because some original games were not working.

You'd better wait for BP's full release because this is a long work done manually.

examples cps2 fighters games use a USA clone because the Euro parent is not working.

Same for armored warriors (armwaru instead of armwar).

Gigasb is a clone of gigas (non working) ...

  2. Since no one is really helping me find naming or key issues or bugs as I know of quite a few people havent mentioned. Ive tidied everything and a new thread will start this week preparing for CoinOPS IGNITE (final) im pretty much finished and have fixed all the issues ive found and assembled a new full build 1000 best all time games (fits to a dvd just and will fit to E drive without needing any extra folders)

Oops the last game to fix:

    Terminator 2 (with sound) - midyunit.c

    Lightgun X Key/Joy Speed 25

    Lightgun X Sensitivity 15

    Lightgun Y Key/Joy Speed 25

    Lightgun Y Sensitivity 15

    :D

Because of my daughter's holliday i didn't have time to restart all my tests, but for 480p:

    cyvern 4 21 65535

    vmetal 4 11 65535

    dariusg 4 46 65535

    warriorb 4 56 65535

If you're in a hurry sorry I can't test all the games in 480p this week.

I won't rewrite the vm but just place the values up. I can retest all the games only next week.

(Anyway I'll rewrite the vm for a personnal use later as I started to test a lot of different values, and will submit it to you even if you've already released Ignite, to try it on different Xboxes).

A small advice: whatever the settings for gunbird 2, it's better when this game is a first game launched.

When testing a lot of games the cache mem gets full, and from time to time it's cool to refresh the xbox by rebooting to free some RAM. (whatever the mame used)

  3. i had the same problem with rad mobile, the steering seems shot on this.i dont know maybe it wasnt fully emulated on mame0.84.so maybe a driver issue.

Yes unfortunately, the problem is still the same in the latest mame versions (segasaturn=gale racer) :P

  4. Sorry there is a reson why this feature is hidden its cause I dont care about it and wont code the bugs in it which are many. Remember there is FatX limits 4gig max for a file, 4000odd files max per folder,4000odd folders max, 32 character max length stuff like that. Thats more to do with xbox support :P good luck with this stuff ive designed it to operate with a max of 2500 games, as that is all the games CoinOPS supports the rest is a waste of space.

after changing my rom path using hidden settings now i have the following problem:

now no matter what i do it wont load a rom saying rom files are missing? I have checked the zip files all roms are there, i've run rom centre and it shows all rom zips as green. tried fresh install remembering to delete/replace UDATA and TDATA babe004 folders, tried re-copying all my roms tried using roms zips that I know definately worked in the past, no matter what I do error roms missing.

The roms are there I don't know how this is still happening after fresh installs etc..

This happened after using browse to folder in hidden settings, now my copy of coinops final won't work. If this feature is something that is causing people more trouble than its worth I say remove it.

Sadly im considering using my pc as my mame emulator I can't see a way to fix this :(

When you tried the fresh install, are you really sure that ONLY mameox.ini was in e:\TDATA\babe0004\system ?

  5. OK, I stop redoing the vm.txt for 480p.

I had many cool improvements (more than 1 mn better time loading for gunbird 2 or other big games) but i push the RAM to its limits and I'm afraid because we don't all have the same softmod or modship, so not the same RAM available.

I'll keep the actual values, and redo only those for "Malloc Fail" games.

I suppose the vm was made by guys often testing with 4 ... 65535. It's really possible to set with 8 ... 65535 and sometimes more (gunbird2 52 8 65535 is really faster when lauching because it distributes the memory blocks differently, for the same results ingame but 0 meg free).

So I won't write those values in vm.txt.

Thanks again BP for CoinOps ! I really have pleasure to use it. :P

  6. ddsom revision 1 is a clone!

    i don't know which vm.txt you are using. ddsom & his clones appear in both 480p & 720p vm.txt.

moo & arabfgt appear in vmHiDef with the values 4 48 65565. In 480p no vm values were needed for those games before the final beta appeared, using a little more ram (the public beta).

No more values are needed today in what is closed to the "final Final".

  7. you dont need to use the dat-file if you want to add games just put them in the rom folder and scan for roms.

Obviously... but i want to do a new full romset compilation and i can't.

in your babe save, erase everything except mameox.ini. then relaunch.

It wil refresh the games list: "Welcome to Coinops" etc, etc...

  8. 1 and 2 need rom name :D for out of mem games ..... see if that name is in the vm.txt or vmhidef.txt

3 still doing virtual memory need rom name eg xxx.zip

4 wierd you have one of 2 issues... using wrong skin or option to colorise not on.

5 option to add classic or hot games to favs is on so they are locked on this option allows you to fast add or reject alot of games to favs

    1 moo.zip & ddsom.zip

but i can't find any problem.

What chipmod or softmod are you using Darknior ? (maybe it has a consequence on your RAM)

Or BP it was maybe due to the "35 kb" (this problem is over now).

  9. Not yet...

i´m waiting for the package with roms, pics and everything (like my coinops gold)! :D:):punk:

It´s very hard to make outfoxies runs great? I love this game! :punk:

the roms and screenshoys you have for gold will work fine on ignite just delete the gold folders apart from screeenshots and roms, then transfer ignite over.

As i'm rewriting the vm for 480p, outfoxies is of the games which will run slightly better (less hdd access but not that less).

  10. 2 years of development on "CoinOps" and there is not difference from HK's 128 version.

There was a lot of talk about fixing command line launching but that never happened...we still just keep going through a few pixel changes in background images....weak

With Command line launching we get any interface we want and are not subject to "improvements" that are nothing more than background changes.

Please implement command line and quit wasting your time within the old mameox framework wich you claim to dislike. :D

    - SF added

    - 720p fully usable

    - Removed unused players 5-8 configs= more ram ingame

    - 90° rotated vertical schmups with rotated key for playing horizontally

    Coinops Ignite is my choice.

  11. Great Emu! I love the CoinOPs GOLD! :):punk:

In this version will run the game OUT FOXIES (outfxies.zip) with sound? :punk:

This game is great!! Great multiplayer and single player!! :D:punk:

    Thanks in advance!

No it won't ! The driver included doesn't allow it and the game is slow enough without it !

  12. Growing up ? Hmm, a long time ago.

I played Shinobi a lot in the arcades, and when outun was released I got mad (in those times car games didn't have a lot of graphics elements, outrun brought a lot to the genre).

I loved Ghosts & Goblins, Commando, Grysor (Contra) on Amstrad CPC, Giana Sister, Hybris, Shadow of the Beast, Battle Squadron on Amiga 500.

Then I finished growing up, but continued to love a lot of games.

  13. I have an issue with CoinOPS. The in-game menu is assigned to BACK+WHITE. The problem is that a bios known as "ind-bios" has this button combination assigned to shutdown the Xbox and it can't be disabled, my Xbox TSOP is flashed with this bios so can you provide an alternative button combo to access the ingame menu such as BACK+PRESS LEFT THUMBSTICK or BACK+Y?

Give me 10mn, the time to upload a default CFG with BACK+Y configurated. From this you'll remap it the way you want !! Link by PM !

  14. Does this build have the scanline option like mame128?

I need it as Im running in 480p on a crt and it is the closest way to get the original low res native look, the modern upscaling and filtering trend looks soft and distorted imho.

    It doesn't have it !

  15. hmmm.

Is your skin in fullscreen in 720p ?

If it's the case no problem !

The skins for 480p and 720p are the same. 720p has been resized to get the sames results as 480p.

(before that the skin was in a small window on top left of the screen).

When you rebuilt your beta, did you replace the skin folder with the new one ? (2 skins included)

  16. !!!!! This was done for Ignite Standalone, Update to R2 soon) !!!!!

"Gamepad Defaults Can Be Remapped" Enabled in settings allows to remap some ingame functions.

This will be important for advanced users.

    THROTTLE.

Throttle disabling is useful for games running at 57fps, 59fps, 58fps(cave), 61fps (namco).

Enter the ingame menu, "remap gamepad", and map one or several keys as THROTTLE.

(You can map your THROTTLE as back+X+B )

Example: If you think Dodonpachi (58 fps) isn't that smooth,

call the THROTTLE function by pressing the keys remapped. THROTTLE will be disabled

    (because enabled by default)

This will force the game to run at 60 fps (60/58 fps): a small speedup but a smoother animation.

Throttle can also be used for 55 fps games (Midnight Resistance...) but the sound can glitch a bit (speedup).

Some older 61 fps Namco games are smooth with THROTTLE disabled and Frameskip 0 (Rolling thunder 1,2...)

If you want to know what the original framerate is for the games, press BACK+BLACK (default setting)

    CPU OVERCLOCK.

This can be very useful for some games with slowdowns.

To call the function press BACK+RIGHT THUMB, (the sound volume setting appears)

Go up or down a few times and check the CPU0, CPU1... overclock settings.

    Examples (for 480p)

-BioMechanical toys has small slowdowns, Set the CPU0 to 125% = smooth animation.

-Double Dragon (original beat'em up) runs slowly: set the CPU0 and CPU1 to 150% = nice speed.

Don't overclock the games that can't reach their original framerate (ex: 52/60 fps, 36/57 fps), the emu will be slower.

Overclock only the games running at full framerate ! Biomechanical toys runs at 60/60 fps and

Double Dragon runs at 57/57 fps, so the values for CPU can have a higher setting.

We can also decrease the values:

-To get a better anim in Darius Gaiden (or some other Taito), keep CPU0 at 100%, and set the CPU1 (sound CPU) to 50%.

    CONFIGS

A member wanted a config for CPS2 games (some Capcom games use LPunch+MPunch+HPunch, same for Kicks)

If for example LPunch=LTrigger, MPunch=X, HPunch=Y and you want a shortcut for furies on WHITE BUTTON

then "remap the game" this way:

    P1 Button 1 = J1_LTrigger or J1_White

    P1 Button 2 = J1_X or J1_White

    P1 Button 3 = J1_Y or J1_White

Pressing White will call the 3 Punch Buttons !

    FAST FORWARD

Sometimes it's boring to wait for a long time when a game is launched: memory tests, rom/ram tests, etc...

I personally use a fast forward function: just change the frameskip ingame.

    My default Frameskip is AUTO.

    I have remapped Frameskip Dec as L_Trigger R_Trigger X (FS decrease: Auto - 11 - 10 - 9 ... 3 - 2 - 1 - 0 - Auto ...)

    and Frameskip Inc as L_Trigger R_trigger Y (FS increase: Auto - 0 - 1 - 2 - 3 ... 9 - 10 - 11 - Auto ...)

When a game is just launched I Press LTrigger+RTrigger+X to run the game very fast (Frameskip 11).

To return to Frameskip Auto (normal speed) when the arcade tests are finished I Press LTrigger+RTrigger+Y.

This way I don't wait for the long rom/ram tests.

(Just press the keys one time, or you can get lost as the Frameskip value isn't shown anymore ingame).

    SERVICE MODES

Some players like to have a Freeplay (no coin) or an easy setting for the games, but no DIP switches ?

All the games have a service mode NEOGEO, CPS1, CPS2, SEGA, MIDWAY, CAVE, NAMCO.

Remapping function in "Remap This Game" will help.

NEOGEO: Just remap the TEST SWITCH with the keys you want, and press thoses keys ingame: entering service mode.

CPS1 & CPS2: Just remap the SERVICE MODE for the same results.

SEGA 32: (outrunner, Golden Axe2, Arabian Fight, Spiderman...)

Remap the SERVICE MODE and the SERVICE 1: SERVICE MODE will enter the settings and valid a choice

SERVICE 1 will allow to switch between the different options.

MIDWAY: Remap the TEST (or use the option: ingame menu/game settings/Test Switch ON/OFF).

NAMCO: Remap the SERVICE MODE (or use the option similar to Midway's).

CAVE: (Esprade, DoDonpachi) Remap the SERVICE MODE and press the keys during 2 or 3 seconds.

Be careful ! Sometimes with some manufacturers you must reset the game (LTrigger+RTrigger+BACK) after you pressed

the service keys to be able to enter the arcade settings ! ! !

PS: it's unfortunate but set the biggest schumps to EASY to get less bullets on screen and limit the slowdowns

    SOUND QUALITY

it's really better to set a low quality sound for old games with fm sound, as it could irritate in CD quality.

... depending on one's appreciation, and what is used at home for listening.

    GUN GAMES

Playing a lightgun game like Lethal Enforcers 2 with the pad can be hard because we must reload by shooting outside

the screen. For this kind of games, enter the cheat menu and available the unlimited ammo setting.

Same for Underfire. The crosshair isn't shown ingame but it's playable with unlimited ammo

as we can see where we've just shot.

Disable the Crosshair (BACK+LEFT THUMB) will help in Beast Busters.

MULTI SCREENS GAMES (Darius 1, Darius 2, The Ninjawarriors, Warrior Blade)

Disable the Widescreen setting for horizontal Games, and the games will play at fullscreen. 16/9 users will get

    the best results.

Purists can also set a special "screensize adjustment" to get a suitable aspect ratio.

    from cba.gy

Entering gun calibration on Namco games and a few others requires pressing Service/Test + Service 1 together. Advancing each calibration stage with service 1 button till finished.

  17. Ummm ok ill leave out new features that will use any mem.... ;) ive tested 500 hd games as well.

So test....... its all good ill lock it down...... no more listening to requests that time I guess is over :(

I don't think anything must be added now, all the features allow the best game experience !!!

As i told you, you eat less ram than mameox128 ! You're offically the best !!!

If you've changed something from FINAL BETA, I'll msn you to get the very last build and will rewrite 480p vm to suit perfectly with it !! Time for a big cleanup of the vm. (I've seen darius gaiden with too big vm values and can change it, like outrunners. I'll need a big week for that).

  18. How do you enable the 720p skin? I don't see an option for this.

I don't understand the question. If you use the final beta, allow the advanced settings, enter the second page of option and just enable the VIDEO 720p option. it switches to 720p skin automatically.

  19. thanks stf. I tried Espa-Rade on ignitepubfinal1.0 and I got a malloc out of memory error. It works great in Coinops Gold. Is that just cause its in beta form? not complaining (you guys are saving the xbox emu scene!) , just curious. I beat Atari Batman in 720P with all the graphics enhancers and it looked awesome!

    I don't understand ! it works fine here in 480p or 720p !!!!

Something at your place eats ram. or have you enabled the Virtal Memory Manager ? (disable it) !

  20. BP I've seen that 480p vm.txt can be inproved. I think the values were made for another Mame.

For example I can launch Outrunners with (values for vm.txt of course) 4 56 65535 instead of 4 48 65535 = less HDD access and no more glitches when the guy talks at road changing.

But I need to know if the available Ram will stay the same from the last beta to the final Ignite (no more 35k ;) ).

If it's the case I enter an advanced rewriting the vm.

We were talking about the best mame last time. You have the best one !!!

Operation Wolf 3 (480p) launches in mameOX 128 only with a vm value, no vm with Ignite !! Better memory management !

  21. Could someone real quick explain dats to me? I know they relate to accurate romsets or something. I ask because I seem to have alot of doubles in my romlist. It seems almost like Ignite came with certain roms because most say "added game" but some dont. Is it simply like that because the rom description columns arent there anymore showing the subtle differences between the roms?

A lot of roms are called added games because they must be clones, and haven't been placed in catver.ini (the file for sorting by genre). BP has used only one zipname by "family" and it helps to have a clean romset (really i never keep 10 clones for a game, only if it brings something like Darius Extra, Rainbow Island Extra, Darius Gaiden Extra, Simpsons 2 players for character choice...)

You can find catver.ini in the folder "General" and easily edit it if you want to add all the clone.

(if you do that just send it to BP, i think he'll be happy) ;)
