  1. Its hard to believe people prefered a standalone emulator. I would have voted for the xbmc style build myself as it has much more scope for adding other stuff (emulators etc). Plus it seems far more up to date with its previews and navigation. The build you have is it stable ? And what sort of changes (if any) would you be implimenting. I understand you will start a new thread but a few teaser comments / descriptions wouldnt hurt.
  2. Always sad to hear about development ceasing, damn shame. On a positive note . BP have you tested that build your making built on xbmc. I remember you said you were transfering it to xbox to get a feel for it. How did that work out ?
  3. Totally agree, you go for it mate. Im impressed and was waiting for this when it was mentioned some time ago. I know its hard for you to say but how far into the project are you ? Are you just a few months away ? Should be worth the wait anyway. Good luck.
  4. Those screen shots are obviously XBMC and not an emulator. However i know where your going with this. All i see above is the "XBMC" engine with the skin layout of the more popular modern skins launching roms directly. Wasn't this feature of "XBMC" discussed quite some time ago ? In fact werent you doing this last year ? Youve chosen the wrong the view layout of the previews but i guess you knew that. Looks very tasty though. Those slide effects from "XBMC" are what was needed in modern emulators. Didnt see much of that in old builds. Obviously no legal problems with using the code then ? Looks like a real beauty mate and look forward to watching it develop. If it turns out you can create a template of sorts then perhaps merge CoinOps / FBA /XBMC, wow the possibilities are endless. All under one banner, your banner, world domination. Does it make ya horny baby yeah. Just imagining the juicy source code you'll release. A year after you really should have. Good luck mate and i sincerely mean that as well you know. PS. Yes i am a newbie, is that some sort of class distinction ? Snobery ? Do you think you're better than me or any other newbie ? If so you've a lot to learn about real life sunshine. tip. Get a girlfriend (a real one).
  5. Must appologise to the users who have downloaded my skins for FBAXXX Pro. (59 so far from this thread alone and counting) I did mention they were only beta's and my first attempt. I know they are basic but sometimes that works. Good news, i will be re-touching them all both HD and SD and tightening some of the xml. Pushing them to beta 2. Will produce Widescreen versions also. I will also provide alternate backdrops and menu media for the user to choose themselves. And ive nearly finished another skin im calling "Ignition". Was going to release today but i have a few things to tighten up. Plus im also at a function today so won't get to work on it till tomorrow morning. All of the skins new links with pictures, will be available in this thread in approx 24 hrs ish. Don't forget those widescreen versions. Not stretched but proper.
  6. Filesharing its not my thing, plus he works alone. He's a lone crusader. A maverick even, doesnt play by the rules but gets the job done all the same. I will get a copy the day its released anyway. Besides his shoddy attitude towards people i still say its a cracking little emulator. Every machine ive modded for people always leaves with a copy of CoinOps.
  7. He makes me laugh really, he knows what its all about. The subjects feature highly in the google searches at times. Except i dont get any financial reward for user traffic. Any how how are you ?
  8. Didnt think my skin was that bad for 3 hrs work, complete, with no previous graphics experience or tools. Months and months never went into it. Could you say the same ? Curiously how did you know my skin looks ? Surely you never downloaded it to test on your build of FBA ? Oh dear you'll be pinching that idea next ! On the subject of patches, this is one you keep throwing at users for a long time now. If users were capable of producing patches then they are capable of working on source files that belong to other people (just like you did / do). Now that being the case nobody would actually need you. I really think you should be gratefull people have an interest cause lets be honest its more than just an emulator to you. Bet somehow along the line it puts a few quid in your pocket ! So its the users that have put you there. Not to mention your ego being boosted by users who flatter you all the time. Now someone who needs that much flattery to get on in life is sadly lacking something. Now come on rest your head on my shoulder and let it all out. Big boys are allowed to cry.
  9. Unlock the skin for CoinOps. A lot of it is fixed to the xbe i presume. To use of your phrases "no offense" but CoinOps skin looks like it was designed in the 50's by a guy in his 50's. Now read into that what you will, and i sussope you will. I understand the project is "your" baby and your reknowned for getting quite shirty over it but maybe, just maybe consider it for a future release. On a side note what problems in the LightGun department would users be able to help with ? Besides putting our hands in our pockets for cash. World recession you know.
  10. give it a few months and there will be a version FBA-Ignite !
  11. OH yeah, ICE_MAN you will have to add your own media tags to the xml. Better late than never.
  12. SD version of my skin now available. See FBA-XXX Skins thread for an idea of what its all about. http://www.mediafire.com/?tmw4bzhndh2
  13. Built a SD version of my skin for those who want it. See previous posts to get an idea of what it looks like. http://www.mediafire.com/?tmw4bzhndh2
  14. Glad you like, only made it thanks to your suggestion come to think. HD's never on my mind when it comes to my xbox, since it's plugged into a 14 inch portable TV in my bedroom. Out of interest, what happens if you run FBA in HD and use a 640x480 skin then? Does it just stretch the image? No it just displays the images top left corner (where all the co-ordinates map from 0:0) and in HD its approx a quarter of the screen.
  15. Launch the game in standard res, wait till it loads then access options menu, change to 720p then.
  16. WOW Is there any way you could share this? It's exactly the type of skin I have been hoping to get for ages. Let me know if you want to share it. Remember its really a beta but fully functional. http://www.mediafire.com/?zty2nohwwjy And the other that slightly differs from The_Ice_Man's skin http://www.mediafire.com/?1fjqtmzizi5
  17. lots of stuff has gone on and its looks like lots to come, good work BP. Looks like a lot more fixes and additions are to be worked on soon. Lots of stuff for most users. That seems very positive and definately a step in the right direction
  18. tried all flavours over a year ago now and was unlucky (Linux, Dosxbox etc. etc.) However i was trying Acorn Electron emulators. Made requests before on other sites for a Beeb / Electron Emulator. Still own my Electron but sold the BBBC last year. Love to hear if you got some sort of config going. I once nearly had it with xdsl running wine. But ha d directx problems that i went on to solve but still didnt work. Cant remember why off hand. Let us all know what you can find !
  19. Knocked this out after me dinner.
  20. Quick update to the skin my end, The_Ice_man version differs slightly, however the config is the same. Poor quality picture this morning, maybe the camera, probably me. Anyway, you get the idea. Ice_Man, check your PM box
  21. Well if the convesation has fell to that level, then yes i would need more examples as the ones youve stated are already impliment in other emu's, so in reallity if you didnt include those options then you would have resigned the emulator to a "antiquated, poor relative" which is a damn shame. When i stated "am i right" i was refering the options you have implimented are ones that "you agree with" and also the random "options help posts". Perhaps its the way i right things down or perhaps your not reading me right ? I dunno anyhow this kinda back and forth hair pulling is not constructive and only scares people off making suggestions. No user wants to help with ideas if there going to be made to feel dumb. Then in a months time ideas will pop up, cause users feel the heat is off. Only to get there heads bitten off for not mentioning there idea weeks ago. Sound familiar. So in that respect i will slide back into the shadows and just become a reader like i did years ago on forums and not take part. Still a cracking good emulator by the way !
  22. you do know that most of the latest bios's regard the G drive as an extra partition on your hdd. So im guessing that emulators work on this principle. The use of D drive is usual either as a home directory or the rom drive. Having said that ive seen the rom drive mapped as differnet letters in other software (cant think off hand). I dont have any experience with CoinOps from disk as it changes so regular so i cant help. However there are loads of users on this board who can help you straight away.
  23. It must be me but i seem to provoke this kinda response from you always, bear with me, im not having a go. Perhaps im stimulating others to come up with different ideas rather "can you add Street Fighter 35 clone" Done all the reading. I dont have a problem with it. As youve just stated it requires two operations, not a lot i know. Others require one and its visual. Thats the truth, end of. I remember this emulator being about simplicity and ease. If another user hadnt read all the documentation, or cant find the options, advanced options even, then all hell breaks loose and the forums get flooded for request for this option and that option. Now i know you know thats true just read any post regarding CoinOps and they are in there. Now this isnt saying that everyone is a "thickie" but just goes to show the navigation and operation arent really natural or fluid. With you having rebuilt this emulator im guessing you know every function off pat and could use the emulator in your sleep. What i was talking about was a basic visual navigation method, out of the box, ready to run. Not fumble to find the options, activate advanced options, 10 mins setting the emulator up. "So my mother and Granny could use it" was a phrase i remember being used a lot and not by me ! Although i totally agreed with it. Not knocking any of your methods ie:- navigation, presentation. In fact i quite like most of it. I was merely opening up the conversation to different ideas, lets be honest BP regardless how many people post with different suggestions or requests, you will only do what you want to do ! Am i right ?
  24. Heres one for the melting pot that i think was discussed a long time ago. A trigger based navigation sytem along the top/bottom (wherever) with seperate genres. ** Yes i know other emulators use this method *** "If it aint broke !" ie:- Shooters, Platform, Fighting, Misc etc. Keep it to say 5 genres. I know the triggers at the moment cycle through the roms, but the D-pad can be for that. Now i mean it not as an option but the way it is. Cycling through hundreds and hundreds of roms is a bit daft. It will look far more modern and could open up some clever skinning ideas, maybe allowance for features.
  25. Thinking of moving the A (start) and B (setup) along the X axis so the will sit between the two colomns of rom descriptions. Y axis (height) will stay the same. If you get what i mean. As they are they only line up with the first column which make it look kinda dis-jointed. Appearing below and between the columns will give it a smoother finished appearance.
