  1. Not just height but appearance, as in how attractive you are has a part in it too.
  2. First was awesome, can't wait. Hovering buzzsaw gun ftw!
  3. Goddamn can't get a PS3! Sigh.
  4. And man... PS3's sold out everywhere I been to the last two days. It's like wtf all at once they all gone, and when i didn't want one they weren't? So annoying! I could've gotten used ones or older models but nah. I think i'll have to order online and wait :\
  5. Also, over time with continued practice inputting moves, you'll learn how to use the surface of your thumbs to move across the d-pad and not necessarily just the tip sliding in directions. Sliding = friction and will of course lead to soreness, especially when putting pressure and strength in your pushing behind it. You don't have to use just the tip of your thumbs. You can use the base of the thumbs and motion the d-pad toward the tip so it uses the surface of your thumb to input motions.
  6. You have to keep playing until you learn not to put so much pressure on your thumbs when inputting motions. My thumbs never get sore from fighters.
  7. ^yeah in SF2 Turbo, a quarter cirle motion did a blue headouken. A half-circle motion did a flaming fireball. In SF4, his EX fireball is a flame hadouken.
  8. I think you're mistakingly doing an EX fireball. EX moves are specials inputted by pressing two punch or kick buttons together, as opposed to just one punch or kick button. Ryu's Flame Hadouken is his EX Hadouken. So, to save your meter, don't do fireballs with two punch buttons. Just use one button.
  9. The two meters are Super Meter and Ultra Meter. Super Meter fills as you do attacks and specials. It's split into four bars because an EX version of your special moves uses up one bar. Focus Attack Dash cancels (FADC's) use up two bars. And of course, super moves use up all four bars. The Ultra Meter fills as you take damage, the line in the middle is when the Ultra becomes available, and if the entire Ultra Meter is filled your Ultra moves do that much more damage as opposed to using it right when its available at that middle line. The difference between a super move and ultra move are that super moves are what we're used to seeing in SF 2 Turbo, Alpha Series and SF3 games. An Ultra move does more damage and is unique to SF4, has a highly sequenced animation thats a lot flashier than Super moves.
  10. ^Lol you're playing with Ryu then?
  11. ^Dan's actually pretty strong. His startup animations for HP and HK are damn slow in some cases so combo'ing can be tricky, but his hop kicks are good in that they have good timing when blocked that can set-up for counter grab, kyoruken or pokes. His dashes are rather good too, if used well (and should be used often) it can get confused for the opponent.
  12. Those stsrting out should work on the trial challenges for whatever respective character they wish to practice with. It'll give you a good sense of how to combo with them. Remember, only certain characters have "target combos" that act like chain combos. The rest are linking combos and the timing on those are pretty tedious, but once you get the hang of it (which can take a while) it's fun and cool for showing off. Of course, you should take into consideration that the longer hits connect into a combo, the more damage scaling comes into play. A combo like Rog's J.HK, Cr.LP x2, Cr. LK, Buffalo Headbutt -> Ultra Violent Buffalo does less damage than just doing J.HK, Cr.MP, Buffalo Headbutt -> Ultra Violent Buffalo, because those extra little hits scale the damage down. Also, a good tip for starting out to those not use to linking combos, in training mode, when you hit the opponent watch their health meter. It flashes with a streak of light that goes from the center of the screen (timer) to their face image. That timer is there to help give you an understanding of how fast the frame animation is for when a hit connects to when the hit animation ends. You're supposed to input your next button press (assuming the animation isn't so slow that it can't connect) right before the flash of light disappears at the end of the character's health meter. I started out by watching that flash of light, but now i'm so used to it I can link combos just purely on reflexive timing. Still, its a good aid for starting out. And Kro, depending on how adept you are at fighters, it might take a week or two. I got pretty used to it after a week but the first two to three days I was sweating cuz it felt awkward. But it'll go by fast enough since you're concentrating on playing and having fun rather than simply adjusting.
  13. And not to mention, plinking.
  14. I would recommend getting that joystick running asap. I too was more of a gamepad guy because although as a kid I played at the arcade, I was too young to play seriously until I got older and then it was all on consoles for Alpha and SF3 on emulator, and that was fine. But with SF4's focus attack system, there are some things you just can't do on a gamepad that easily as you can on a joystick. Primarily because on a gamepad, you're usually using your left hand to do motions AND press buttons whereas with a joystick, you do all your motions with one hand and all the button pressing with the other. It makes a big difference for inputting motions and executing FADC's.
  15. Are you a joystick or gamepad?
  16. Alright peeps, I guess i'll have to get a PS3 now. The temptation is just too great. I'm not the best but i'm pretty good so i'll be glad to play all of you soon enough. And Kro, if you want some tips as i've been playing SF4 avidly for over a year, feel free to ask.
  17. They don't have Unforgiven?! This list is incomplete I say.
  18. I dunno... I like to use the word "faggotry" to describe some of these people being depicted here. But that's only because it is a modern phrase with a specific meaning. Just like the word "troll" is used to describe certain behavior. We're in that age where catch-phrases are booming, unfortunately. But i'm sure past generations have felt that way about words invented during their era's. Like when saying "radical" was considered cool to where it wasn't. And then it becomes cool again for some reason to say things like "AWESOME" or "thats wicked". It's just evolved into more outlandish slang like "awesomesauce" and "lawl", "I just tweeted." "Blog." I mean where did that word come from anyway?
  19. Not to be a troll but would it be too much to ask to use commas? lol
  20. ^They might if they do a SvC2 in high-def 2D sprites like KoFXIII.
  21. Deadpool's quotes will probably break the 4th wall, talking to us lol. If MvC3 is happening, maybe Capcom vs SNK 3 can too? But I think this new incarnation of MvC3 is more exciting.
  22. Cap is shrowded because its BUCKY BARNES baby. Cap with a pistol and shield lol.
  23. I'm sure with Super-Skrull they figure, use one guy that can do all the Fantastic Four's powers instead of having four individual characters lol. Ooo I wonder if Star-Lord is gonna be included? That'd be awesome. Or better yet, other Guardians of The Galaxy crew: Drax, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Adam Warlock! Ultron would be cool, but he's "dead" atm. Ronan The Accuser, get some Kree representation happening. Iron Patriot instead of War Machine?
  24. I fear you're too far away for a good connection as it is.
