  1. It's a legit legislation that was passed and as much as I wish it was a joke, it isn't. Three websites and the local radio station I listen too reported it (I called in calling it a joke of a law and I will find other ways to get games), trust me, a lot of people are outraged, this includes the general public. The smallest spec of English outside the island of Montreal will get you fined if you were a retailer.

All this will cause is people and business to vanish. Something Quebec is trying to combat ironically due to the failing world econemy.

  2. New Quebec law turns Lara Croft into francophone

Sale of English-only video games prohibited if French version exists

    Apr 01, 2009 04:30 AM

    Andrew Chung

    QUEBEC BUREAU CHIEF

MONTREAL – In Lara Croft's latest action adventure, part of the wildly popular Tomb Raider video game series, the lithe heroine can demand of her evil doppelganger either, "What the hell are you?" or, "Qu'est-ce que tu es, exactement?"

And that's exactly the way Quebec wants it, from now on. French language rules on video games come into force today prohibiting the sale of new English-only video games in Quebec if a French version is available.

It's causing a lot of consternation among retailers and gamers alike, who fear the rules will lead to delays in video games arriving in the province, and may not accomplish what the law intends, which is to promote and protect the French language.

Ronnie Rondeau, co-owner of the eight Game Buzz stores around Montreal, said he even fears bankruptcy.

"I'm afraid it's going to cost me my business," Rondeau said. "If it really was going to make a difference, I'd be for it, but only a small number of people want to play in French. The rest don't care.

"And money-wise, it's going to hurt."

Rondeau said gamers are notorious for wanting new games the minute they come out. It's why he has had numerous midnight sales with lines stretching around the block.

It's why he even carries Japanese games that won't be available in English for months.

If there's a delay of even a few days, they'll find other options, such as buying online or across the border.

Raffy Boudjikanian, who writes a gaming column for the West Island Chronicle, agrees. "Why am I going to wait for five more months when the next big game is right there in Plattsburg?"

Rondeau cites the example of the popular Rockband game. The distributor didn't ship the English-only version for the Christmas rush, and a French version didn't arrive for six weeks.

Delays can happen because translation can lead to game "bugs," such as text not fitting into graphic boxes on screen, said Haig James Toutikian, a professional Montreal game designer, who has dealt with such bugs, which can cause a game to underperform.

"I know how much of a pain they can be," Toutikian said.

"They take up a lot of bug-tracking time."

Toutikian, who said he has friends who learned English playing video games, added, "I don't think it will encourage people to buy the French version."

In the past, technical aspects, such as different game console versions sold in North America versus Europe, prevented even games released in France from appearing in Quebec. The result was that Quebec had mostly English games available.

The gaming industry adopted deadlines to comply with the province's language charter and the "language police," the Office quebecois de la langue francaise.

Danielle Parr, executive director of the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, said that because of the population size, it's possible a game publisher will decide it's too costly to release a French version for Quebec even if it has one for France, thus depriving the province of its game in either language.

But overall, she said, "they will see more games available in French. And that's good news."

    Source.

English. Illegal. Quebec. Mag, set up that closet, I'm moving in.

  3. Cammy doesn't have DAT ASS in effect in SF4. She's friking flat in the back.

CV's boobs were bigger but they cut em down bout a cup size.

Edit: Damage Scaling was also in CVS2 and 3rd Strike but it's most prominent in Guilty Gear series then those games. Even more so then MAHVAL.

  4. ;) thats funny how your actually mad for me !TRYING! to EXPLAIN to you (read my response to your earlier

post) how all these comments came about. Your comment earlier "tight knit forum" well the only thing thats

REALLY "painfully obvious" is that yall two are TIGHT cause your getting all upset for the answers i give to his

comments. Say what you want but as the saying goes "Birds of a feather, flock together" even if they'er

    retarded illiterate birds.

    p.s

Are you also from canada? :) ....whatever........Alright people I'm done with this topic off to play Killer Instinct ;)

I'm getting the last word in because I refuse you to get the last word in. You are trash. Experience is gained on how much you've played and now how long you've played. Taking in every last bit of information is a good thing, especially back then when the world wasn't blessed with wide spread internet usage nor the benefit of streaming video. You must be senile in your old age to think that age or country of origin matters how you gained the ability and skill to play. When it in fact, does not. I have seen many things in my 14 years as a Street Fighter player that you most probably haven't because of the way you think. Thinking that age matters when it's skill and player adaptability is what really matters. Any day of the week, any time on live, any time on the arcade, any time on psn. You name it and I will show up unlike you. To which you have proven on this forum, that you would rather defend your "skill" then show it to all of us.

And this is the last word.

  5. I bet none of the pros play online or console, strictly arcade only.

Calipower (Alex Valle), Saber, Aruto, Ronstoppable, DSP all play online from time to time, but like me and a great majority of others, prefer arcade to playing online.

Boy you just dont seem to READ at all do you!..As i said..on those VIDEOS if "thats" the BEST i know for a fact

i would have won against them...I have nothing to prove to anyone SPECIALLY to a "youtube watching combo

stealing scrub like you" Heres a little fact: your profile says you where born in 1988,Street Fighter 2 was

released 1991 then champion edition on '92 so that means I was doing combos (my own combos mind

you..youtube wasn't even around not till around 2005) while you were still potty training and if you had brought

your weak ass game of spamming fireballs to the arcade you'd get laughed right out so i definitly DON'T have

to prove my skill to a beginner like you...its time you grew up junior an faced the fact U.S.A owns canada

    P.S

Can you read this now? ,,i,

    p.p.s

Never put out personal info

:punk: Bringing AGE into now and saying your country is better then mine? Last time I checked, your country STARTED the global economic crisis.

Honestly, what does age have anything to do with this? So what if I was 6 when Super Turbo came out. You honestly have no idea when to shut up and you must HAVE the last word in. Do us all a favor and just stop. Really, stop. Your ignorance has shown rather clearly in this post. It's obvious you don't know how players beyond your skill level play. It isn't about "combos" or how flashy you have to be. It's how your able to read your opponent. You don't gain that from watching videos or watching others play. You gain it naturally through experience, which you obviously lack. I have confidence in my abilities and my arcade record shows it and I don't have to retort with calling someone a "child" merely because they were born after you. Like I said, put up or shut up, and so far, you've done neither.

  6. WOW!...Thanx for showing me this cause really all that proved was that if those are the best players at those tournaments then just hand the trophy over to me...Are these like local neighborhood gamestore tournys? The 1st vid the announcer(1:38) was all amazed that Sagat did a jab to ex-tigeruppercut  But ok you proved a point (I Guess? or half point? :punk: )

You know what i appologize didnt mean to upset you with my opions of $F4 being similar to SF EX.. wish you best of luck at those ?tough? tournys. Or whatever your into

Those are videos taken from arcades tournaments from Japan (Game Inn Sakura and Nagoya), SoCal USA (Arcade Infinity) and Texas (Planet Zero). Not from any of the Gamestop/EB/Gamecrazy tournement. If you think your up to their level of play, then by all means prove it to us. To everyone in this forum since you claim you can play with the best of the best. Put up or shut up as they say.

For the record, I go to an arcade to play and not play online. And I'm canadian.

  7. lol 'Watch youtube"....common is that where you get your skill, ripping others combos, How pathetic..and i said

WIN tournaments not show up and rank..ha! 2nd place is 1st place looser :So far all tournaments having been won with other characters not Sagat...bout the specs i wont even comment on that since you cant even seem to read you need to see it on youtube Ha!.....A closed mind is a lonely mind..."I play to win, no matter how dirty I have to play. If you can't stop tiger spam, tough luck, I'll exploit that crap like it's FIST OF THE NORTH FUC KING STAR."....Your a joke no skill at all.....whatever your just mad because Giefs kick your ass all the time....How sad

I'm sorry, what did you just say? Did you just say watching youtube is where one gets skill and combos? Are you KIDDING me? Did you just really say that? Holy Christ, your ignorance knows NO bounds. I don't have to prove my self to a scrub who does not want to accept facts from his own little fictitious world. But honestly, keep going, because I will prove you wrong every. Single. Post.

You want some tournaments where Sagat has gotten top?

Arcade Infinity Ranbat 4.1 | Paul (Sagat) vs Gootecks (Boxer) Grand Finals

Planet Zero SF4 Weekly 11/09/08 | Mike Lu (SA) vs Crow (SA) Grand Finals

Nagoya Street Battle 1 | Mago (SA) vs KOG (SA) Grand Final

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ash8sRSEDqE

Game Inn Sakura Ranbat 2 | Ojisan (SA) VS Maasuru=Abel (Abel) Grand Final

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CddtK7mjYJ4

  8. Their called paragraphs but i guess you cant see the similarity to those also, may be thats why you cant see how sf4 is like an enhanced EX..its your vision
Perfect. Which sets up the next one.

Wow! not an issue the ps2 has a what 64-bit emotion engine cpu;do you even have the slightest idea what it takes to run sf4?

Wrong. The fighting game engine they used for SF4 is scalable (Even they've said they could of ported it to the PS2 and all you'd lose is visual and audio quality while retaining the main game because they engine they developed was flexible enough). Even though we do know the hardware the arcade version IS running on, it is really just a PC. And you know what PC games are right? PC games SCALE graphics to fit the hardware requirement. To which: Surprise! Surprise! Is how you get games to run on anything! L2systemspec plox

But that would be great cause that would mean it be a water downed version, the characters would be blocky(maybe) and finally you would see all their repacking and how the Focus Attack is an upgraded Guard Attack
    Whatever

First when i said unbalanced i not only ment The Gief i was talking about the whole game and its fighting system: some characters are over powered, unbalanced frame rates for attacks/moves,the game wasnt well thought out, guess it was more of a fanservice thing...
    You are retarded to even think that. Seriously, do you even know what you're saying? Do you have frame data? Do you have statistics on how well everyone matches up against each other? Did you take the time to figure out the faults for everyone? I'm guessing no, because you obviously have NO idea what you're talking about. Stop riding cock feed bullshit and do some real searching. :punk: And finally;

And let me guess like most Sagat players your going to sit back and throw a mix of Tiger Shots well with Gief having two moves that dodge projectiles completely. 1 does major damage and one has lots of priority, and both have very good range so with dodging projectiles 24/7 and with practically no delay for punishment in between(SPD) the only thing "Broken" here is your reallity thinking you actually knew anything about fighting games..

(Also haven't seen any Sagat players win in any "REAL" tournaments)

Hoho! Bringing up my inability to play fighting games! Good one! Now I'm gonna get down and dirty and call you a straight up scrub. Sagat's game is ALL about keep away (and the fact that you can HP Tiger Upper FADC into Ultra being the other). Do you even know WHY he's the cream of the crop? It's because he can CONTROL space. He can control nearly ALL of it with his longer reach on his normals and tiger shots. He's been like that since Super Turbo. Controlling space to the game, and unlike in ST, he can still do heafty damage up close with his links. And I'll repeat it because you won't read in between the lines. He can control space.

Hell, I bet you didn't even know this game doesn't have meaty hits like previous SF games. A wakeup (not even a good one) will get your SPD attempts EVERY time no matter what. People aren't stupid to fall for a walk in SPD (well the ones your playing are obviously stupid). I will not stoop down to a level where I have to give someone a chance. I play to win, no matter how dirty I have to play. If you can't stop tiger spam, tough luck, I'll exploit that crap like it's FIST OF THE NORTH FUC KING STAR.

(Also haven't seen any Sagat players win in any "REAL" tournaments)
 Are you serious? Don't you watch youtube? I'm guessing ranking battles (both american and japanese) and the most recent NEC08 tournament don't count as "real" tournaments. Buddy, lemme tell you something. Sagat is a consistent top character, guaranteed, top 3 will always have a Sagat player or two. So stop talking out of your ass and learn to use your head.
  9. Using gief online is like the equivalent of input delay offline. He's terrible to use online for one reason: delay. Less is better, but the slightest delay you get will completely screw up Gief pressure play.

If you want a true character that's broken, or rather just too safe to use, is Blanka. Nearly everything he does is too safe to punish and he'll hit and run you all day. Gief is NOT safe to use. Sure you'll get free SPDs from time to time, but 80% of the time your getting pressured to stay away.

  10. Once again, only good in theory. They need to make a really good algorithm to make sure we get a decent streaming HD feed. Thus far, it would take 56m/bit connection to stream 24bit 720p video with h264 compression at the worst quality setting. No one has that kind of connection and the quality would be less then steller.
