  1. My father used to have an upstairs games room in his cafe that would hold about 5 uprights 1/2 pinball machines and a pool table. it used to be the hangout for the teenagers in my town and it was great as id get cheeky credits and get to play all his jamma games before anyone else. he wouldnt change the game that often - but when something really good came out he would get it (this is pre-dedicated only years) Galaxian - just a great shooter HAS to be played on a cab to be appreciated - i still have his 1978 galaxian cab that i has partially restored and has coinops vert running in it (90% done) Stratovox Cocktail - i have very very fond memories of this game and i have never played a decent emulation of this game. The alien ships come down and grab humans from the side of the screen and they say "help me" in a great 8-bit style speech and "thank you" when you save them - still got this cocktail and original space invaders taito cocktail in storage too - they will come out at some point. 1942 - i have never met anyone that doesnt / didnt love this topdown shooter Outzone - another great topdown shooter that was hard hard hard! TMNT- just a brilliant brilliant hack and slash that was about when the first wave of turtle mania was about - spent loadsssss 20p's on this Various versions of street fighter 2 - again this is where my 1v1 mastery has evolved from. He had various versions starting with sf2ce and also had a dedicated xmen children of the atom (which was ok) Tetris - again another classic people have played a million times but sitting at a cab and playing for ages at 10p a go was time wasting bliss there were loads more but these are probably the most memorable as i got to play them loads - and i got to own most of them as well as inheritance . building xbox cabs keeps the memories going when arcades where full of games and not gamblers and massive driving toot.
  2. right ok - another question can i wire in a ps/2 mouse? i see that some of them can be used as usb with an adapter - can i hardwire one with usb support?
  3. right bit of an update - the trackball i bought off ebay didn't recognise at all and now wont light up . it was optical underneath anyway so couldnt be used. anyone know where i can get a cheapo usb ball mouse in the UK?
  4. right well ive ordered a trackball mouse and ill post back some findings when i have some
  5. ok great thanks for replies - i thought it would make a nice addition to my emulator-x cab one guy i built a cab specifically asked for amiga games on his - most are joystick but i imagine a trackball would have come in handy. what arcade games do you use for trackball? - im thinking golden tee, arkanoid(spinner maybe) missile command etc. im going to order one of these and hack it and see - ive got loads of controllers so using one for this hack wont be a problem. treasure island ftw
  6. ok thanks - i have got a control panel with a non usb happ trackball already installed and rather than totally rebuild it like i used to i thought id try to incorporate it. my cabs have more emus than coinops/fbl so i thought mouse support for the trackball would be a nice addition as it actually saves me work with the construction of the control panel. what emus like dosx and winuax support the mouse? also is it really worth it
  7. ok its there a tut anywhere or is it pretty straight forward
  8. just rooting through my old stuff in my loft i found a ps2 (pc connection) to xbox controller conversion. has anyone got a mouse to work with any xbox emu? im looking to put a trackball on my new cab so this would be perfect to hack - i just dont have a ps2 mouse yet
  9. its an easy recover with AID 4.0 if i want to change it though.....
  10. right BP im getting some progress with this vert build and have plenty of vert games - but as an addition it would be good to have normal horizontal games on there as well - some games like cabal and after burner will play good on a vert monitor. problem is they are now displayed upside down. can you repatch this build to play normal rotation games flipped? ta
  11. yeah i did this with xbmc - ill try with coinops later ta
  12. just out of interest can i get my xbox to boot straight to any emulator or coinops for example - im going to use the cab solely for the vert coinops. Just like i do with xbmc for example
  13. got to say good work on this Rx - thanks for the mind numbing effort - cant wait for official release !
  14. the cab - ok its toally different to any UK released golden tee cab - looks great for conversion though
  15. yeah thats looking good - its actually pretty tough getting button layouts spot on, especially with plexi on top. looks like your a dab hand. what are you doing about an overlay for the control panel - i get my stuff done from scott at mamemarquees - quality stuff that looks the bees knees http://www.mamemarquees.com/index.php
  16. i have cabs with both RGB monitor and gutted television - ive had problems with overused screen burnt RGB monitors so will be using a tv and pad combo from now on
  17. if you have the special vertical version of coinops there is no option to rotate the menus back as it was a custom build - you need the normal version for a horizontal monitor
  18. yeah thanks for the remarks - a lot of time, love and money goes into my machines. i noticed your cab looks like a converted gaunlet or turtles/simpson cab (the giveaway is the 4 player coin mech) - a great cab though - looks like you have got the space for it too! The monitors in my cabs are original cabinet 15/25hz RGB monitors that came with the cabinets. Most of the time your better off using whats in there to start off with - but if theres any doubt in the monitor (screen burn, colour problems etc ) then its better to get a standard 4:3 CRT television and put that in there. CRT tvs are pretty much exactly the same as arcade monitors except you have a scart/composite input rather than a RBG Hsync Vsync connection/ input. TBH if your monitors all good in the golden tee cab id get one of these conversion boards from Yaton in canada - they convert normal xbox signals into 15/25hx RGB and come complet with a new jamma loom for all the buttons and sound. Theres a couple of points on the loom you have to change which ill tell you about later if you decide to go this route - but if its your first conversion then id recommend this as you dont have to convert game pads or change the monitor. Personally now i try to buy cabs with dead monitors and replace them with CRT's as i can get them cheaper http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/X-BOX-TO-SUPERGUN-JA...=item483821d653. looks good - keep me updated - the xbox is a great choice to put in a cab !
  19. looks good - thats a great cabinet to start of with - if it helps heres some pics of my golden tee conversion.- i have limited the buttons so i didnt need to replicate every xbox button. ive got a microsoft visio template some where you can have which makes the design and cutting of the control panel a lot less bother. from this: to this: and the new midi version
  20. yep ive got the build and it works all good . i post up piccies of my cab when its finished http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31358
  21. After a few request from different people for a vertical cabinet version of showcase for you cab owners BP has built a special Vert Only build of showcase that features optimised for vertical only cabinet setups. this build has: - Vertical Romlist - Rotated Video previews - All controls Rotated to work at 90 degrees. So far he has only done a quickie build that i have tested for 5 minutes, but all is looking fine and dandy to start with. Over the next few days i will be finding and testing as many vert shooters/games as i can to put in a CoinOps Showcase Vert Pack. Ill probably need a bit of help with videos and bits but us xbox owners have finally got the option to play vert games how they should be played...... if you PM me for request of the build i will have a look at them tomorrow night and send out a link, im going out to watch the fireworks tonight and will be working tomorrow - but i will be back tomorrow thanks to BP for taking the time to sort this out
  22. shame to hear - but thanks for your time and effort in keeping the xbox scene still alive - FBA will still rock in my cabs for years to come
