    PS3 costs scaring away developers

    Alpha
    By Alpha,
SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS may be scared away from developing for Sony’s PS3 by the colossal investment required. And many may plumb for the Volish Xbox instead, a report suggests.

Japanese site ZakZak, translated here, muses on the upcoming battle between the PS3 and Xbox 360 and fears Sony’s demanding standards could put it at a disadvantage. Their source suggests that developing software for the PS3 from scratch requires an initial investment of at least 2 billion yen (US $17.6 million) and that’s before they start.

"There are not many software companies that can easily afford that kind of money,” he said. "This is nothing but a nightmare for many Japanese software development companies."

The sentiment is that many software developers will step towards the Xbox 360. Thanks to their inherent similarities 360 developers could also develop PC titles without incurring high R&D costs.

One developer down to work exclusively for Sony is already questioning whether this was the right decision, we hear. µ

Nintendo DS Wifi Setup ~ Screenshots Revealed!

    BigRedPimp
    By BigRedPimp,

Nintendo has unveiled the new Wi-Fi USB connector that will allow DS owners who don't have a wireless router to take their handheld online. These screenshots were taken of the interface from Mario Kart DS & Animal Crossing DS demos at the recent Digital Life trade show.

"You'll be able to construct a Friends list but there are no usernames or passwords involved. Instead, 12 digit numbers or "Friend Codes" will be used - swap your Friend Code with a mate and they'll be added to your list so you can play with them whenever. If you prefer, you can pick a random stranger who happens to be as wicked/rubbish at the game in question as you via Nintendo's skill-mapping servers." - EuroGamer.Net

that run at a width of 256 pixels;  exceptions include Aoi Blink, R-Type 1 and 2, Yo Bros., and others).

Lynx:  Moved CMikie::Update() and C65C02::Update() into c65c02.cpp and mikie.cpp, respectively.

SXT Firmware BFM for Developer Beta 1 - PSP 1.50

    oshisama
    By oshisama,
Yoshihiro and SXT are proud to bring you The most advanced Firmware loader ever created for psp It's been tested to boot successfully:

firmware 1.0 debug unit (the bogus 1.0 update from sony), 1.0 retail, 1.5 retail and 1.52 retail. firmwares 2.0, 2.01 and 2.50 do not boot yet on this version.

This version is useful to devloppers and firmware hackers.

What's new compared to existing FW loaders :

    - Totally coded from nothing by Yoshihiro from SXT.

(although the original idea of running a firmware from a memory stick comes from MPH)

    - Unlike other loader that patches like 3 prx, BFM (the SXT version)

    - patches them all !! It means unlike other fw loaders BFM does NOT load

    - prx modules from the flash unit but only from the memory stick!

It also means less risks of freezing, and no chances of bricking your psp while playing with your tweak fw (or untweaked ones)

    - prx modules are patched on the fly!

    - Improved stability

    - You can almost use every fw feature including music (mp3) playback and videos (including UMD videos) playback!

    - You can have several fw at once on a single memory stick!

    - Runs descrypted and encrypted firmwares!

    - You are now sure of botting 100% of the fw files from the memory stick and not from your flash

(whitch means you would run modules from your own fw instead of running the ones located in your memory sticks, fw loaders such as the ones from MPH have that issue)

    - No sources yet, we do not release sources with our beta versions.
