I'm odd..but I think that maybe a green-ish shade would be good as a background. Text color doesn't really matter to me. The white is a bit bothersome to my eyes.

Bump, If you want something that stand out compared to other forums, perhaps a change of font would be nice. 14pt Times New Roman, easy on the eyes huh? :(

Times New Roman is what I always used for essays. Not a good font for a forum.

Times New Roman is not a good font for websites, either. You generally want a sans serif font, and Times New Roman doesn't fit the bill.

As for layouts, I've grown to like light ones more over the years. They don't rape my eyes nearly as much as dark ones do.
