You can run 3DMark2003, that's a pretty good benchmark. But yeah, Doom III is the real test right now.

yeah, i run doom 3 at ultra with aa at 2x screen resolution 1028 x 768

only lags for half a sec when opening doors but thats considered zoning, right?

Antialiasing is useless in Doom III, but when you do High and Ultra settings it automatically does 8x Anisoptoric Filtering.

 

And the slowdown when opening doors is decompressing textures on the fly, I don't know if its called zoning. If you have the harddrive space (4 gigs+) unpack the pk4 files in the doom3/base directory and that slowdown should also disappear.

We hooked his PC up to his 60 inch widescreen Plasma HDTV and his 7.1 surround (hes got one of those fancy amps that converts anything to 7.1, and converting 5.1 to 7.1 works pretty damn well) It was the most awsome experience of my life. Now if only i could somehow do that on a rollercoaster or something...

i still love my computer, my computer seems to be able to run anything BUT doom 3 on maxed out graphics at 1024X768 (at least, but i dont like going higher than that anyway)

You need a 512MB Video card to expeirence the full Doom 3 on Ultra.

 

but a 256MB card and 1.5GB of RAM compensates.
