MAMEUI64  0.289.5 has been released.

Available at https://messui.1emulation.com

There's been a lot of changes, mostly to do with avoiding the possibility of buffer overruns. More to do though.

Why release now? There hasn't been a release since July, and there's no official explanation why the delay, or when 0.290 might happen. A lot of games have been improved, so you might as well get the chance to try them out.

Hi Robert,

I've used MESSUI/MAMEUI since years to make a special version with only chess emulations, the last time it worked was with MAMEUI 0.288 and the options "make REGENIE=1 PTR64=0 SYMBOLS=0 STRIP_SYMBOLS=1 -j3 OSD=messui SOURCES=...". (using GCC 13.2.0 and creating a 32bit Windows version)

Now I've tried it with MAMEUI 0.289.5 and it doesn't work anymore: :-(

It's compiling without any errors and the mameui32.exe starts as usual, but whenever I select any chess engine the UI disappears but nothing else happens, the chess engine just doesn't start. In the Taskmanager I see that messui32 is still active (but no chess engine), and I've to kill this messui32 process also in the Taskmanager.

Do you have any idea what could be the reason? Has there any important thing changed from 0.288 to 0.289.5?

Did you try the build in post #2 of this thread?

I don't offer support for builds that are not mine.

Tried a few more machines, since you still didn't give exact short-names, and none had any problem.

I don't need to give exact short-names, because I already said twice that NONE of the chess emulations work, NOT any single machine!

I've now tried it with the previous MameUI 0.289, and this version works without problems - only the new version 0.289.5 just doesn't work although compiled with exactly the same method (and external files like GCC etc.).

mameui32.exe starts correctly, but no matter which emulation I choose, mameui disappears but the emulation just does NOT start!
So there must have anything changed from 0.289 to 0.289.5 that prevents loading (or starting) any machine (at least in the Win32 version) -
either it's a problem in the new sources or maybe any newer external file (GCC, MinGW, Python, LUA etc.) is needed for a 32bit 0.289.5 version.

Yes I've tried it and it works, but for this build he has changed some things in the sources to make it work in WinXP.
And I want to make my own version only for chess emulations - I don't need a 400MB program with more than 43000 emulations!
