does anyone know an easy way to grab a screen capture from windows 8 on an avi file?

VLC media player will do that and more mate.

I didn't really want to install anything that will take over my file associations. I was hoping I could just hit print screen like the old windows.

Still can't just Print Screen with a video, even on older Windows...it doesn't capture the framebuffer, you have to use the capture function in playback software.

VLC is kinda wierd but I think I got it to screen capture.

 

It came out blurry cause the camera was moving.
