garyoak99 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 They introduced a 'grand scheme of things' to Warcraft with WC3. Suddenly there were 5 other continents in the world, a million other cheap fantasy races, gods and history that had nothing to with Orcs and Humans fighting, but paved the way for a big MMO. I'll rant more about it later but play the Warcraft II campaign and then play the Warcraft III campaign straight after and you'll get a jolt from how much more there is to the world and how the style has become a lot brighter than it used to be. Oh! I see now. That makes sense now since WoW came just two years after Warcraft III. They were preparing mentally for World of Warcraft a couple of years in advance with Warcraft III. The only problem with comparing Warcraft II and then Warcraft III is that fact that seven years separate the two games and that probably meant a completely different team of artists and game designers.
BlackKnight Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 Well yeh they have a completely new team of artists (who have failed all 3 of Blizzard's franchises now) but the lore guru Metzen is still around. After the whole Eredar thing though I think even he's over the hill now.
Wizard Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I like his writing style though. It's very similar to mine from the looks of things, and he also tends to be very forgetful of the canon/lore at times (similar to me when I DM any campaigns I'm running in D&D/whatever table top RPG). And he knows it, which is what I like about him, he knows when he's fubbed the lore unintentionally.
BlackKnight Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 How could he not know? In fact he didn't realise until the fans called bloody murder.
Skythe Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 People need to play Disciples 2. It'll change their perspectives with Warcraft in a hearbeat.
L.S.D Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Am I the only one here not remotely interested in this game, WC series or WOW?
BlackKnight Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 Possibly. I'm not about to defend WoW, which I think is a pathetic game overall. However, Warcraft III is one of the finest games ever made. You're really missing out if you don't give it a try.

Activate invicible cheat code, and only use the heroes to hack through the game
BlackKnight Posted July 16, 2008 Author Posted July 16, 2008 Yeh that's not the way it should be played. Overall I don't like the campaign though. I think it ruins the delicate multiplayer balance of the sides. It is kinda like playing Tekken, where all the enemies are big bosses like Nancy that overpower and outnumber you, and where you have to use very specific cheesy methods to win. It spoils the fun of the core game.
