gavin19 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 FireFox 3 is working like crap with Hotmail. It keeps reverting you back to the classic version and a lot of the options are not properly loading. It seems that this bug has been in existence during even the beta stages, but the Mozilla team failed to fix it. I guess they don't realize that millions of people use Hotmail. Also, does FireFox 3 feel a little slower for anyone? I just use Thunderbird, that way I can have all my Yahoo, MSN and Gmail in one place Also FF3 is faster than FF2 but not by as much as is being made out. I have been testing my own extension from 2 through all the 3 RC releases and it is moderately faster. I only switched to Firefox because everyone said Internet Explorer sucks. Compared to Opera and FF it sort of does. Opera is 'better' than FF IMO, but it's just that FF is so much more extensible with all the addons. Opera's Widgets don't compare sadly.
Agozer Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I'm a bit disappointed with FireFox 3. First off, I don't like how there is no separate list of sites to go back or forward. Also, why is the drop down list for the address bar so short now? It won't even let you scroll down the list.Whip aout about:config, locate browser.urlbar.maxRichResults and change the value to something bigger.
gavin19 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I'm just waiting for someone to whip out a tweak guide for Firefox 3. This one covers a lot of ground.
Xtreme2damax Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I'm using Firefox 3.0 right now, it seems more resource friendly than 2.0.x.x. I'm still awaiting the rest of my plugins to be updated.

See my post on page one on how to update those addons yourself. It's easy, besides, they might never be updated or it could be a while!

I'd rather wait and see, I don't have the patience to edit them myself. I know the popular extensions will probably receive updates, the ones that don't I'll edit myself.

I actually tried to do that with Fasterfox, followed the directions exactly, but it appears nothing has happened.
gavin19 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 (edited) I actually tried to do that with Fasterfox, followed the directions exactly, but it appears nothing has happened. I tried it and it works OK. Go to - C:\Documents and Settings\YOU\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\random.default\extensions\{c36177c0-224a-11da-8cd6-0800200c9a66} and delete the install.rdf. Replace it with the one I have attached. Make sure FF isn't running btw. The only thing is that there are a few new tweaks for FF3. Given that Fasterfox is designed for FF2 then it'll only be able to make FF2 tweaks. It does still work though.install.rdf.zip Edited June 28, 2008 by gavin19
Exp44 Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Just replaced the install.rdf file with yours (FF was closed) and FF still says Fasterfox is incompatible. But getting it to work is not of the utmost urgency, seeing how I've already custom tweaked FF3 with some other apps. My real question is: I have AVG Antivirus. It appears they are not going to update their Safe Search plugin for FF3. I like to know if a website contains a threat before I click it, so is there a way to manually update it to get it to work with FF3? Or do I have to wait on Grisoft?

EDIT : I attached a 3.0 compatible version of Megaupload SX 3.2. I just (hopefully correctly) guessed this was the one you were using. I had to add the .zip at the end to attach the file, so just delete the .zip off the end and then open it with FF3. pbreak.br_gmail.com.xpi.zip Edited July 14, 2008 by gavin19
