Mass Effect

The game is in the cheesiest of sci-fi settings. That said, it really does have the most immersive, well thought out and most interactive narrative of any RPG I've ever seen. But then I don't really think much of most RPG stories so whatever.

The main part is that the FPS combat is boring and mehish. Considering the enormous number of good shooters on the 360, unless you are particularly inclined to science fiction or long drawn out RPGs definitely try this before buying. Makes me wonder if the sub-par action is why there is no demo for this in the Game Store?

it's something different then the flood of FPS on the 360 so thats points in my book. I enjoyed everything but the combat. but I didn't like the play mechanics of Gears of War either. (yes I am prolly the only 360 owner who doesn't like gears and halo)

Gears takes a lot of getting used to. I was so disappointed that I started a thread here to whine about it...

...but now having played it through once and tried my hand online I really love it. The biggest 180 turn I've ever done on a game.

Halo is a different thing totally to Gears. It was good for its time but it hasn't aged all that well and its sequels are more of the same.

yeah thats kind of a problem of mine. If a game doesn't grab me pretty quick, I'll write it off and not force myself to finish it or give it a chance.

Yea Gears was a fun game but I never bought it. And then Halo 3 was just too much for me. It was the same thing as the last 2 games. But I think I'll be happy with ME one I get into it. I've been reading up and it looks like it's really wide-open.
