GodPigeon Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Ok so i dont like to turn off my computer anymore. I hate waiting for 50+ Tabs to reload on my DSL internet =\So i hibernate. I love it. Everything is there when i get home and whatnot. Problems is, almost everyday i get home, my computer is already on. My computer Takes ITSELF out of Hibernation. Ive been looking online and found a couple of people with the same problem, but No solutions. Any help from my 1Emu brethren?
ken_cinder Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Got anything in your Shceduled Tasks that is set to "Wake The Computer To Run This Task" under the Settings Tab for the scheduled task? Got any programs running in the background that like to access the hard drive when idle? Some antivirus will, like Avast's VRDB service.

And these are the programs usually running. FirefoxAIMSteamNOD32
Kloplop321 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Hibernation shouldn't do that, that could be like Sleep Mode, but Hibernation is when it back ups all the ram on the HD, and shuts down, you might have it on LAN wake or something(check your BIOS). If it is booting up by itself, then you might have some midget sneaking into your house to push the power button
GodPigeon Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 In my Local Area Connection settings, The option for "Allow this device to take the computer out of Standby" was enabled, now it isnt. But i dont think that will do anything
Reaper man Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 (edited) it could be a few things: 1. Wake on LAN... that's a BIOS setting, turn it off2. "last power state." this BIOS setting sets the state of the PC when AC power is restored. the settings are off, on, and last state. If it's set to on... if you have a small power outage, when power is restored, the PC will turn back on automatically. Set it to "last state"3. Someone is using your PC/flocking with you. Solution? Set a CMOS password. Set the password somewhere on the desk... if it's used then someone is trying to access it. If not... then it's something else, or the person is an idiot, or genius if (s)he see right through your plan. Edited November 15, 2007 by Reaper man
GodPigeon Posted November 16, 2007 Author Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks but what i did Up there(see previous post) Fixed it. =]
Weirdy Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I'm curious, how much power does hibernation save?
Reaper man Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I'm curious, how much power does hibernation save? 100%, since the PC is actually off
GodPigeon Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 I'm curious, how much power does hibernation save? 100%, since the PC is actually offNo. It uses 9W if i remember correctly.
Reaper man Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 100%, since the PC is actually offNo. It uses 9W if i remember correctly. the PC is flocking OFF. You could even pull the plug on the fucker to be absolutely certain it isn't using any power.
GodPigeon Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 Ok so what about the LED lights? And if it used no Power how did my NIC card take my computer out of HIbernation?
Reaper man Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 well like I said, you could turn it off cold (ie PSU switch, unplug)and it would still work and use 0W.... while plugged in, I'm pretty sure that the wattage output is negligible, I would have to look it up to see how much. Also, I believe it turns off the NIC when you disable wake on LAN
alexis Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 when the computer hibernates it should be completely off and not consume any power at all unles you have some settings that will wake the computer and even then, the power consumption will be minimal, to low to even care about it.
