Shame - I think youll regret the 8600, especially since the new GT is inbetween 8600 and 8800GTS price while still as powerful as(if not slightly more than) the 8800GTS.

Still 500W will be ample power :D

For getting the video card, the PSU and Quake Wars for only 160$ USD, i think thats a very good bargin (after rebate). Compared to a 8800 GT which is double the price and more, even though you get more out of it, not worth it for how much i need. The 8600 GTS will last me long enough. One year is fine, even if i have to run the games on the lowest settings by the end of 08..... but hopefully i wont.

Yea you should be fine. Unless youre trying to run Crysis at the max detail and res settings possible, you'll be ok. I am searching for a new graphics card (as I'm sure you know) and I was quite dissapointed when I recently found that my graphics card was plugged into an AGP 2.0 slot, which means that my search to find a decent card might be harder than i thought...... Oh well now that you're well on your way to a better gaming experience, have fun!

Yes i am telling the truth.

Before i got my new pc i had a laptop, Compaq Presario 2500. It would shut down by itself for no reason. Its old so i needed a new pc. Another reason i wanted a new PC was because the damn microsoft works is not compatible with 2003 or 2007. You would think new softwares are backwards compatible.

Well now i have my new PC. ITs all nice and wont shut down by itself so thats a good thing. Here is the good part. It still has microsoft works and i found out that the microsft office is only a trial. Why the fu*k do they give me a FU*KING TRIAL THOSE SONS OF BIT*HES. Congradulations microsft anther person will download a copy of 2007 with a fake serial #. Last but not least my laptop had a very old graphics card that would not even alow me to play solitare without shutting down. Now my new computer has a Nvidia geforce 6150SE and when i tried to play Dirt it is FU*KING SLOW. This is really starting to piss me off. I cant afford to but a graphics card. I just bought this computer about a month and a half ago.

Now for my question:

My computer specs are

Windows Vista

DX 10 (i think thats what it tells me)

AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.60 GHz

1918 MB RAM

Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

About 300GB of space left

These are the requirments for Dirt

- DirectX Compatible Sound Card

- Dual Layer Compatible DVD-ROM Drive

- 12.5 Gb Hard Drive Space

----------------------------

- 2GB RAM.

- Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 or Radeon X1950

- Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Sound Card.

- Dual Layer Compatible DVD-ROM Drive

- 12.5 Gb Hard Drive Space

These are for Lost Planet:

min req:

Intel Pentium 4 HT / AMD Athlon 64 3500+ or greater

512MB RAM (XP) / 1GB RAM (Vista)

8GB Hard Drive Space

256MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or equivalent (DirectX 9.0c + Shader3.0 compatible)

Mouse and Keyboard

Max request is:

Windows Vista

Intel Core 2 Duo

2GB RAM (Vista) / 1GB RAM (XP)

512MB Geforce 8800+ or equivalent

Should my computer be able to play dirt and will it be able to play Lost Planet. I am going to FU*king snap if Lost Planet wont work. Is it my graphics card that is the problem.

I feel a little better know

well vista is a memory hog so thats why it may be running slow and the hard drive, whats the buffer and transfer rate?
