Ahmad89 Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 (edited) You think the 9 series is going to be in winter 07 or sometime in 08. This is really a kick in the nuts. EDIT: I read somewhere that the 9800 is coming in November but for like 400 smack-a-ros. I really cant afford that. Edited October 9, 2007 by Ahmad89
Ahmad89 Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 Well what i think im gonna do is buy a 8600 (GT or a GTS, no sure). That way i only put 100 dollars down instead of 2 or 300. Then when the new graphics card comes out i will hopefully have a J O B. One question before i go hibernating. Would i see a very big difference in the maximum quality for the upcoming games if i decide to bring the 8600 instead of the 8800. The games that im talking about are: Lost planetBioshockAssassins creedCrysisUnreal TournamentGears of War
Ahmad89 Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 Well guys, its down to two decisions: Its either this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130286The good thing about this one is its an 8600GTS and with 512mb.The bad thing about it is from the reviews, it is the same thing as a 8600GTS 215mb Source:http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MT...W50aHVzaWFzdA==What do you guys thing about this card. Its for 160$ so its kind of a money killer for me but im willing to put the money if its willing to work like a 512mb instead of a 215 mb. IS IT WORTH IT. My other choice(s) is a 8600GTS 215mb. Im still unsure on which one to pick so i would greatly appreciate it if you guys helped me out on this one. One from the following would be good:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....&name=256MBSince its only 215mb, i dont thing putting 160$ is a good idea so anything under 150 is fine for me. Im planning on getting one during thanksgiving break since the rebate end on the 30th of November and i want to try to set it up before coming back from the break. ITS ALMOST TIME!! Thank you
Wizard Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 If you want to run Crysis, you'll have to wait or grab dual 88s. My friend got it up and running and he has a top of the line comp (Q6600 - 4 GB RAM, SLI Dual 88s, Vista/XP Dual Boot) and Crysis only runs at 30-35 FPS at best at 1240x. It gets worse when there's tons of crap on screen.
Ahmad89 Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 I only want it on medium settings. Plus if you look at this video:http://www.gametrailers.com/player/27243.html?type=wmv I think its decent enough and runs smoothly. Plus im not gonna try to save for something that is not im my range of ...of....EVERYTHING.
ken_cinder Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I'd go with the standard 512MB 8600GTS you pointed out, you're only saving like $20 by going with a 256MB card, and spending more for the Superclocked one isn't worth it apparently.
Ahmad89 Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 But according to the review, they say that you arent really gaining anything from the extra memory
ken_cinder Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 But according to the review, they say that you arent really gaining anything from the extra memory Something tells me games like World of Warcraft etc, aren't big on filling VRAM with loads of high res textures. As far as I'm concerned, the reviewers at HardOCP are talking out of their asses there as GPU performance has little bearing on how many/how much textures get loaded into RAM.If you're running the game at some supr high resolution, but with low details (Smaller textures etc) you are simply an idiot. Anyone with a brain knows a lower resolution with higher detail settings are better, you crank the resolution from there.
Ahmad89 Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 OK, i think i might buy this one then. Some other questions, will i be able to connect this to my computer because they are saying i will need a mole connector or i dont know what the hell it is.Also, for SLI does it have to be two of the SAME name card to connect them or can it be two different cards from nvidia. Is it better to have wired or wireless controllers.
Reaper man Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Anyone with a brain knows a lower resolution with higher detail settings are better, you crank the resolution from there. unless you are using a CRT that isn't entirely true. LCD interpolation from lower resolutions can make anything on screen look like ass.
ken_cinder Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Opinion speaking here, but if you're any kind of PC gamer.......you wouldn't use an LCD display, CRT's are simply better. Too bad CRT HDTV's are disgustingly expensive, or I wouldn't own an LCD.
Ahmad89 Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 Which one better Wired:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826127207 Or Wireless:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826127209 They are both pretty much the same except one is wireless and a little more expensive.
ken_cinder Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Sinking pretty low now aren't we? It's a $5 difference on 2 pads that only have a wired/wireless difference. You should be able to decide entirely yourself don't you think?

Since i never owned a wireless controller and people that comment on them usually say a lot of bullsh!t about them, i wanted to know some from one of you guys. I'll go with reaper man on this one, wired one....i think
