Renzor Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 well a little while ago i booted up everquest2 for play and it froze im like damn because this happens to me alot well now my computer has random shutdowns so i boot it up and when i log in to my windows account it shuts down then whne its loading up shutes down again i dont know what is going on all my drivers are up to date i scnaed my computer for viruses and it managed to frezze while scanning it .what i think is that what is causing my problems is my ram thisa is my current computer set up motherboardhttp://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...&CatId=2493my video cardhttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1093468042109 i bought a pentium 4 procesor but in system properties it says pentium D my ram are 2X 256 mb kingston DDr2 sticks and theyre probably slow or old or bad i guess.

ECS is the equivalent of a Hyundai automobile if you understand my reasoning. I would return it right away or buy an Asus, Intel, etc. (big name brand) instead.

Rag Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I understand what you mean. What I'm saying is yes you can remove the processor and use it again if its compatible with the new mobo, but I believe you have to clean the heatsink off and replace it.

If you mean replacing the heatsink, its a well thought out precaution and avoids certain risks.
Renzor Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 my processor is a intel pentium 4 so i have to get a new motherboard and a new processor? thanks for helping me out guys. like take out the cpu cooling fan take off the little lever and remove the thermal grease of the processor and its as good as new? but it has to be compatible with my new mobo
