Gryph Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Anyone played it yet? I bought it when it was first available to preorder on Steam but since I'm at my Dad's whose computer's video card craps up all time I can't play it. It sits here mocking me.

Mag Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 so the game is avaliable both retail and on steam. consider it's only $19.99, for around more than 10 hours of solo campaign, this is worth it.
Gryph Posted June 2, 2006 Author Posted June 2, 2006 10 hours? HAHAHA! More like 4. Reviews say it takes about 5-6 hours but most people I've read online have beaten it in about 3.5 hours.

Wizard Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 One of my IRC buddies beat it today. Took him 3-4 hours to get thru. He likes the attention on detail. And in his words "An awesome job."
Shibathedog Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 but theres no new multiplayer? I got kind of sick of the HL2 mulitplayer and CS:S, The single player is GREAT though
Mag Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 so 4 episodes.. of 4-6 hours of gameplay x $19.99 hmmm thats around 16-24 hours for $80? lol.. what a strategic way Valve made money off of us hehe.. well w/e.. if it's good, it's worth my money.
Daeval Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I figure as new episodes come out, the existing episodes will drop in price. I'll wait until a few are out and then get the cheaper ones or whatever bundles they're offering.
Gryph Posted June 3, 2006 Author Posted June 3, 2006 It's 3 episodes per "season," So if you measure by hours, which I don't really like to do, it would be 12-18 hr for $60 which is a tad more than AAA PC games are.
Mag Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 well I beat it yesterday.. all I can say is.. can't wait til the next ep is out. Ok I'll share my moments: -When I was in the underground escaping Citadel, so like my flashlight was dead so I had to let it charge..then as I ascend the stairs.. I hear some zombie muttering..which turns out to be Alyx lol she said " Got ja ! " lol something I would never expect from Valve hehe goodjob giving Alyx some personality hehe -man.. I must say HDR is purdier than ever.. I stop at some points of the game trying to get nice screenshots of its reflection. -oh man, the core in citadel.. ITS PRETTY.. I spent so much time throwing stuff in to watch it's reaction. -when dog threw us into Citadel as are in the car, that ride was the best virtual ride ever.. yes way better than roller coaster by miles of adrenaline. -when alyx said zombine, i chuckle lol
Mag Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 oh I would like to add.. that HDR lighting is extremely stable compare to Lost Coast. It's great.. no performance drop or anything (grr..why can't OB be like this =/ ) HDR lighting is something they shoulda done with HL2 a long time ago.. it's really purdy.
Wizard Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Because OB uses a completely different engine? An engine, that, believe it it or not, is actually similar to the cIV engine.
