Most neogeo sets have roms named xxx-s1.rom, xxx-p1.rom, etc.

But some old sets have something else completely different like N138001A.178 etc.

Any NRX version 4 series cannot handle these and will quit when encountering these older-style sets.

It's the major problem with the hacked NRX.

Despite that, ver 4.8 is the best version I've found so far, it's the only one that can play Ghostlop.

These are AES dumps, as in, dumped from home carts whic aren't commonly found on the Internet anymore. The official builds are the only ones that support AES dumps.

GhostLop does work in other versions as well, but it's prone to crash. As for the emulator crashing when importing, that is sometimes associated with a bug found in certain versions of Zlib.dll. Furthermore, some sets might crash in NRX if the files are not named [.rom] or have an underscore [_]. The latter is mainly a problem in the official builds though.

The 0.6b version isn't too bad really, considering the state of emulation in 1999. It runs kof2001, kof2002, and pnyaa perfectly, which hadn't even been thought of when nrx was written.

Strangely no version of nrx will run diggerman, you can insert a coin but cannot start the game. Works in my mame.

But on the other hand, neopong 1.1 works fine in nrx but crashes my entire computer in mame.

Yeah, Diggerman is one of those oddities. Well, NEX runs pretty much any Neo-Geo game except Samurai Shodown V Special, SvC Chaos, KOF2003, non-proto Garou which works in EGCG, and Metal Slug 5 (although I'm not 100% sure of that).

Of course, hacks might not work as well.

NRX may play them But there not true rom sets any rom after 1998 are encrypted and need to be hacked to work on NRX.

I've got Samurai Showdown 5 Special, KOF2003, SVC Chaos working in 4.8 and 4.x/5.x

Hacked roms for a hacked emulator makes a good combination.

Yeah, but these are EGCG Teams hacks, not the official builds.

James: YES, WE KNOW.

So why do they call this final then? If it can't play older roms.

Is there a way to play on psx? Like you could with dreamcast by chance.

They just did, for some reason.

No, there are no Neo-Geo emulators for the Playstation, only ports.

NeoCD/PS2 is a open source NeoGeo CD emulator running on the Sony Playstation 2. It is a port of NeoCD/SDL, the excellent NeoGeo CD emulator by Foster. Since there is actually no SDL library on the PS2, all SDL portions have been removed and replaced by PS2 "native" libraries (using PS2SDK). The NeoCD/PS2 source code is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.

Third beta release of the CDDA release !

Changelog:

- More CDDA fixes

- Fixed/added auto-loop feature (CDDA)

- (re)Fixed missing sfx in aerofighters 2 (and maybe others)

- Fixed most Buzzing noise cases

- drive now stop spinning when CDDA is set to OFF

Yes, for those who noticed, this version is the 0.6c, and not 0.6b.

The 0.6b version has been released in the neocd forum only, Why ? because... I was too lazy to update the site ? or It was a vip version reserved to people visiting the forum ? ;)

Both binary and sources are available in the download section.

enjoy.

Neo CD != (does not equal) neogeo ;)

Neo CD != (does not equal) neogeo ;)

What I was going to say. Besides, damulta was talking about the PSX (Playstation) and not about the PS2 (Playstation 2), and suddenly he switched it. What the hell is up with that?

Furthermore, even with that neoCD for the PS2, he wouldn't be able to play the newest games. Actually, no post-1998 games have CD versions anyway.

That's not entirely true... there are neo CD conversions of some MVS titles (Ghostlop, Pnyaa, Zupapa, etc) but they're definitely smaller titles, and usually are missing some sounds.
