mocnicom Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Can you give more info on this? Mariokart won't work with an old flashme version?
Samor Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 mario kart overwrites the old flashme.it's nothing too terrible - the failsafe of flashme can restore it, but it's better if it's fixed
MasterKevosavi Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 So you mean that if I had a flashme-ed DS, and I ran Mario Kart on it, it would change the firmware (making homebrew unable to run) unless I use this verson of flashme?
GrupstraNDS Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 (edited) Right, It breaks the firmware because it writes where the flashme firmware is, thinking there is nothing there (I assume). this new one solves this (we think), and shouldn't be a prob. Also: I updated my flashme with this new one, it falshed fine, however, I obviously can't test yet. Edited November 3, 2005 by GrupstraNDS

Thank YOU LOOPY
JaJa Posted November 4, 2005 Author Posted November 4, 2005 It doesn't completley brick your DS.Don't say that you'll scare people. It makes it temporarily non-bootable, until you run the recovery code, which re-writes flashme. It doesn't change your firmware it overwrites a small section that should be unused. But flashme is in there, and so becomes damaged and unbootable.
thoduv Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Does someone test it ? I'm hoping it will work ! If so : great job Loopy !
MasterKevosavi Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Yup, I'm sure someone will test it when Mario Kart COMES OUT...
JaJa Posted November 4, 2005 Author Posted November 4, 2005 JaJa_: DarkainMX: did you test Mk with the latest flashme?DarkainMX: yes
alexa999 Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 The original FlashMe page is back up. I wonder what happened to it to make Loopy switch hosts...
enigmak Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Eh, just a question: Say I fix my nintendo ds with the flashme tool, which allows mario kart to play without any problems, and still want to buy the new mario kart because its just so cool, will there be any problems, for example, when I try to play -with the original mario kart cartridge- online?
Samor Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 ?the flashme fix isn't a crack to run mariokart; it's an updated version of flashme that doesn't conflict with mario kart. Previous versions of flashme would get partially overwritten because mariokart saves wifi settings in the same space, meaning you'd have to reflash your ds after playing mario kart. This problem is solved in newer versions of flashme.
lambda Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 (edited) hiHere is my experience...Yesterday I try the MKDS rom with xg2005+flashme...I was afraid when I saw my ds says :"Unable to load data.Turn the power off and reinsert the Game card"I turned off the ds...she was bricked ! !I look on google..I rapidly understood what happened (messages from november the 5th ! ): I found the way to re-flash with the new flashme (version5)... Now when I boot with the new flashme and the rom in the xg I got the same message but the ds is not "bricking"...But I tried the same with a original game in the ds port (wario), this time The game is booting...I can see the nintendo logo, hear mario sayin "here we go" with a "vrroom", and...another message, quiet different says : "The data could not be written. Please turn the power off and reinsert the Game Card"... I m in France and Mario is not out yet..But I m afraid that I won't be able to play at Mario Kart with a "flashme ds"...Can you tell me more please ! ! S. Edited November 16, 2005 by lambda
