Version 2e

Version 2e is out. Here are results of my tests, only the changes are listed. Comparisons with iDeaS are given, although in all cases I don't know what is "correct".

First the DS demos show a vast improvement - most now do something and no crashes:

Mines-arm9.bin : working, touch screen works but not lined up - exactly as documented

davr-arm9.bin : it starts off ok... then sort of goes nuts ?? A stack fault ??

drops-arm9.bin : top screen is blue... same as iDeaS... correct?

DSpaint.bin : top screen is correct, bottom screen is corrupted

pongDS : runs, top paddle is confused which way it should move, score doesn't show, slows right down after first point from 10fps to 2fps. Works on ideas.

tile02.bin : does same as ideas - rows of letters on bottom screen and ^ on top screen

under_pressure.bin - runs, words are missing. I suspect that the colours are wrong although ideas has the same.

2dexample-arm9.bin : top screen grey, bottom black. On ideas, top screen is black, bottom screen is a green and white checkerboard.

The 2 commercial games cause the emu to crash.

-----------------

GBA:

wstein.gba : still flashes insanely, even when stationary

roto.bin : works now... the intro looks a bit corrupt?

atomix.gba : intro screens work, freezes after a short while, need task manager to close emu.

blocktrap.gba : intro screen works then no response

console.gba : some dashes on the screen, no response

cutecube.gba : it runs... most of the graphics are missing

impact.gba : intro screen works, play screen appears then no response

nexus.gba : intro screen works then no response

santa_escapes : 2 intro screen then no response

sotb.gba : same as nexus, and wrong colours

thingpong : works, cannot see bats and ball - no sprites?

When you consider that most of the above simply crashed the emu earlier, it's a great improvement.

Just for ya info. The Mario DS dump (the one in circulation is a fake). The other one in circulation is a dump of the DEMO version of Metroid Prime First Hunt.

I confirmed this thanks to the NDSPacker tool that I had to do a bit of searching for. It allows u to view the contents of NDS roms and such. There's also another fake which is much earlier that was douting about a Sonic DS game. Search google to find mentions of that.

Although I did notice on Darkfaders DS page that that he has dumped new versions of these two roms but I haven't seen them circulated so I suspect those are all private distros.

Essentially yes. Nobody's actually dumped a full version of any rom except probably Darkfader as is on his webpage. It has some CRCs of the two dumps he did which do not match the circulated dumps.

Not surprising. lol.

Btw, where'd u get the Dspaint and underpressure bins?

I found their pages but they just sport PassMe gbas.

Also the Mines-arm9 and the title_02 bins?

Thanks,

/Ieremiou

BTW: I'm getting a "unknown" crash whenever I close a DS bin.

Oh and um on comparisons i'd compare with Dualis. It seems to be the most correct of the 3 public emulators as of late.

Well, they tried dumping different rom images, but either their "dumping kits" haven't been very good or then the DS carts truly have some really funky protections.

Well yeah, darkfader might have succeeded more or less.

btw, nice to see you here ieremiou.

The demos can be obtained here --> http://razragna.no-ip.com/

Don't overload the server or it would be taken offline. Unfortunately the thread that explains all that seems to have been deleted.

The crash when closing is a long-standing bug.

I would try Dualis but it won't work on this computer.

Thanks robbbert

There were some I didn't have before in that.

I also have a couple that aren't on there either.

There's an armwrestler bin for the DS too that I have.

*chuckles* dsPaint crashes Dualis but not iDeaS or DSEmu.

Two9A, the RValentine demo does not start with e version.

And the only demo that works with touchscreen is Pong, "touch to start"

Dunno how exactly you manage to do it, but you seem always to grab a zip that's in the middle of being compressed, or something similar. I did a full rebuild and recompressed the zip, all works fine :devilboy:

Which mirror is the latest?

I was just looking at it noticed that the byte sizes are different and the file dates are different in both zips.

The US mirror is newer according to the date time stamp (both are EST time) then the UK mirror.

UK : Today, March 27, 2005, 1:01:41 PM --- Size: 485,406 bytes

US : Today, March 27, 2005, 10:47:31 PM --- Size: 485,361 bytes

Also, lol, the time of the files in the UK zip are a half an hour earlier than the zip but the US zip all the files are the same time as the zip itself.

Who's right?
